Alan returns to the mansion and complains to Lillian that Beth is not around. Lillian tells him that he should be more concerned about what’s best for Beth and show her his support. He doesn’t think anyone cares more about Beth’s needs than he does. Beth arrives, eager to talk about Buzz. Alan’s already heard about it. Beth explains the situation to her mother and asks Alan to help save Buzz. If he bought the restaurant, he could be the hero for once and make a small profit. She reminds him of how Buzz helped him after his fall. Alan can see that this is important to her, so it’s very important to him. He hugs her. Lillian cringes.
Back at the mansion, Alan is falling asleep. Beth tells him to take a nap. He passes out cold. Lillian walks in, wishing to talk to her daughter in private. Beth tells her that Alan will be out cold until tomorrow. Her mother guesses that she drugged Alan so she could run away with Coop. Beth reads her lines from Coop's book. Lillian shakes her head and tells her daughter that Coop is not Phillip any more than Alan is. Beth cries that this isn't about Phillip and walks out.
Coop calls Beth and leaves her a message. He wants her to know that he is thinking of her and that he is leaving tonight for Colorado. Coop tells her that he really wants her to come with him and start the New Year off together. As Buzz listens in, Coop suggests (via voicemail) that they can play games or share the hot tub. Buzz reminds Coop that none of this is funny to him and that it is not smart to have an affair with someone and write a book that is based on it! Coop tells his father to lighten up and that he is the only person besides Beth and himself who knows about the affair. Buzz hugs his son and tells him, “Alan is Alan, and I would really appreciate it if you would do me a favor and not get murdered on Christmas!” Meanwhile, Alan and Beth sit at the mansion all alone. Beth insists that this isn’t how Christmas should be. She misses the people and the music. Beth also admits that she misses Elizabeth a lot right now and that she wishes she had come home earlier. Lillian enters the room and informs them that she stopped by because James sent her a text letting her know that his mommy was sad. Lillian instructs the two of them to gather their things because they are going to accompany her to the Christmas celebration with the Coopers. Beth and Alan resist momentarily, but eventually lose the battle. The three of them head out as Lillian sings "Deck the Halls."
As Daisy and Grady enter Company, Frank rushes over and thanks him for dropping off his niece. Daisy informs him that she is not staying if Grady has to leave. Ashlee pulls Frank aside and reminds him that this is about Daisy, not Grady. He tells Ashlee that he isn’t sure that Daisy knows what love is, but Ashlee begs to differ. When Frank says that he has felt love before, Ashlee says that maybe he should let Grady stay…for Daisy’s sake. Outside, Buzz finds Coop on the steps and gives him his Christmas present. Coop shakes the box and then proceeds to open it. Buzz tells his son that he realized that he has handled him and Beth all wrong. He opens up and tells him that he has never really known how to handle his son. Buzz says that he prays that he will go in the right direction. Coop promises his dad that he is trying to do that right now. Just then, Lillian walks up with Beth and Alan trailing behind. Buzz looks shocked while Coop has a huge smile on his face. As everyone takes their seats, Buzz pulls Lillian aside and tells her, “This is bad, really bad!” Lillian laughs it off at first when Buzz tells her that Coop is the mystery man, but Buzz insists that he isn’t playing around. At the table, Coop takes their drink order and apologizes to Alan for their recent disagreement. Before he leaves he slips Beth a note asking her to meet him upstairs.
Buzz and Lillian sit in the corner and discuss the situation involving Coop and Beth. Lillian says that she senses disaster and that this is certain to end badly. She and Buzz get concerned when they don’t see Beth or Coop with everyone else. Just then Alan comes up and wants to know where Beth is as well. Lillian panics when Alan asks her to hold Peyton while he goes to look for her. Buzz steps in and calls for a Holiday toast to keep Alan in the room for a while longer. When Beth finally arrives back downstairs, she tells Alan that she needs to go to Minnesota after all. Alan agrees that if she needs to do this, then it is for the best. Alan smiles and says that he will arrange for all of the family to go along so that she isn’t alone during Christmas. Coop overhears this and promises Buzz that he will not let Alan take her away, because that is not what she wants!
Reva takes Jeffrey out to cut down a Christmas tree. She picks the smallest tree there. She and Jeffrey walk over to Cedars and meet with Lillian. After a little chat, the nurse leaves them alone. Jeffrey fusses and offers to get her ice cream. She needs him to relax and tells him to get her a radio. Lillian returns and sets up Reva's IV as Jeffrey leaves. When left alone, Reva tells her baby that it is the most unexpected surprise in her life. She tells it that she has always been a hellraiser, but fun. Not always a great mother, but it will be different this time. "You're going to have to be a fighter too because we're in this together," she says.
Buzz and Lillian are eating at Towers. She worries about Lizzie and complains that Beth hasn't had time to look after her. Buzz stops her and sheepishly tells her that Beth is seeing someone. She asks him how he can be sure. He saw her in her nightie when he was delivering something to her room. Beth broke down and told him that she was having an affair. Lillian wonders how their children inherited their worst traits. She teasingly asks him how Beth looked in her nightie. "Doesn't hold a candle to you," he says.
Lillian returns to the mansion and asks her daughter if she is up to something. Beth quickly realizes that Buzz must have tipped her off. She argues that her affair is not really an affair. Lillian doubts Alan would see it that way. Beth doesn't want her mother judging her. Lillian isn't judging, she's just worried. Alan walks in and Beth promptly leaves.
Jeffrey tracks Reva down. He tells her that he talked to the doctor after she left and there is more she should hear. She's not interested in anything that will jeopardize the baby. "This is our baby Jeffrey!" she shouts, running off again. He chases her down. She repeats that the baby comes first. His phone starts to ring. She tells him to take the call while she takes care of what's important to her. He walks off and answers his phone. He's needed in DC right away. Lillian finds him and tells him that she knows about the diagnosis and advises him to get a second opinion.
Blake and Lillian have Matt carry all of the gifts for Reva's baby shower into Company. He puts the packages down and wants to run. Blake needs him to stay and help assemble everything. She shouts orders and Matt starts to wish he had another baby. They sit around and begin testing all of the baby toys. Blake teases Matt. He tests the baby monitor with Buzz. Lillian slips into the kitchen with Buzz to make out. Later, he starts clearing up and babbling to people in the restaurant before noticing that Jeffrey and Reva are on the way. They smuggle all of the boxes out and over to Mallet and Marina's.
