Guiding Light - MESSAGE BOARDS

There seem to be very much (IMO) negetive threads/comments about GL lately so I thought that I would start a positive thread.

Despite the current ratings of GL I think that it is a very interesting saop to watch.

I love the actors (past and present). I think GL has many wonderful and extreamly talanted actors such as Kim Zimmer, Murray Bartlett, Ron Raines, Tom Pelphrey, Crystal Chapell, and many more.
And,
I love the (future) story lines. If you read spoilers, I think GL has some very interesting s/l up ahead.

What do you love about GL?

Despite the current ratings of GL

I really don't worry about there ratings.GL has been around for 70 years and still counting That is something to be very proud of.i LOVE GL and have for 36 years now and i don't think that will ever change.

Every soap has it's up's and down's and the fans have to take the bad as well as the good.Some S/L are not good and some are great thats all in the name of soapland

There have been times that i get mad and i think ok what is going on must we do this LOL.but hey i still watch.I have never had to FF the GL nothing has bord me that bad.I have never had to turn the GL off,wow i would miss my show if i done that.That would be sad to me

So many great Actor's have come and gone and i miss them and yes i could name a list about three miles long that i would love to see come back but the show must and will go on !!

But we still have great Actor's on our light and i will watch GL as long as it is on the air.Some of them make me mad but thats the name of the ballgame,but i still love them and i don't want them to leave us.They work there butts off just for us the fans and we all know that what they do is not easy,so thats just some of the reason's why i LOVE GL,if i was to post everything i love about my fav,soap,i would be up all night LOL.

GL is like an extended family or an old friend...I like to see what the characters are up to everyday. I've been watching it off & on since approx. 1976. There have been times I didn't watch it for a couple of years at a time. It wasn't because I didn't want to watch it. It was more because of life circumstances, not being home when it was on the air & not having a recording device. Technological advances are great...makes your favorite shows much more accessible. It's fun catching up with all the old characters after not watching for awhile, figuring out who the new ones are & who their rivals are, etc.
I've tried to watch other soaps but I don't know the history of the characters the way I know the GL characters. I'm not as in tune with other soaps characters as much as GL's. To me, they are all great!I can't really say I hate any one character but I do love many. Some posters say they FF through scenes, but I never do that because when you FF you may miss some tidbit that seems irrelevant at the time but later on will become revelant.
I hope GL continues to be on the air for many more years!

I agree i love GL. I have been watching ever since the days , of Beth and Lujack. By the way, they were never as hot as Jonathan and Tammy, who i miss so much. I love the storylines, and i think its great how they are publishing a book, about Jonathans life after Tammy. I plan on buying that book as soon as it comes out.

I've been watching this show for about 20 years. My husband likes to tease me about watching it, but back before kids when I taped it everyday 'cause I was working, he'd sit and watch it with me every night.

I think just like authors, GL staff isn't going to get it right 100% of the time, but when they do get it right (Jon and Tammy, who shot Phillip, Annie, Roger Thorpe) it's amazing the writing that takes us through. And after all, they would have lost their jobs by now, if they weren't people watching. And there are definately people watching. Just look at all the people that post on this site (I enjoy each and everyone of you)...GL means a little to all of us.
