Guiding Light - MESSAGE BOARDS

It has just occured to me what I'll really be missing when GL ends. Now, no one totally agrees that the soaps are true real life dramas. They have their fair share of crazy storylines.
But when I think of my two favorite soaps, I've realized that the GL was the one that I most truely identified with. Think about this- Practically every family on Y&R has money!! Newman's, Abbotts, Baldwins, Winters......
The GL really just has the Spauldings and the Lewis's that have the money. The Lewis clan rarely even flaunts it. Even the Bauers, who are Doctors don't really throw the money around. Rick is like the guy next door. Going to Towers for fancy meals is usually at breakfast time! I think GL for me was the more fun-loving, and relaxing of the two, and I think we all need that in our lives. I sometimes feel just sick over the thought of not watching the show. I mean, where else can you laugh, and feel sorry for 3 good looking bachelors like Rick, Frank and Matt that can never get the girl!! I will miss them all very much!

You expressed that so well Spacenut. GL is the very best of all the soaps!
I'm so sad and disappointed that it's going off the air. I believe they (who ever) have made a BIG mistake letting this happen.

The difference between Y&R & GL is that GL was all about family and finding were your heart is with your family and being as tight as you can be.Y&R is more about power and who has the power FYI Victor,Jack,Billy,Adam they all want to have power over each other.Inever could understand if there's is a true meaning of Y&R but GL has always ment the Circle of family and finding your light.

%( Good morning! Both you and Spacenut have summed up GL better than any person could have done. GL was all about family and how each person lived day by day in this world. They pointed out the importance of belonging and how each person actually are connected in one way or another and not just being related. I am going to miss everyone on this show, I have been watching it since the 60's. I grew up with everyone there in Springfield. Farewell to all and be blessed with life.
