Guiding Light - MESSAGE BOARDS

Even though the characters do things that we all know are morally wrong & could never get away with in real life...which "bad guy/girl" don't you mind seeing getting away with things or hope they don't get "caught"? Just wondering who is right even when they do wrong.

Reva!!! In fact, I cant remember when she did something morally right, but I always root for her!

Even if they get caught, they really have nothing to worry about because there are no consequences. Everyone pretty much does whatever they want.

In S/F I think everyone but Alan is right or at least seems to be right even when their wrong.

Ahhh...the age old question asking what's the difference between ethics and morality.

Morality = good/evil
Ethics = right/wrong

I'm certain that REVA sees hers actions as ethical if not immoral. Anything for the movement (i.e., REVAlitism), is how the feeling goes. She believes that she is performing her actions for a "greater good." You know, kidnapping, mutilation, falsifying deaths, faking a car accident are a small price to pay for saving ones child and ones self from paying for their crimes. Staying out of prison -- except for the occasionally raping of innocent prisoners who are just trying to do their time and mind their business -- is REVA's joie de vivre. She's always one step ahead of Frank and the cops. (LOL...with Marina on the force and Frank the chief, it's no wonder that REVA's criminal enterprise has grown to such monumental proportions.) Anything to smear Olivia she feels is ethical/right and moral/good because she -- and her voluminous multitude of supporters -- sees herself as ethical/right and moral/good, regardless of the empirical evidence that stresses otherwise, and all who are against REVA are labeled immoral/evil and unethical/wrong. Even Nicole had to admit once that REVA needs to "cut the crap" by laying the hypocritical pretenses to the side and wear her inner trashbag without embarrassment.

blah blah blah. For someone that hates Reva so much you certainly are OBSESSED with her. You talk about her more than your Beloved Olivia.

ITA with you, Revasfan... Delanjo, why do you think that YOU are right? Maybe we think we are as well. Who is to say that we all are? Or none of us is. No one is right or wrong here, its only a soap and we like to discuss it in our own way. Pretty full of yourself..

Oops...I just asked the question because I remember a friend once saying when her brother was in some kind of trouble, "Even if he did it, he didn't do it." I thought that statement was kind of funny at the time. Thinking about it I could see how much of this goes on, on GL.

Personally, I like when Lizzie does things & gets away with it. She looks so angelic, how could she do wrong?

Delonjo, Princess123 and Revasfan, please do not make your arguments personal. Keep it focussed on the characters and just have fun.

It is sometimes very hard to watch the stars of our soap make such fools of themselves (the s/l's don't always go the direction we want them to). It would be nice to see a little depth to a s/l or two. Such as a real love relationship that remains constant even thru some bumps along the way or a parent/child relationship that stands the test of time. I believe that many of present vilains go "wrong" because it seems to be what most fans want...they want a fight, they want a fued, they want infidelity, they want blackmail, and other nasties because their own life is not like that (I hope). Soaps are a place where one can incorporate (these nasties) into their daily life as a safe outlet.
So the answer to the question would have to be ... they are all RIGHT when they do WRONG. The stars do what the writers dictate, we get out daily dose of nasties and we also get to state our opinions here on the boards. What could be better?
