I'm sorry but this just kept comming back to me.

The whole Olivia/Jeffrey S/L...how many of you think that he raped her?

I don't think that it would be considered rape. She never said, 'no.' She never aked him to stop. Besides taking advantage of her I think that the only thing that Jeffrey did wrong was leaving her alone and pregnant in the morning, and not comming back.
I don't think that what he did was right but technically all he did was take advantage of her. Not rape her. IMO.

The writers never clairified anything. They dropped it, and I'm so thankful that they did.

I do not think it was rape. I agree the writers just let it go. Thank God I already got beat down a few weeks ago on that one. But I stick by my feelings it was not rape in my books.

No, I do not think it was "rape" and I am tired of the whole subject.

No. Of course it wasn't a rape. He only admitted that he was guilty to Olivia and felt supreme remorse to make her feel better. This was Jeffrey's "good" lie. Isn't he a dreamboat that he would throw himself under Olivia's bus like that unnecessarily? Whattaman! Women always falsely cry "rape" gratuitously 25 years later because they have nothing better to do with their time or their lives. And women, as a habit, always give away for adoption their firstborn child because it's easier for her. Olivia had a problem with Ava's simple existence for no reason. She tried to kill Ava to vanquish the pain from her life because she wants Jeffrey in her bed. Huhn?

I mean, seriously. If Olivia wasn't raped, REVA didn't have cancer.

Hell no she wasn't raped. Period.

Rape- any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person.

She was never forced, she never even asked him to stop. she was wide awake when he took her upstairs and she layed down on the bed.

So a drunk young girl has to scream her head off or it's not rape? A woman must have physical bruises and burns and scratches all over her body. If not, it was consensual. "Why didn't you fight?" If you didn't fight, you weren't raped. These are pre-feminism laws that never took the feelings and circumstances of women into account. Yeah, let's go back to those days when women had no representation and here victims of men's "superior wisdom." Just lie there and take it, girl. No one is gonna believe you because you didn't scream.

I find it odd that I, a man, have more compassion for the situation of young women then a bunch of women.

Jeffrey didn't rape her. He's too good-looking to have to rape anybody. "Hey, Mr. District Attorney, rape me! Rape me!" Are you guys serious?

As a woman, I get offended by the way Soaps sometimes romanticize rape in their s/l. Although some s/l's have been realistic showing the physical and emotional trauma rape can cause, there are also the s/l's that make it seem like a romantic gesture. Case in point, the so-called King and Queen of daytime, Luke and Laura. Supposedly we are to believe that these 2 soulmates began their love affair when Luke "raped" Laura. There was also Roger and Holly on ATWT and here we go again with Olivia and Jeffrey. If Olivia was truly raped by Jeffrey there is no way she would be going to these drastic measures to date him.

I am not trying to be insensitive when I say this, but you can't rape the willing, and from all of the scenes I've seen surrounding this s/l, Olivia was more than willing. She came to the party with her own bottle in her purse, got stone drunk, flirted with Jeffrey like crazy and voluntarily went upstairs with him. Even in her flashbacks I don't remember ever hearing her say the word no or stop, but I could be mistaken.

I really wish the writers would take this type of crime seriously and not as a catalyst for a romantic coupling, it diminishes the true horror that rape really is.

Yep, blame the victim. Wow! The "she asked for it" defense. "You wanted it; just admit it."

It's unrealistic that Olivia is chasing after him now, but he originally pursued her during her engagement to Buzz. But this is conveniently left out of the arguments. We don't want to tarnish our knight in shining armor or our masculine fantasies, do we? Noooooo. Olivia, because she isn't a sympathetic stay-at-home, cookie-baking homemaker, she couldn't have been raped. "Bad girls" aren't raped. "Good boys" don't rape. I get it now. Women are invariably a bunch of liars who, when they suddenly regret their own loose morality, cry "rape" thirty years later. If you didn't want to be raped, why'd you leave the house. It's your fault.

I never discounted REVA's old-man-and-the-pie story. Did she ask for it too? She wasn't a bloody pulp, so she's a liar. I'm so offended that I could scream.

Jeffrey and Olivia were drunken teenagers when they had sex back in San Cristobel EONS ago. It is time to move on. Jeffrey and Reva are happy together so Olivia need to torture another man. She will never be happy and she wasn't happy before she ever went to any party. Olivia needs to forgive others but forgive herself first and then she will be much happier.

You are so seriously over the top it's funny. And now your trying to say we are defending 'Jeffrey' because he's hot? How insulting.

I can tell you from experience that when I was much younger and "socialized" at the bars quite frequently there were many times I put myself in the same place as Olivia and Jeffrey. Many times I had regrets over what had taken place, but I took responsibility for my part in it. I was never raped, but I did spend the night with people I wouldn't have if I hadn't become drunk the night before.

Serious question here...has anyone ever seen a clip where either Olivia said stop or Jeffrey heard stop and continued anyway?

Unfortunately, we never saw everything that happened, so I can't say for sure whether it was rape or not.

Still, Olivia did say that she didn't want it. Whether she said no to it or not, she didn't actually say yes to sex, vocally speaking. Because she was drunk, Olivia was incapable of consenting to anything at that moment.

Also, Olivia told us that she passed out at the moment of sex. This confession bothers me a lot, because if a person is unconscious, then it falls to the remaining conscious partner to make a decision, on whether or not to proceed.

Yes, Jeffrey was drunk too, but he should have at least noticed that Olivia's eyes were closed (he was facing her at the time), and not taken advantage of the situation. He also said (in the ITL episode) that he didn't care whether or not Olivia wanted it, just that he wanted it. So, if Jeffrey saw that Olivia was unconscious, and just didn't care, then yes, he did rape her.

Unfortunately, a big gap exists between them lying on that bed and the aftermath. Until those missing scenes are played out in thier entirety, I'll never know for certain what happened.
