You Are Lost.

Monday, December 01 2008

The Bourdeaus are sitting around the table at Towers eating their Thanksgiving dinner. Clayton begins probing his son for details about his plans. Remy claims that he has been busy but doesn't explain anymore. His father squints at him as he starts to look for a way out of the dinner. Christina calls Remy's phone to ask him if they are divorced yet. When his family begins telling him to get off the phone, he hangs up. Christina is furious and plods off. Meanwhile, Clayton and Felecia tell the children their own meeting story. Christina suddenly arrives, Remy leaps up. She rants at him until they remind her it's Thanksgiving. Mel introduces her around and Remy claims she is just a friend. They invite her to sit down to dessert. The family questions her and asks about her MCAT results. Remy tries to stop this but she lashes out at him and then stands up to announce that she is really Remy's wife. His family are shocked into silence. Remy hides behind a napkin and then begins explaining. He and Christina bicker and Mel explains that they have to have a divorce. Clayton stops them and says that this could be a good situation. "Things happen for a reason," he says. "The reason was they were drunk,' Felecia adds. Christina walks off. Remy's parents yell at him to run after her. Leah laughs.

Remy chases Christina down as she crosses the train tracks. She yells at him to stay on his side of the town and tells him that he doesn't know how good he has it. He thinks she is being crazy and making a big deal out of nothing. She claims that nothing is all she has. She doesn't even have a family. Her parents are gone and she was raised by her grandmother but she barely knows who she is anymore. Then she had to meet him and 'the Huxtables'; it just makes her realize how bad she actually has it. He explains that he brought her the pie she left behind and invites her back to his car.

It Doesn't Change My Mind.

Mel and Remy arrive at Company to meet with Christina. They hand her a copy of the annulment papers. She jokingly says she's glad that if she was going to marry someone and get it annulled, it was him. He hands her some study guides for the MCATs and spills a drink on an envelope. When Mel picks it up, she notices that it is the annulment papers he was supposed to send in yesterday. Today is the deadline and they'll now be too late for an annulment and have to get a divorce. Christina is annoyed. Remy explains that there must have been a mistake. He offers to rush her to the office so they can take care of this in person. They run off.

Remy and Christina arrive at the office. He searches around and then tells her that Mr. Perkins, the man who can stamp their form, is gone for the day. She's furious. She's done everything right her whole life and then she met him and her life started falling apart. He tries to make a joke. She cries and gets angry. He offers to track down the missing bureaucrat and get this taken care of. They go to the corner store and have to pay the clerk for a tip on where Mr. Perkins is. After leaving his number, Remy's ready to run off searching again. She wants to give up. He tells her that's a good reason they should get divorced; he doesn't want to be married to a quitter.

They track Mr. Perkins down at Towers. He's not happy to have his meal interrupted and is not helpful. Remy tries to control his anger but Christina doesn't. She attacks him and hopes he chokes on his dinner. When she storms away, Remy runs after her. She couldn't stand to see him grovel to a jerk like Mr. Perkins. He's impressed. She says she'll be glad to divorce him.

It's not a Scam, it's a Marriage.

The ringing phone wakes Remy. By the time he picks it up, there's no one on the line. He rolls out of bed and trips over the poker chips on the floor before stumbling into the bathroom. After brushing his teeth, he pulls back the shower curtain and finds Christina sleeping in the tub. "This can't be good," she groans. They walk into the bedroom. He wraps himself in a fake fur. She feels like she is dying and has no idea where she is. They piece together the previous evening and begin collecting their clothes. There's a knock at the door. She answers. A bellhop walks in with balloons and champagne. He congratulates the newlyweds and hands them the free photo of their marriage. They're shocked. Christina gags. Remy asks if it's a scam. "It's a marriage!" the bellhop says, explaining that he was a witness and it was a lovely ceremony. Remy is livid and throws him out of the room. Christina never wants to drink again. "I think a hangover is the least of our problems," Remy says, running into the bathroom to be sick.

Remy and Christina return to Springfield and hurry to the courthouse to get un-married. She's furious that this happened and she doesn't even know his middle name. "It's 'Tucson'," he explains. She doesn't care. They bicker until Mel walks by and starts laughing when she hears Christina say that they're married. They go into the courtroom and tell Mel the story. Christina is insistent that the marriage was never consummated. Mel says an annulment takes time. Christina stumbles away, leaving him to sort it out. Mel tells his brother that Christina could actually be good for him; they already argue like a married couple. He forbids her to tell their parents about this and walks out. She laughs.

Remy goes to see Christina at the gym. She's not happy that they are still married. He laughs while she complains about what a slob he is. He admits that they do sound like an old married couple. She walks off to the sauna to sweat it out. He laughs more.

I Think I Might Love You.

Remy goes to see Christina at the gym. She tells him it will cost him 90 dollars an hour for her services. That's not why he's there. He feels terrible that her score on the MCATs was so bad and urges her not to give up. "I'll just work harder and sleep less. I've had to work for everything in my life... unlike some people," she snipes before walking away. He works out for awhile. She returns. He argues with her and tells her that her attitude sucks. She thinks that he's a 'golden child' and gets everything handed to him. "You just make things too hard," he says. He can handle pressure instead of putting everything on his back. As he walks out, Mel watches from the doorway. When she walks in, she tells Christina that lots of people have to take the test more than once. Christina has already signed up to write it again and hopes one day she can do an internship with her. Mel says it takes more than grades to be a good doctor, it takes compassion and suggests that she have some for her brother. She tells her about the baby he lost, Ava leaving and Tammy dying. Christina didn't know about any of that. Mel suggests that she do her homework next time and walks out. Christina sighs.

An angry Remy meets with his gambling contact in the alley outside Company. He freaks out and starts yelling about his street cred. His contact walks way. Remy calls to get some more shifts at work. Cristina walks by. He's ready to walk away but she stops him and apologizes for judging him. She offers her sympathies for everything he's been through and admits that she tries too hard. "Can you teach me how to handle the pressure?" she asks. Mallet and Marina run out and announce that they are getting married. "That's a catastrophe!" he laughs. They ask him to come with them and be their witness. Excited, he agrees and asks Christina to come with him. Laughing, they all run off.
