Quote Guidinglight_fan: i've been posting on here for about 2 years and i was just wondering why no one responds to my post or topics??!!??

when gl goes off i'd like to have someone to remmeber it with and if no one talks to me on here whats the point of posting???

I truly am sorry you feel that way. Wow 2 yrs, Gosh, I didn't even know this site was here for the past 2 yrs! Of course I will & I'm sure everyone else here will continue to post after GL goes off - I STILL don't know how I'll get through the final week! Cried & sobbed Thursday, so that's an indicator of next week. I fully expect to be very emotional Friday so that's why I'm going to tape it while watching - I might just be crying too much to actually watch it. Then later sometime I can watch it as much as I want & cry as much as I want

Anyway, keep writing & we'll keep posting too, ok?

Quote Twiztid-Jay: Hello I am 30 and I started watching the show when I was 10 so I have watched this show for 20 long years going back does anyone rember when they walked thru a painting in reva's house and took them back to the future. It sux alot that this show won't be on anymore if one end how many are going to follow I only watch Cbs saops and I don't want to change I can always have something to talk about with my mom because she is the one that got me hook on the story's all those years ago and GL is the longest running show in history now it is going to be history.

Okay, I'm dating myself...but how many others on this board first listened to GL on the radio, and then watched the live 15 segments along with Love of Life and Search for Tomorrow?!

I'm kinda glad I wasn't watching during Reva's time travel escapades. I would've probably quit watching over that one. I quit watching AMC when Tad was scraped off those rocks under the bridge and then buried, but then he mysteriously came back to life.

I am so sad that GL is going off the air. I remember back in 1954 watching it at my grandmother's knee. I've never stopped watching. I even remember when the beloved Bert Bauer was not a nice lady. She was mean to her kids and hated that her husband Bill wasn't making enough money. I don't know exactly when she became a saint, but she did.
I remember the day that Phillip first met Rick.
I loved live tv with all it's little mistakes they couldn't take back.
On the last day, I wish they could somehow bring back all of the former living GL actors for a farewell toast.
I'm on chemo now, but if I weren't, I'd raise a glass of merlot and salute the immense pleasure GL gave to me and a zillion others.

LizzyLew, I am one of the oldie, but goodie that watched the GL when it was on the 15 min. time and followed, Search for Tomorrow. I remember listening to it on the radio when I was a very young girl. In fact, I have been a fan for 60 years. I will be 70 years old next month, and began to to really pay attention to the show when I was about 10 years old. I can recall listening to it with my mother before I entered school. I have seen so many characters come and go, but, the past 30 years, with so many new characters and storylines, the show came into its own. I will really miss seeing my daily friend, and WILL not watch the show Let's make a Deal. I do watch the Y& R, as I have followed that soap for as long as it has been on the air. Victor and I have aged very well, thank yoU ! I will continue to post on this board as long as it is left on line. I really enjoy posting, and have met so many new friends, and I do consider them my friends, as we all have one thing in common .WE love the GL!!!!! Mary

Quote AntiqueLady: I remember that storyline as well and I think it was in the Reardon boarding house. Didn't it have to do with the Annie Dutton character? Anyone remember her?

Yes!!! I remember both the painting storyline & Annie Dutton! She was something, wasn't she???

Annie came back several times to stalk Reva and Ross Marlor. She was a nut, for sure. They had some plots and storylines around that time that were way out there. Like the one where Reva was cloned.

Hey Merrymary & Lizzielew,
I am one of those old timers too. When I would be home from school sick Mom and I would watch GL, Search for Tomorrow,
Love of Life and does anyone remember Secret Storm?

Watching this next week will be tough. It is so much like losing a dear friend. My feelings are close to how I felt when one of my best friends died 2 years ago from Cancer. We knew it was only going to be a few days until she would pass away and I had one last visit with her. Before I left her side I told her that I loved her as a friend. Well GL you have been a dear friend for many years and I love you all and wish you the best. I will continue watching and taping until the lighthouse goes dark.

Let's all agree on a moment of silence as we say our good-byes on 9/18!!!!

Quote Annefrank: Hi everyone, my name is Karen, I'm 48 & live in FL. Been watching GL since 1978 or probably a couple of years before that - hard to remember that far back, so I've been watching it about 30 yrs off & on. I cried my eyes out right before Thursday's show ended. I even sobbed. Don't know how I'll make it through next week. I'm thinking about taping it Friday (while watching, of course) then watching it in the privacy of my home while hubby works (I'm unemployed right now)so if I need to cry I can & nobody will see me. Whew, you know, it's RARE for me to go on these sites, write to magazines, etc., but it felt good just getting that out of my system.

I want to keep in touch with everyone too! How will we all get through next week????

Hi, I've been watching since I was born really. The show has been passed down from my great grandmom. My mom had it on every single day since I was born. THis is like losing a best friend. I am SO heartbroken and feel like people like you are the only ones who can understand. I hope we can help each other through the end of GL.

As a wee child ( I am now 75), I listened to GL on the radio...then on to television...even tho I have not always liked the storylines (some were snoozers), I will miss the show...especially enjoyed seeing Bridget today...

I can't agree with you more about Guiding Light getting the short end of the stick, I am so saddened to see this show end. Perhaps they should of tried a different time slot. I have watched this series as long as I can remember. Do you remember such characters as Rita Bauer, Eve and Ben, Kelly and Morgan, Lucinda Wexler, everything Roger Thorpe ever did and one of the best things that ever happened to Springfield the day Reva came to town. I remember everything Josh went thru with various women. I am so saddened and I cannot believe that they producers couldn't of figured out something to do, even make the show 1/2 hour long like originally when it started on TV. I am definately not looking forward to Friday, it will be a very sad day.

There isnt anything wrong with not getting replies. We've had several topics about this before because everyone gets so upset about it. I hate to say it but GL's board is usually very calm and quiet. There are a lot of people that dont post but they do look at things. Dont feel bad. If you dont get a reply just know that your opinion on the topic is being looked at and thought about. Sometimes i dont log on but i do read everything i can. Once again dont feel bad. We all are friends here and if you dont get a lot of replies there isnt anything wrong with that!
