OLIVIA SPENCER'S HISTORY

Olivia had a stormy relationship with Prince Richard on San Cristobel, thanks largely to his love for the amnesiac Reva. In spite of saving Reva and her son's lives, the two never got along and Olivia soon had to go into hiding when Edmund's murderous plots began to implicate her. Richard abandoned the island to pursue Reva and Olivia followed, coincidentally hooking up with Reva's ex-husband Josh in the process. The two became a couple, eventually marrying, and she began to work for him. This wasn't easy however because Josh's daughter Marah continually tried to sabotage the relationship. Desperate to keep Josh impressed, she got involved in 'the harbor project' with many of the more notorious characters from San Cristobel and the mafia. She had to go to Alan for help and this quickly led to an affair and charges of insider trading, which destroyed her relationship with Josh.

As she and Alan became closer, her eyes wandered to his son Phillip and she set out to destroy his relationship with Beth. Alan proved more resourceful (faking heart attacks, letters and birth control) in attempts to keep her under control. However, she eventually drugged him and left him for dead on an island. This proved to be the end for them. After they divorced, she and Phillip got together and she became the target of his daughter's hatred (which included attempts to make her miscarry). While her new husband began losing his mind, she began trying to take over Spaulding with the help of Bill Lewis. This, and her affair with Bill, destroyed this third marriage. She and Phillip began a violent custody battle which ended with him 'dead' and Olivia accused of his murder. When she tried to salvage a relationship with Bill amidst murder charges, Alan continued to fight her over Emma's space in the family, even threatening to set her up for Phillip's death if she didn't help him frame Harley. As things escalated, she began blackmailing the Lewis family and abducted Gus before finally disappearing with Emma. All of these things strained her marriage to the breaking point and Bill left a sad and lonely Olivia to befriend the Coopers.

Reluctantly, she got involved with both Buzz and Frank, unbeknownst to either for a long time. Finally, she settled on Buzz who has been her support ever since. This has been especially important in recent months when she suffered a mental breakdown after Ava Peralta accidentally poisoned little Emma. This led to several attempts on Ava's life before the fact came out that Ava was actually the daughter she had given up after being date raped as a teenager by Jeffrey O'Neil.

Tuesday, August 26 2008: Thank God for Garage Sales.

Olivia and Natalia stand by the water. Natalia is upset over what Rick said about Alan's brain. Still, she doesn't think she can stop believing. Olivia says the blood is messing with his head. "God works in mysterious ways," Natalia says. "So does Alan Spaulding," Olivia barks. Their lives are crap and they desperately wanted to believe in something that would make them seem less awful, but they aren't. Rick was just trying to stop them from being fools, Olivia says. Natalia can't shake the sense that there is more and the timing of Gus' death seems like a miracle. She imagines that Olivia is being cynical and unrealistic. Olivia insists she is only being realistic and will expose Alan as a faker. Natalia takes her hand and drags her to the hospital.

Olivia returns home and tells Emma not to let Natalia know she is playing hookie from the doctor. The look on her little girl's face changes her mind though. She runs off to her doctor's appointment. Natalia waits for her. Olivia comes out and says that things aren't as bad as she imagined. Natalia suggests that positive thinking is working for her. Olivia doesn't know if Natalia is naive or just annoying. Natalia tells her to have faith. Jeffrey arrives and tells her that Doris had him removed from Rafe's case. She's still optimistic and leaves. Jeffrey's bewildered and envies her optimism. Olivia feels sorry for her; she's sure that one day Natalia will wake up and realize she was part of a cosmic joke. He hands her the paper that was faxed to him about Ava. They look over the paperwork and he says that he can't make the decision; all of his decisions have backfired so far. She tears the paper up and tells him that he is a good father. "I may not know what I'm talking about, but you're a family man," she says. He picks up the papers and says he'll have them re-faxed. She smiles.

Natalia returns to the water and sits down. Frank calls and asks her to come and see Rafe. She hurries over and immediately asks her son if he's eating right. She admits that she called Mallet but only to keep him safe. He knows that she didn't turn him in. She apologizes again. He tells her that everything will be fine. Leaning in, she tells him that Alan has a blockage in his brain and his visions may have only been symptoms of his condition. She hopes that, like her, he will choose to believe it is more than that. He'll try. Olivia listens and shakes her head.

Monday, August 25 2008: You Make a Lousy me.

Natalia offers to go with Olivia to her doctor's appointment. Olivia sends her to look after Rafe instead. When Natalia climbs into her car, she's shocked to hear her son has been surrounded by police. She speeds off.

Olivia arrives at Cedars for her check up. Rick is so happy to see her that he offers her a lollipop. He tells her that she has to take care of herself and listen to her own instincts. A nurse calls him over to sign something and begins gossiping about Rafe's arrest. Olivia overhears and runs off.

Olivia rushes in and tells Natalia that she has a lawyer and PR person already set up and she will take care of this. Natalia snaps and tells her to take care of herself. She demands that Olivia go home and get herself checked out. Olivia bursts out laughing; Natalia is starting to sound like her and she is sounding like Natalia. "You make a lousy me," she says. After promising to be gentle, Olivia goes in to see Rafe and quickly calls him a "selfish, ungrateful little twit". She reminds him of everything his mother has done for him. If he wants out, he needs to listen to her and do as she says.

Back at the station, Frank offers Natalia dinner. She worries about her son. He explains that he has orders to send Rafe off, but is trying to keep him there temporarily. There's no way that he will get bail after running though. This is something even Gus can't fix, Frank says. Olivia comes out and says that Natalia can see Rafe during visiting hours tomorrow. Natalia is thrilled and thanks her for getting through to her son. She's sure that this is proof that her faith is paying off and offers to take Olivia to her cardiologist to pay her back.

Natalia drags Olivia to Cedars. They meet Rick who jokes that the morgue is actually downstairs. They don't appreciate the joke. He repeats to Olivia that she has to take care of her heart or she'll be dead. Natalia is sure she will be fine; Gus tells her so. Rick reminds her that Gus is dead; they're ignoring their health and Rafe is in jail because they're listening to Alan's rantings. He breaks the rules of patient-doctor confidentiality and tells them that Alan's visions are because he is sick: He has a blood clot in his brain. Olivia laughs bitterly.
