Guiding Light - MESSAGE BOARDS

Well I liked the finale, can't believe its over.

Didn't like,

1) No resolution to Jefferey and Edmund. Give us a hint?
2) Its the final show, don't care about Matt getting a date.
Final show don't care that much about Daisy going to school, some is fine but little much.
4) didn't see for sure that Phillip and Beth were married in one year.
5) Why weren't Bill, Billy, and Lizzie at the Mansion in OLY to Mindy and Rick.
6) the quick Mallet, Dinah appearance give us more or nothing.
7) Why did Reva and Josh leave town, he just got back?
in OYL they are at a highschool baseball game for a playoff in September.

5) Blake and Frank (shocked me too)

7) Reva and Josh together
Lizzie finally pregnant
9) Phillip and Beth did appear to be a couple
10) Cyrus and Remy, 'SUPER COPS'

Would have liked to see/hear
1) brief mention of Harley, Zach, Jude at least in the OLY would have loved an older Jude and Zach and Rick and Mindy party.
2) mentions of Alan Michael, India, etc.
Who is now running Spaulding?
4) confirmation that Phillip and Beth are married
5) see reaction of Lizzie and James that Philip and Beth were engaged.
6) Ed return for Rick and Mindy's party
7) Father Ray at the party also, (someone has to marry them)
The entire town and Mindy and Rick's party, at least Mindy's Dad and Brother Billy and Bill, plus Lizzie for Uncle Rick.
9) reference to Jefferey and what happened.
10), Final scene a lackey talks to figure in shadow about buying up Spaulding stock and that he is ready to take over. The figure leans into the light and its Alan.

in the WTF category,
I almost laughed hearing Jonathan call Billy, "uncle Billy" and sound like he meant it. Its like he has become an upstanding member of the community or something.

Dislikes:

1. I didn't like the fact that a year later Natalia still looked pregnant.

3. Not knowing for sure if Mallet and Dinah were an item - married/dating/etc.

3. Vanessa was missing; hasn't been seen since her wedding.

I didn't like how they left Jeffrey just hanging in limbo. Why didn't they just kill him off?
Also, they should have brought Alan Michael back for Alan's funeral. He's on the B&B now, he could have come to the funeral.
No mention of Harley.
It's kind of like they just threw everything together at the last minute. I thought I would cry, but it was too cheesey for me to cry over.

I feel like I lost another chunk of my childhood. This has been a rough summer for me ie: Michael Jackson, Ed McMahon, now GL ok well for my likes:
I loved Alan and kind of liked that they ended his character.

Disliked:
No mention of Mike Bauer which was on of the main members of the Bauer family
No mention of Hope Bauer
No Vanessa after wedding I agree with another poster
Doris did not have anyone in her life male or female
Don't Care:
Daisy/Ashley in school
Rafe's military career
Jonathan returning to Springfield...oh well okay for Lizzie
Frank & Blake who cares
Cyrus & Mel such a mismatch would have liked her back with Rick
But all in all gave me some closure. Especially the Reva & Josh ending...sweet. But I did love me some Jeffery and Reva.

Natalia still looked pregnant because she just had a baby in real life...most women don't go flat right after right??

Loved that Fletcher came back for Alex. I was a huge fan of this couple from day one. I was so surprised to see him walk in the room that I shouted "oh my God, I can't believe it". My husband thought I had lost my mind. Loved that they drove off into the sunset together. I only wish there had been more to their story....like where they where going (hopefully to "their island").

The best thing that happened was Josh & Reva being together where they belong.I cryed the whole show.

What I really appreciated in the show was the fact that the actors/characters (you could tell the actors cared about the characters' legacy you'd say) were the feeling they gave to the finale -
A salute from Edmund
A kiss from Nola
A kiss and cry from Alex
The sobbing from Lillian
The hugs given all around
The actual looks to the cameras at us.

What I wish I would have seen -
Jenna's and Nadine's ghosts giving approval to Buzz and Lillian's wedding
Maureen forgiving Lillian
Tammy's ghost walking with Jonathan and Sarah to see Lizzie for the first time or waiting for Jonathan at the house.
All Alan's children at his funeral
Hawk meeting his great grandson

What I didn't like --
The hokiness of the last minute "We're moving back to Springfield" yeah its great but come on, give us some credit. Danny/Michelle and especially Mindy - really?

So now are Shayne and Marina a couple? They were close but then pulled away...

Was that party w/the 4 musketeers for Rick and Mindy's wedding or Phillip and Beth's wedding. I thought Mindy told Phillip to get Rick to the church on time, but with the other comments here now i'm not sure...

Disliked:
- No ending for Jeffrey/Edmund (my god, the writers dragged their feet on this for months! this whole storline was just stupid from the beginning and the writers are stupid for thinking that anyone would like this ending of their beloved show...and Ellen Wheeler is stupid for allowing it to happen)!

- No Marah, no love interst for Jonothan, no Carmen

- Shayne and Dinah should be together! They were on their way to being the big supercouple for the show. Marina doesn't belong with Shayne.

- Still no real kiss between Olivia and Natlia!

- The whole Remy and Christina marriage (again and again and yet again). How so very stupid.

Likes:
- Reva and Josh together
- Mindy and Rick together
- Michelle, Danny and Mindy moving back
- Phillip and Beth getting married (later)
- Alexandra finally having some scenes worthy of her talent
- The lighthouse at the end
- The tribute of all of the GL openings at the beginning

All in all, i think the writers wasted too much time and tried to fill space with empty stories that had no meaning. This could have been much better and made much more sense, but for some reason, the powers that be found this acceptable to air. Oh well. I promise you this. I will not watch ATWT because I can't go through this ordeal again (and it will happen because the people that gave us this are now in charge of scripts over there). I'm moving on to Days of Our Lives with Crystal Chappell!!!!

my husband thinks im nuts for being so upset about this...i was crying when the show went off and he called me a big titty baby..yea i am..i just lost a huge peice of my late grandmother and my life...i have this lump in my thorat that wont go away..

oh my god! the way they did reva and josh! that was perfect!! i'm so happy i saw my fav couple of all time together again before it all died out!

Lizzie finally peragant for Bill and reunited with sarah..Lizzie has matured alot since the Tammy thing and i'm glad Jonathan came back to springfeild with Sarah for her.

Frank and Blake..the way that happened was so cute!!!i loved that Nat named the baby after Frank

My Dislikes~
who cares about Dasiy? they wasted to much time on her..i love her sence with james tho..

no Vanessea at the year later part..what happened there?

no hint of what happened to jeffery and edmund

Shanye with Marina!!!! Ah!!! hate it!! i loved dinah and mallet but i got really into shaye and dinah!! and u dont know if mallet and dinah were a couple or not..that sucked!

no beth and phillip wedding!!!!

I like the final pairing what we didn't like we can fix in our heads. I can imagine Jeffrey going back to Cassie. I think they did the best they could with the low budget no sets having to do everything in a park. what a terrible way to treat all those fine actors and actresses after all their years of hard work. for all the cheap low budget they sure put in enough commercials. they tell us we are has bins with no buying power so why all the commercials? CBS sucks.

Liked:
1. Bill and Lizzie being pregnant.
2. Natalia and Olivia and the baby.
3. Frank and Blake together.
4. Josh and Reva going off into the sunset.
5. Jonathan and Sarah coming back to town.
6. Alan dying a hero.

Disliked:
1. The complete disappearance of Jeffrey and Edmund.
2. What's going on with Mallet and Dinah?
3. Vanessa had disappeared at the end.
4. There was no wedding for Philip and Beth.

I guess they had to wrap up quickly. There was a lot more good than bad. I sure will miss Guiding Light. I have lost a dear friend with the Light being turned off.
