Guiding Light - MESSAGE BOARDS

I don't know yet what I'll do with the hour that I always watched Guiding Light, but it won't be watching CBS.

I am having that same problem today. This is the time of day that I would be watching the show.

What am I going to do when I have no soap to watch for the first time in over 49 years? For years I watched while my kids were growing up and I was a stay at home mom that babysat. It was "my time"...sorta. You know how that goes. You try to carve out time to eat by yourself and watch your soap, but you wind up grateful that you can at least listen to the story and glance at the screen when the story or music lets you know it's time, because one wakes up and the dishes need to be done and the floors swept and the laundry needs folding....Know how I knew I was pregnant with my second? At the famous prom, 4 pictures popped up like the Brady bunch of Phillip, Beth, Rick, and Mindy, and I was folding the laundry and suddenly burst out bawling, although I knew there was no rational reason to. I took a pregnancy test, but the REAL pregnancy test was Guiding Light that day!

Now I work super long hours and I love my job and it's really exciting and packed with interesting people and experiences. The son born a little over 8 months after The Prom is now wanting to get his masters degree in biochemistry and the daughter that came three years later has been coming home from the college where she attends up the road several times a week to sit with me and catch up on faithfully-recorded Guiding Lights (recently streamed online due to the digital change). I no longer watched at 2pm every day, because of work and wanting to save them to experience with my daughter, but you can darned well bet we would skip any of the primetime shows if we had to make the choice between catching up on our soap and keeping up with primetime tv! Even my hubby watched GL off and on over the years. That infamous cloning Reva thing? This science-oriented family thought it was hilarious fun, and my hubby actually ran over to watch those episodes and wouldn't let me watch them without him!

For the first time in my life, I have no soap to look forward to. No ongoing storyline--bad, good or mediocre. NO REVA?????? She can't possibly come back to life EVER AGAIN????? Nada. Fellow GL message board posters and viewers, I really need to get back to work now, and I can see by my emails that it will be another long, exciting work day, but there is just no replacing my soap time! My daughter says she'll meet me for "One Life to Live"? and "ATWT" because of Tom Pelphry. I don't know...maybe....right now, I just miss Guiding Light....
