Hi Guiding Light fans-

Just wanted to say I am really sorry you lost your soap. I understand the traditions in the families and growing up watching these shows. It is actually like that with me and my mom with Days of our Lives.
I watched when Crystal Chappel was 1st on Days, but she has matured and is even greater now after acting on GL than she was originally on Days.
The reason Im writing is to plead you to choose Days over any other soap. All though we are #3 in the ratings, we are constantly threatened with cancellation due to the fact we are on NBC, the major network that is doing the worst in general. They are constantly saying its going off the air. We have been threatened for years.So please start watching and help us try to at leas surpass B&B in ratings..
I'll be honest, days was real good in the 1980's abd early 1990's.. It got horribly stupid in the lat 90's and early 2000's with supernatural stuff. But is has changed again a great deal in the past few years to get back to a normal soap.
Dont know if this would happen, but I would love love to see Kim Zimmer join (I remember her years ago also on Santa Barbara)
So in conclusion, please help save Days and give it a chance!

I started watching Days one day and it happened to be Carly's first day back I like the character she's a strong women like the old Olivia. I am getting in to the story lines and it has real promise nothing will ever replace G&L. I like the idea that it's not on CBS I am determined to boycott them. I like that it has a high rating as well I don't want to get into another soap just to have it canceled.
PS some really good looking guys too makes it easy on the eyes.

I share your views on CBS to a point but if we do not watch the shows on there, B&B, Y&R, ATWT then they too will be taken off. While it is not fun to have one that we are watching taken off, that is exactly what will happen if we do not watch, no viewers, then it is sure to be taken off!!

I would love to help you with watching Days, but it is on the same time as my all time favorite ATWT's...I will go back and forth for a while and see if I can get interested in it. Sorry that you are having to worry about it being taken off, I hate that, we all went thru it with GL and are once again doing the same thing with ATWT, but we must support as many as we can or else there will be no more soaps in a few years, that really makes me sad..

i am planning on turning to days to help get over the loss of gl! i must say it is hard to catch on to the new story lines and figure out who is who but it shouldnt take too long. i am still too mad at cbs to watch any of their shows! i guess i am way to stubborn for my own good! and with jonathan coming to as the world turns i should watch it his acting his amazing but why when i know it is alreaady being cancelled? i still need to pout abit longer and think about it i also want to give all my children a try i think tammy gus and harley are all on that show now but i could be wrong.i have limited time so one maybe two is all i can watch. oh i promised my hubby that i would say for him that kim zimmer has run her course

I understand those of you who no longer tune into CBS.. Honestly if they take Days away, I will no longer tune into NBC so i can feel that.
Crystal is doing great so far. Breath of fresh air. Has made me excited to watch Days daily. But they need to show her more- Im thinking they will once the story gets rolling even more.
To be honest I watch 2 other shows when I can (Its tuff to keep up on all!). I watch GH and AMC also. But Days is my #1 over all 3. GH can be good, a little too much mob stuff though and they dont care much about actor/character history. But its my #2. Once the Spencers are gone (Luke, Lucky- which I hear may be by next year, Im done)
AMC I was liking for a while. (it is my newest, I got hooked on soapnet in about 2005). Its been kind of not that great honestly lately though. Alot of bad writing and changes in writing. Beth Ehlers they barely wrote for, never giving her a chance, then just fired her. I also I hear that will be the first one to probably get the boot from ABC.
So my best recommendation though is Days.

After GL went off, I tried to watch DOOL. I use to watch it off and on several years ago and was planning to watch it again because I had read that Vivian was coming back. However, I turned it on the other day and was going to start watching it again until I seen that Bo and Hope are apart once again. For some reason, the writers think that they have to separate them every little bit. Then Carly is back and I don't like her. I was looking forward to seeing Vivian again, but if they are planning to pair Bo with Carly or Hope with Justin, I won't be watching. Sorry! I really did want to watch DOOL again. I like alot of the characters on DOOL.

Since GL was taken off the air I have been recording ATWT,
since I too have boycotted watching CBS daytime shows. With all the sophistication in our electronic age you would think they would come up with a way to include people who are recording these shows to watch when there is nothing else worth while watching on TV. With people working in the daytime and the inventions of VCR, DVR, & Tivo's there should be a way of tracking that activity. I believe sometimes they just look for ways to promote what they want.
Frankly, another Judge show, Talk show or game show would drive me up a wall. I have tuned in to some of the other soaps that are left. ATWT & Days are the 2 that I have started to record. I like what I have seen the past month.
All my Children and One Life to Live haven't won me over.
I agree All my Children did not give Beth a fair chance to catch on, but that is there loss and I hope Beth goes on to
better things. So Days fan you may include one more fan to
your club. GL will always hold a special spot in my heart,
but then I have a big heart!!!

I have chosen Days and I really am getting into it. Carly is doing beautifully so far, and why wouldn't she? CC is a fantastic actress. I do miss her as Olivia, but I like her as Carly too.
