Guiding Light - MESSAGE BOARDS

Life won't be the same without Guiding Light. I can't believe that after all these years it will go off the air. I am truely saddened and heartbroken.

THIS IS THE WORST WEEK OF MY LIFE AM LOOSING THE PEOPLE I LOVE HAVE WATCHED FOR 47 YEARS. MY HEART IS BROKEN WHY ARE YOU CBS TAKING MY FAMILY AWAY?????

This is still so unreal for me!!!

For 47yrs. I have enjoyed, and been a part of the lives of the families of Springfield.
The good, the bad, and the ugly, whatever; they have been a part of my life for close to 50yrs.
And I know that I am not alone. But obviously, the fans do not matter.

I read on another thread that WE TV is considering picking up Guiding Light.

"5 million viewers" you must be "dreamin". GL didn't have more than 1.5 to 1.6 million viewers for a long time, that's why it was cancelled. Y & R doesn't even have 5 million viewers and it's the number one soap on t.v. I will always believe that the "taped" shows by most of us who worked were never counted in Nielson ratings, thus shorting GL in the numbers. I believe that 5 million people will miss the show just not "counted" people.

I keep hoping that this is just a ratings stunt and we aren't losing the best soap on air......

I agree, for true ratings on any show they have to realize how many people tape now. I know the ad people don't like us to tape because we skip the commercials, but hey...we should count too!

I agree, I am one that was forced to tape GL, and looked forward to getting home to check it out everyday.

This was part of my daily routine, part of my "destressing, unwinding, me-time".

How sad it is, that GL is being put to rest. With all the history the show has, it deserves better. Let us hope that some of the other soaps will pick up some of our beloved characters and let the "Light" live on..
