Hawk goes into Company for a drink. Buzz and Frank begin commiserating with him over daughters who never listen to their fathers. They worry about Daisy and tell Hawk about her problems. Hawk growls. Daisy is exactly like her mother and grandmother. Hawk bursts out laughing because he knows that Buzz and Frank are going to be tortured by their daughters for the rest of their lives. "But we're damn lucky to have them!" he says. They toast.
Cyrus goes to Company to see Buzz. He tells her that he doesn't want Marina hurt anymore. He's come to realize how much damage he's done to the Cooper family and feels bad about it. He thinks that Marina should be transferred off the Grady case because it will only upset her. Buzz is sure he is only trying to protect his brother and tells him to get out.
By the side of the road, Cyrus is calling Harley and leaving messages while watching Jude run a race. Daisy approaches. They stand together, away from the Cooper family as they watch Jude from across the road. Frank thinks that Daisy should be with them. Buzz tells him that they should be concentrating on Jude and keeping things normal for him. Cyrus tells Daisy that she should be with her family. She's still angry for what they're doing to Grady. He tells her to find someone new and suggests that she try traveling. Jude finishes the race.
At Company, Coop tells his father that he got offered a teaching gig at the local school. Buzz wonders if he has time for that and his writing and worries about him. Coop insists he's fine. Buzz brings up Ashlee. Coop doesn't want to talk about it. He also explains that he and Blake have parted ways, for personal and professional reasons. Blake may have aggravated things between he and Ashlee, but she wasn't the problem. He and Ashlee just weren't meant to be together.
Reva arrives at Company. She and Buzz wish they had sent Daisy away. "She's like you," he says. She says she's more like him. He shrugs. She's tried threatening Grady but it only seems to annoy him. "We need to make sure he stays locked up," she says. He wonders if he should pay him a visit... "I'm getting too old for this," he says.
"I don't remember putting Grandpa Crook-Cook on my visitor's list," Grady says as Buzz arrives. Buzz laughs and then tries to reason with him. "You're a big boy, get over it," he says. "You don't know me," Grady grunts. "You're not unique. You're a screw up and screw ups are all the same," Buzz says, before threatening him. He's an old man and he doesn't have anything to lose anymore, he says.
Buzz goes to see Reva. He says that he can't get a good read on Grady.
At Company, the Coopers are going over their list of things for the BBQ. Lillian feels bad for Rick and wonders how Beth could have chosen Alan over him. So does Frank, but he doesn't want this to put a damper on the day. They prepare to leave as Natalia arrives. They invite her along. She asks Buzz for an update on Harley and her son. He insists that they're fine. Lizzie arrives to pick up her order. She asks her grandmother to come along for the Spaulding picnic. She agrees to drop by later. Remy walks in and Lizzie offers to buy him a beer after seeing his disappointment at the wedding. As she rants, he tells her to stop. She bluntly comes out and explains that the baby is not Bill's.
Everyone starts to gather at Cassie's. Buzz arrives and wonders where Rick is. He soon arrives at the BBQ and everyone hugs him, excited to see him there. Josh hands him the spatula. "Now I'm going to drink," he announces. Rick smiles and starts teaching the children how to cook burgers, accidentally flipping them onto the grass."We'll give that one to Alan," he says. Remy arrives and the Spauldings arrive soon after, almost simultaneously with Ava and Bill.
Josh and Cassie are glad to be doing something normal. He calls everyone together and announces that it's time for Rick to make a speech. Rick steps up and thanks them, but that's all he has to say. They call Mallet up to talk while Yankee Doodle Dandy plays. He thanks everyone for friends and family and Cassie's cherry pie. He talks about Independence Day and how he feels about the country. They toast to it. The kids and adults play on water slides, Lillian and Buzz make out in the woods, Beth drags Alan onto the kids ride.
