Well, from what I read after Michael Zaslow passed away, GL exe's promised to never replace the Roger character. It was their tribute to Zaslow. They said that Roger WAS Zaslow and to try and get a new actor to play the part would be a "disgrace". Therefore, Roger is gone for good.

A perfect decision. That would be like trying to replace Reva. I wouldn't hear of such a thing!!!

Actually, there was another actor, Dennis Parlato, who played Roger after Michael Zaslow left the show, but he was only on for 11 episodes to wrap up Roger's storyline.

I agree that Roger is the ultimate villian because he was innately human and flawed but ultimately likeable. You could relate to him and feel his pain that then turned to anger and vengance. Alan has become too one-dimensional in recent years to be a truly great villian anymore. His actions have become more irrational than villianous. Phillip was never really a villian. His character was villified by the writers as a plot devise setting up the whodunnit storyline. Phillip will always be a good guy in my mind.

There is no question that Annie is the greatest female villian GL has had....for the same reason that Roger was the best male villian. You loved to hate her but could always see the human foible that motivated her treachery.

So Alan Spaulding! Villians have come and gone but Alan has outlasted them all.

If we're going male female on this deal:
Male - Roger Thorpe
Female - Carmen Santos

Couple - even though they are brother sister, Alan & Alex teamed up are a real handle.

Roger Thorpe and Annie Dutton -classic-- deprived because they were depraved and depraved because they were deprived.
