I went on youtube and found a clip where Olivia tells Jeffrey that it was her fault.

This is the flash back episode.

I was young and stupid and drunk. I couldn’t think about anything except for what would make me feel good and what I could get away with. I’m sorry. I made a terrible mistake. I’m sorry.

Yep. Thank you! I was searching for this or a little while. There is Jeffrey's admission. That a direct quote from the exact episode. I'm not pulling this outta my butt. Now I hope this manufactured question mark can be put to bed. Jeffrey committed a rape. It was a rape. A woman doesn't have to be a bloody pulp and screaming in horrified terror before she can say that she was raped. Olivia admitted that she played an important role by defying her mother. Girls do that all the time. I guess all girls who disobey their mothers are "asking for it." Will you tell your daughter that? I'd hope not!

Tell my daughter what exactly? Your getting personal now.
Anyway...
Did you not see the part where Olivia has a flash back? That proves that this whole thing was her fault. Jeffrey is not blamless but, he did NOT rape her. She got drunk. She was flirting with him. She asked him to dance (he din't want to, she made him). And She kissed him (she told Jeffrey herself).
I realize that you will side with Olivia, because she is your fave character. I will protect my fave characters too. But TECHNICALLY it wasn't rape. Olivia said it her self.

Delonjo, I'm not saying that Jeffrey was right. He was wrong.
But she started the whole thing. In the clip as she reads her diary she states (in the diary) that she wanted to find prince charming. When she met Jeffrey she wanted him to be her prince charming. She was just being nieve, like most 16 year old girls. All Jeffrey did was take advantage of the situaltion.

Sorry that you dislike my message. I'm sorry you feel that way.

Technically and explicitly it was a rape. He had sex with a woman without her express consent. That's rape. She was drunk. She also was under the age of consent (in the US anyway). It was at least statutory rape. But this was the real deal. So what if she kissed him and giggled. Does it give a man the right to take advantage of a young girl because she flirted with him? "You asked for it, girlie!" "Look at what she was wearing!" A girl has no right to wear what she wants in this country of liberty and freedom. So what if her mother warned her. She realizes that. Rape victimes beat themselves up each and every day because they didn't heed warnings. Does that make it their fault? Violence is not necessary. Rape is sometimes not a violent, bloody act. Holly wasn't beaten to a bloody pulp, so I guess she's a liar.

Also, Olivia never had anything against Jeffrey. In fact, they were on very friendly terms for years. She didn't want the fact of the rape to be true because Jeffrey is a likeable chap. So she absolved him of guilt by taking some of the guilt on herself. Women do that a lot because they are maternal.

There is your admission. Any way you slice it, that's called rape.

Taking advantage of a person is not the same as raping a person.

Ok umm... Jeffrey didn't know that she was under age. She lied. But anyway...I guess that this is where we agree to disagree. We probably will not agree on this so lets just leave it at that. Ok? Friends? LOL.

Sure. I'm just sooooo shocked that sooooo many women are taking the side of a man who admitted to "taking advantage of" a drunk 16yo girl. I thought many people would be railing the other way. You guys are tough!

I'm with you on this one...so many guys think that a girl being drunk is the "okay signal" to go at it. Not true. Her senses were down and she didn't know what was happening. She was raped by him...no if's, and's or but's about it!!!!

LOL! Yeah, this just proves how diferently men and women think.
There is just 2 sides to the story. 1 is: She didn't say 'no.' and the 2nd is: She was in no position to say, 'no.'
I really have never been 'taken advantage of' or 'raped' so I really don't know how she felt. But I do think that it is awful to have a child come out of all of this.Possibly a 'rape baby' depending on your side of the story. Espescially that the news killed your mother. I was just going by the definition of 'rape.'
You are very persuasive LOL I'm now second guessing weather or not it was rape.

Olivia was playing off being much older & lied about her age...Would that still be considered statutory rape. How would Jeffrey know she was underaged since she lied about her age?I'm still in agreement that it was rape(among other things like disgusting)if she was unconscious during the act but I don't know if you can really call it statutory rape. If Olivia hadn't become pregnant do you think this would have become such a big issue or would it have been a mistake that they have both come to regret?

Wow what a discussion this has been. I, personally don't call it a rape. It was two teens playhing with fire, as all teens attempt to do at times. These two young teens ,drank, got drunk, had sex, enough said. I will never say Jeffrey "raped" Olivia. They are both to blame. Olivia, admitted it was all her fault, which I tend to agree with her. She went to the party trying to act grown up, and got trapped in her own web. I for one, think that I have discussed this topic to death. I will now let it rest in peace! Oliva, has worked through this episode in her life, and moved on. So will I....

I agree. However I really do feel sorry for her about that night and carring a child that in her mind was a 'rape baby' and blaming herself for her mothers death...thats hard on a 16 year old girl.
