JONATHAN "JB" RANDALL'S HISTORY

Jonathan was the son of royalty and this put him in a particularly precarious position. While still a child, he was placed in the care of Marissa and Alfred Randall. After suffering years of abuse at the hand of Alfred, he arrived in Springfield as the thuggish 'JB' to wreak revenge on the family that had abandoned him. He soon discovered Sandy Foster had assumed his identity. The two had known each other in the past and Sandy had left Jonathan for dead so that he could steal his identity. Jonathan set out to destroy his impersonator by planting evidence of his attempted murder. He then set about seducing his own cousin, Tammy, as part of his revenge plot. Once he revealed his identity, he rubbed taking her virginity in his mother's face and became a pariah.

Tammy would later warm to him after he saved her life in a fire, but they still fought after she opted for Sandy over him. When Jonathan's father returned to blackmail Lewis, they worked together but ended up betraying each other during an unexpected violent kidnapping and Alfred was killed. He sought comfort with Tammy and, after a long and erratic courtship which included setting several fires, they reunited in Cassie's barn only to be discovered by the entire family. Soon, Cassie had them arrested for arson and, while Tammy got off, Jonathan didn't and the relationship broke down.

He flew through a series of relationships, including a one-night stand with Lizzie that would come back to haunt him. When he discovered that Lizzie was pregnant with his child, he didn't want anything to do with it and pushed her to get rid of it or use it to get Coop. Later, when Beth tried to bribe him to stay away, he was only stopped from exiting by Josh.

Learning of the pregnancy, Reva tried to convince him to stay. After robbing her purse, he realized from the clues he discovered that she had cancer and confronted her. This became the source of their bonding. Meanwhile, Alan began trying to push Tammy and Jonathan together to keep him away from Lizzie. Seeing what Lizzie had to put up with, Jonathan became her ally against Alan and helped her escape from him. With Tammy, the three made an unusual couple and the strain only increased as the pregnancy went. Although he did propose to Tammy, Lizzie soon fell in love with him and he ended up marrying her to stop Alan from having the baby taken away from her. The fake marriage put a strain on his relationship with Tammy who finally encouraged him to try to make a go of it. However, despite his efforts, he is unable to commit fully to Lizzie and continued to run back to Tammy even after the baby is born. Finally, he had the marriage annulled and quickly married Tammy who joined with him to fight for custody. Within days of the marriage, she was killed in a hit-and-run ordered by Alan and intended for him. Furious, he first sought revenge by trying to burn Alan alive before plotting his own disappearance by faking his death. He and Sarah vanished together, leaving only Reva knowing that they are still alive.

Thursday, March 06 2008: So Jonathan Wins?

"Looks like your mother doesn't really love you," Jonathan tells Roxie as they wait in the graveyard. Over at the mansion, Lizzie tells Sarah that her father can't take her away again. She jumps when her phone rings. It's Alan. He tells her that the plan has changed. He asks her to get Jonathan to meet her on the Old Mill Road. After hanging up on her, he calls one of his goons to confirm they still have "the package". They do.

Jonathan brings Roxie over to Cross Creek and tells Reva that Lizzie took Sarah. Now she wants to trade and he's sure it's a trap. Will laughs and plays with Roxie while Reva explains that she's looking after him. "Don't let her tame you kid," Jonathan tells the boy. Reva asks Will to take the dog out and Jonathan finally pays him to leave. "He reminds me of me," Jonathan says. Reva shows him Will's hangman drawing. "You were just like him when you were his age," she comments. She wants to help Will to make up for abandoning Jonathan. She and her son snuggle and laugh, talking about old times. She asks him to stay and help her with Will. He can't do that. She leaves to get Will and he slips a note under her dictionary before sneaking away.

Lizzie drives out to Old Mill Road. Jonathan is already there waiting. He hands off the dog but, when she gets in the car to get Sarah, she starts to drive off. He begins pulling on the door and jumps on the hood of the car screaming. He accuses her of being the same as Alan but worse. Lizzie says that no one controls her and Jonathan continues to scream and spit all over her windshield before she finally unlocks the door and lets him take the baby. The police arrive and she tells them that Jonathan stole her baby. After they run away to search, she collapses in tears. Later, she goes to the cemetery and meets Jonathan. She holds her daughter and tells her that her father has risked everything for her, now it's her turn. She hands her daughter back to him, telling her that she will always love her. After kissing her goodbye, she tells Jonathan to protect her, "or I will hunt you down and kill you." He walks away with the child as she bursts into tears.

Jonathan goes to Tammy's grave to say goodbye. He cries. "She will know how much I loved you and how much I still love you," he says. Climbing into his car, he hangs his Tammy necklace from the rearview mirror and drives away. Meanwhile, Alan returns home where he finds Lizzie sitting on the floor. He wants to know what happened. She says she did the right thing. "Then where's your daughter?" he asks. Lizzie says she couldn't let her daughter grow up with him. Alan threatens to hunt Jonathan down and bring Sarah back. She tells him the only way he can have the family he wants is if they make a deal: "Jonathan and Sarah get their freedom and you get me," she offers.

Josh goes to see Reva. She tells him that Cassie threw a tantrum, took Will and ran. She also shows him Jonathan's goodbye note. He starts to read the note aloud and she bursts into tears. It says that he is taking his daughter and going far away. Lizzie's heart may be in the right place, but Alan is never far away. Josh and Reva run around town searching. Bill meets them on Main Street and tells them that Alan is setting Jonathan up for what happened in Tourmaline. Reva and Josh continue to wander and search. They find one of Sarah's dolls in the woods and she cries. Suddenly, they spot Jonathan's car and start running after him. He drives away, waving out the window.

Wednesday, March 05 2008: The True Love Card

In his motel room, Jonathan looks through the want ads as he feeds Sarah. After putting on a tie and feeling like a dork, he tells his baby that he will do anything for her. He takes her over to the daycare where they meet Miss Francis. He leaves the child there and heads to Towers for an interview. No one will give him a pen so he has to use the only thing he has, a Wild Strawberry crayon, to fill out his job application. Soon, Billy arrives to collect his application. He's clearly not impressed. Jonathan promises him not to embarrass him on purpose; he's tired of running and wants to raise his daughter in town. Billy challenges him and Jonathan is ready to walk away. Billy reminds him that he needs this job and offers it to him so long as he listens and behaves himself.

Jonathan goes over to the construction site. Matt gives him a quick run down and runs off. Jonathan gets on the phone to check on his daughter at daycare. When the line goes dead, he walks off. He goes to the daycare to get his daughter. When he's told that Lizzie took her, he begins screaming and threatening Miss Francis. "There are children here," she points out. "None of the are mine!" he screams. Before he can attack her, a cop runs over and gets between them. Jonathan's dragged over to the police station. "Who did you try to set on fire this time?" Frank asks. "Give me some matches and I'll start with the daycare," Jonathan says. The cop explains what happened to Frank. Jonathan starts justifying himself but Frank already knows the story and is familiar with the Tammy excuse. "What is it with guys like you who use the true love card when you really mean hate?" Frank asks. If he wants to fight Alan, he has to do it legally, Frank advises. He tells Jonathan to stop being stupid; he can't let his daughter grow up with a father in jail. He uncuffs him and reminds him that there are people who will help him, but he shouldn't fight dirty with Alan Spaulding. After Frank turns his back, Jonathan says that that was all bad advice.

Bill runs over to Cedars and listens to Beth defending Alan to Lillian. He tells her that Rick spent the night in jail thanks to Alan. Jonathan peaks around the corner after eavesdropping. Bill goes to a room and finds a naked woman in his bed. She has a tag on her leg: "Like your gift? Call Lizzie." Matt goes to see Billy and tells him that Jonathan didn't even last an hour on the job. When Billy takes a drink, he realizes there is something wrong with it. He finds a tag on the drink: "Like your gift? Call Lizzie." As Lizzie gets her nails done at the salon, Lillian calls her to say that someone changed the prescription of one of her patients and left a message from her on it. Lizzie doesn't understand. Suddenly, Beth calls and tells her daughter that her car was stolen and she's to blame. Then Billy calls with his complaint and then Bill calls with his. While the woman she sent him is hot, he wonders why she sent her with a note. "If this is your way of trying to get rid of me, it isn't half bad," he says, hanging up to make out with his hooker. Lizzie quickly realizes that there is only one person who would go to this much trouble to set her up. She runs off to get Roxie but is told that her husband took the dog. He left a note. "It will only get worse. Call Jonathan."

Jonathan crouches over Tammy's grave. Roxie runs away from him and over to Cassie. Cassie walks over and asks him if he's learning to share babies and dogs. "Something like that," he says. Is she learning to share Josh, kids, Reva, God? They wish things would get easier for them. They laugh while Roxie licks Tammy's grave. Then they hold back tears and wish they had more time with Tammy.

Lizzie calls Jonathan and tells him that she gets his threats. He tells her that her dog is still ugly and asks her how his daughter is. She starts crying and says that Sarah misses her dad and they need to make this work. He agrees to meet if there is no Alan or Bill. She agrees to meet him by Tammy's grave. "A graveyard? How appropriate," Alan smiles as he listens in. They're not going to have to cause any trouble; Jonathan is already wanted for murder so the police can take care of him, Alan explains.
