Guiding Light - MESSAGE BOARDS

I meant to post this last week. I just wanted to say the 2009 Daytime Emmys last sunday was astounding for many reasons. The Guiding Light tribute was way too short and the only part I liked about the tribute is that the Hold On To Love theme song was used. Guiding Light was disrespected that night. There was not enough clips from the classic GL days and the cast wasn't given the opportunity to reflect about their time on the show or to even thank the fans for all their loyalty and support. My mother and I both felt that Vanessa William's little dance number should have been cut short and it was not necessary for her to have had that many dance performances. The night should have belonged to GL! And I am nolonger a B&B fan, but I felt given it was the show's first daytime emmy award, I felt Brad Bell's speech should have not been cut off! Y&R was shut out of the emmys along with ATWT. Yeah I know CW had a limited time, but did we really need the whole fashion show or dances? I only watched for the GL tribute and after it was over with I was so disgusted that I switched to a different channel. I will not invest any time in next years emmys, this was the final year for me. I still can't believe that TG,CC and KZ were not nominated? I was thrilled for Jeff B! I think that deep down everyone in the daytime industry knows that with Guiding Light cancelled they will soon follow. CBS ratings will continue to decline. Deal Or No Deal is no big deal to me, but GL was!

I could not have said it better myself. & If it were up to me I would have canceled B&B> I could write the story line. I love G L.

I have to agree I was really hoping that they would have given Guiding Light a better tribute then the 5 or so minutes that they did give them. After all it has been the longest running show (soap or other TV show) ever on. It should be given the respect that the show deserves. It has been on the air since there was no TV just radio.
