This has been BOTHERING me, for some time now. Why is it, that ALL of the woman of Springfield, NEED a man so much,(and no I'm not gay), They are mostly, one dimensional. I wish that there were woman with STRONG interests, of their own! I wish there was a hot woman, who was BUSY ENJOYING all that life has to offer, and too busy for men |

I wish there was a hot woman, who was BUSY ENJOYING all that life has to offer, and too busy for men I also would LOVE to see at least SOME of the women, have bigger portions of their 'roles', be apart from that of having a man/ getting a man/ leaving a man, or wanting a man. example: many years ago, I went through a really bad divorce. I decided to live my life, without ANY serious relationships, with men(no I am not gay). I went out with the girls, from time to time. I brought home a man, from time to time: I didn't care WHAT HIS NAME WAS, I got my rocks off, and sent him home, hoping he didn't let the door, 'hit him in the ass', as he left. I spent 5 years this way. Guiding Light needs a character like that. A female 'Jeffrey', if you will. I tried it too. I went through a really bad divorce and said i was done and living without men for awhile. I only last two years lol. I love my hubby a bunch, but i tell ya...to live my life only to worry about my needs and my wants can be a lovely fantasy. sigh. Not that i'd prefer it to not having my hubby..but all the women understand what i mean. Im almost in my 40's now and if i ever find myself single again..men will be the last thing on my mind..(well, for awhile anyway) lol it would be nice to have a female character on the show doing just that. Having a fulfilling life without a love interest |

Olivia's Achilles Heel to me is that she always is scheming to be a part of some man's life. Why oh why!? But on the other hand, when soaps write singular characters, viewers then whine about there not being enough romance on soaps. |

But on the other hand, when soaps write singular characters, viewers then whine about there not being enough romance on soaps. What's a writer to do? A writer NEEDS to make the charachter too irressistably HUMAN, that the viewers cannot WAIT to see more! I sooooo feel, as YOU DO Delongo, about Olivia! She is far too AWESOME a WOMAN, to be a 'man schemer'. She could start businesses, ALL ON HER OWN...No SPAULDINGS ALLOWED! Spaulding money, is sooooo yesterday AND B-O-R-I-N-G!! In the age we NOW LIVE IN, many, MANY, M-A-N-Y PEOPLE are selfmade MILLIONAIRES!! Many of them, SINGLE WOMEN!! They may be married, SINGLE and very moral, or SINGLE and 'ENJOYING MEN'....The idea, of only a 'small few', having MONEY, is outdated and archiac.... I would just LOVE, to see some type of writing, on this premise, for our BELOVED Guiding Light, it would definately elevate the shows ratings, to possibly #1 |

The world revolves around LOVE. Love of family, home, and jobs. What more can the writers do differently? I love how they have given Reva a carefree sex life, (for now). No commitments, just plain unadulterated sex! Every women's dream....Many women fantasize about this kind of lifestyle. To me, and yes Delonjo, I feel Olivia has shown us a woman that can have it all, a business, money, a child, and no man in her life. She might feel she needs one, but as an outsider looking in she has a great life. She needs no stinking ,Man!!!Just my thoughts on the subject. Men,are great, but, a pain in the butt, once in a while. Just ask any woman, and if they tell you no they are lying in your face. |

My ex-husband died in 1989. I dated someone till 1992, then told him to hit the road. |

Merrymarry,NOOOOoooo..this in NOT what I mean. When observed, most female characters, HAVE NO 'REAL PERSONALITY'. The soap women, are like...stepford wives |

Not to say I don't have many men friends, because I do. I go out with my women friends, and we have a ball. They can't understand, though, why I have no desire to get involved with a man. I LOVE my life as it is. I live alone, go see my grandchildren whenever I want, cook if I want to, watch what I want on TV, never have to explain why I'm working from home if I like, and have no one to try to tell me what I should do. You couldn't give me a man under a Christmas tree! This is along the lines, of a GREAT CHARACTER, soooo much can/could be done....YOU are living proof |

We need a chick, that comes to town, on a HARLEY. She is BEAUTIFUL, but doesn't care about that. She wears blue jeans and t-shirts, BUT they can't hide her rockin' body. |

Quote Hunter Madison: NOOOOoooo..this in NOT what I mean. When observed, most female characters, HAVE NO 'REAL PERSONALITY'. The soap women, are like...stepford wives Lets give at least SOME of these women, REAL PERSONALITIES. For instance, REVAS' character, for me, is so predictable and stale. She acts like she hasn't grown up at all. She, is loud, pushy and obnoxious. What worked for Reva, when she was 20, or even 30, IS NOT very appealing now. Do you see Reva working on projects that are 'outside the realm of lover or parent'??? They need to have a woman BOUNTY HUNTER, or a RECORD PRODUCING/ALBUM CUTTING GAL??? Get what I am aiming at???? Far be it from me to defend REVA, but I disagree with this. The character that you describe above is Harley: childish, pushy, loud, obnoxious and "not appealing." Well, you describe Harley and REVA, but REVA is upfront with her criminality. She will tell you, "Yea, I did it; do something about it!" It infuriates me that she gets away with such crap but it enthuses the REVAlites to no end. (sigh... Olivia was originally planned to be that "bounty hunter," take-no-prisoners type of gal. But the character of Olivia is thankfully more multidimensional than as a gratuitous bad girl because of CC's performances. (I can watch that woman read a phone book with my tongue hanging!) That's not who she is, and it kills the REVAlites sometimes that Olivia is many times more lawful than REVA. (Ha! Hehe Both REVA and Olivia are strong, independent women, which is why they get married each eight months and no man--No Man!--can contain them. They are both shrews who will not be tamed. They're spectacular! |

I gottcha Hunter, I just don't thin this storyline would last. Eventually, she would spot a man she wants, and bingo, her lifestyle has ended. Like I said before, it all revolves around love. To me, Dinah was a great character before she married Mallet. A fre spirit, a thief, a murderer, you name it Dinah did,it and then what happened ,she fell in love..See it is an unending story. By the way, I have been a widow for almost 3 years, even though I miss my hussband with a passion, I will never marry again. My life has changed and so have I. I have become a free spirit again, and having a great time. Good friends, great times, traveling with friends, etc. I don't need a man to fullfil my life, it is all up to me now!! |

I blame fairytales for indoctrinating little girls into believing that one doesn't live "happily ever after" until they get married in an arcane ceremony (that was originally designed to make women men's property...but I digress). Women were "spinsters" or worse words if they dared not be verified by a man. I'd be delighted still if Olivia turned out to be a lesbian. An amazingly beautiful, intelligent, loving mother, fierce defender of right and wrong who just happens to go the other way, so to speak. |
