Besides being upset at Philip's involvement with the woman who almost destroyed her mother's reputation, Lizzie also feared that she would become #2 in her dad's life. As Lizzie became increasingly unstable, she created an accident to literally trip up a pregnant Olivia! To protect herself and her unborn child, Olivia left town. Sensitive Philip was so upset at the thought of never seeing his daughter again, he began to unravel. Then Olivia came back, and told Philip the baby had died. Later, we found out that she lied to protect Emma from Lizzie. After a while, Cassie finally persuaded Olivia to trust Philip, and tell him that Emma was really alive. Unfortunately, Olivia was still insecure about her daughter's future at Spaulding. So, she married Philip while he was at Ravenwood, and tried to get him to sign Emma as his only heir. Philip never forgave her for that deception. After some electric shock therapy (performed by Dr. Rick), Philip emerged cured (or so everyone thought). Instead, he devoted his life to becoming a carbon copy of Alan. He destroyed Harley's home, had Olivia deported, tried to buy Cross Creek, blackmailed Billy, etc. This culminated in the kidnapping of Beth, Olivia, and Harley's kids. Eventually, someone decided he was better off dead, and shot him. Only months later was it revealed that his own father shot Philip. Transporting his son to an abandoned building, Alan converted one of the rooms into an exact copy of the Spaulding boardroom, where Philip remained until his escape. He's been at large ever since. |

I still don't understand why everyone knows that he is alive yet no one wants to look for him. Not even Lizzie--his daughter!...or does she not know that he is alive? |

I believe it's because Phillip knows that he's not well and he's staying away. I think everyone is respecting those wishes. I still don't see why Alan or Lizzie don't find him, but I believe Rick said, when it came out that he was alive, that Phillip didn't want to be found because he thought he would just end up hurting more people. It all came out when Ross "died" in the plane crash. |
