i guess this was the twist with a turn they were saying and talking about in the soap mag that i read few's weeks ago and now they are starting a new storyline with this. they still hadn't end the ones they have like Richard and edmund
if he lives or dies and does he comes back to rava they are leaving a lot of things unfinished here, but Allen dying was unexpected and a shocker to me id wasnt expecting that .

Too bad it wasn't Edmund sitting there.
He would be the only character they should have killed off.
I had just started watching GL again this past year I will miss it.

This can easily be undone like so MUCH of this CRAP that was written the last several years. For example, EDMUND shoots JEFFERY and then JEFFERY shoots EDMUND dead. The next scene JEFFERY is in the hospital waking up out of a coma where we find out that JEFFERY is really KING RICHARD(no, he didn't die & CASSIE is still married to him but we only see the back of her head since the actress is in GH now). Cassie never married JOSH and REVA & JOSH are still married. They could UNDO any crap they want to this way or leave in all the good stuff like the marriages and the engagements. Just my hopes and wishes and just like a REAL fantasy they lived happily ever after..................................MY VERSION has MELINDA SUE & RUSTY SHAYNE engaged, BETH & PHILLIP, BLAKE & FRANK, and even MATT finding a new girlfriend. Okay, NOLA & QUINT could also come back. Oh, yeah, MARAH comes back with a new husband who turns out to be ALAN MICHAEL.........

So sorry about this; Alan was always my favorite. Message to Alan, if you are really gone, I hope you meet my Dad somewhere in the afterlife. He's the gentleman with the laughing brown eyes, big grin, a pipeful of Black Cavendish tobacco, and he'll be the one who is stopping to talk to everybody. Since I am a true Celt, I will have a bottle of Courvoisier and a couple of good cigars waiting on All Hallows Eve, if you feel like dropping by for a visit.

Seriously, I wish Ron Raines and the rest of the GL cast all the best. You will be missed. Whimper.

Here is a thought. If you don't want to know what happened on the show. DON'T come here until you watch it!! Stop being upset with someone for posting something when you could have just watched first then came and read the board later. Common sense!

I cannot tell you the amount of disgust I feel...and it might just be more of a mix of sadness and anger. I cannot accept the show is over, but if I must I liked the way it was ending at least. And then ALAN DIES?!?!??!! LIKE WTF SERIOUSLY??????????????? Alan has been such a monumental part of the show. I loved him Good or Bad. He was absolutely fantastic. I feel like his death is such a slap in the face to the fans & personally Ron Raines. I cannot get over the "well what a great way for him to die peaceful and a hero completed his purpose in life blah blah blah" swill! I am absolutely ANGRY! I think I just died a little inside right along with Alan

Quote princessvcb: I don't think Alan has died, I previously read Rick is going to die , I think he's going to die saving Alan's life. I really don't want to see Alan die , I luv his character the good and the bad that's waht makes this a soap opera.
I don't think Alan died either ...in the previews for tomorrow it showed an ambulance so he must be going to the hospital or the hearse would of come if he had died...I also hope Rick doesn't die

Losing Alan today was shocking, sad, upsetting and actually appropriate.
1 ) As soon as I saw Phillip talking to the back of Alan's head on the bench, I said to my friends "somethings wrong here...I think he died!" I couldn't believe it.
2 ) Its almost surreal that someone that we have grown to love is snatched from us like that.
3 ) The Spaulding patriarch is dead...there will never be another Alan...just what P&G want. How can you bring back a show like GL w/o Alan Spaulding...and we thought it'd be Rick.
4 ) From my standpoint (I'm a funeral director believe it or not), they nailed Alan's whole purpose in life on the head! He always tried to bring his family together, have as much control as possible and thats what kept him here on earth. He knew most of Springfield didn't like him and it ate away at him.
Now, he does the most heroic thing a person can do and saves his son's life. Once he realized that he could do good and not have to control it, his spirit could let go. He accepted Otalia and the family. He was proud of Rafe. He was happy to be there for his son. He was celebratory at the weddings of people he was not fond of (Lewis' and Coopers).
He found peace with himself--which is what he needed. He sat a quiet place to take in the beauty of the Earth and GL and peacefully passed. Alan didn't have to control like he did--he just had to be there for others. He learned the meaning of life.

No disrespect Mat....but that is exactly what I did NOT want to see. I don't want any of the characters to die....its too close to the end-how much sadness can we take? They save Phillip to kill Alan? It came as such as shock to be (except in that scene like you mentioned) I have been staying away from spoilers for the end so I can be surprised but I was more disappointed. How could they kill off such a legendary character such as Alan? Why won't they just let everything end peacefully like they built up? I will be super upset if things don't work themselves out....not that it matters apparently

I agree with you DMfan about reading spoilers, but if you read this thread from the beginning you will see that we were told about Alan without being warned it was a spoiler..made me so sad that they felt anyone had to die, it is hard enough to lose the show, don't need to also lose some of our favorite characters. Enjoy the last 3 shows

My thoughts exactly.

PS: Alan's still dead.

I have to say, they're treating the immediate aftermath of a family death with great restraint and dignity. Maybe I've been watching soaps too long, but this is the first time I've seen a death treated realistically, without someone becoming their alternate personality or something. This is good writing.
