I don't understand why one of these networks won't pick up Guiding Light, old or new. They must certainly understand that they will be gaining a lot more new veiwers. They say that GL was cancelled because of low ratings but what other show has endured 72 years? Has had so many veiwers protesting its cancellation and has broken so many hearts by being cancelled? No other show daytime or nightime can claim so many dedicated fans. IS THIS THE DEMISE OF THE DAYTIME DRAMA? Shame on the networks for taking away what has helped sustain us soap lovers for so many years. I will take a soap over their so called reality shows any day. What ever happened to trying to provide what the customer are asking for? We are asking that our soaps remain, why won't they listen? I will patronize the network that has the soaps, if CBS does away with the soaps, they lose me as a veiwer. I will only watch the soaps on that network, nothing else. That is my own personal boycott. |

GL only has had 1.5 million viewers per week for a long time now. That number against the huge investment of money it takes to put the show on 5 days a week, it just doesn't justify the money. They are not sentimental, they don't care about that few viewers, it's just a business transaction, like a loan at the bank, if the collateral isn't that good, you don't get it. Sad, but true. The folks that will mourn and miss the show will do so with a great deal of feeling, unfortunately there are not as many as there should be. |

Yeah but I mean why not make it a weekly show? I would go with that just to see Gl. I mean all the shows seem to be on weekly instead of dailey. |
