Dylan was conceived during a one-night-stand between Billy and Reva. Billy's first wife (Mindy's mom) had passed away and Josh was away at college. Both B/R were depressed, so they found comfort in each other. When Reva found out she was pregnant, she didn't want to impose on the Lewis's but the Shaynes couldn't afford another mouth to feed, so with Hamp's help, Reva gave the child (Dylan) up for adoption.

Dylan met up with Harley, and Harley became pregnant with Daisy. Before Harley had a chance to tell Dylan that she was pregnant, Dylan was arrested and sent to prison for robbery. Harley didn't know where Dylan went or how to find him, so when Daisy was born she gave her up for adoption to the Lemay family. A couple years later, Dylan was released from prison and was looking for Harley. He found out that Harley was married to Alan Michael and Harley told him about Daisy. A child of adoption himself, Dylan wanted to find his daughter. Dylan got a job as a babysitter for the Lemay's so that he could be near his little girl. Dylan tried to convince Harley that they should try to get custody of Daisy. AlanMichael got mad because of the time that Dylan and Harley were spending together, so he told the Lemay's that their babysitter was Daisy's biological father. Harley got mad at AM for destroying their chances of getting Daisy back, so she found comfort in Dylan's arms... and they made love.

AlanMichael then "stole" Daisy/Susan from the Lemays, and Dylan was immediately fingered as the culprit. AM thought this would "win back" Harley. They went on the run, and Dylan went after them. While out looking for them, Billy (with a pregnant Reva in the car) hit Dylan. While waiting for help to arrive, Reva noticed a birthmark Dylan had and knew he was her son she had given up. She told Josh that Dylan was a product of rape, but later admitted that she slept with his brother and that Billy was Dylan's daddy.
