merrymerry your post brings tears to my eyes. I cannot bear the thought of not tuning in every day to see my TV family. I have only been watching now for about three years and I can tell you that I am totally crushed and feel empathy for each and every one of you. It's hard enough for me to handle this after only three years I can't imagine what it must be like for you long time watchers. I have shed a few tears every episode as we watch our family disappear. I know I'm rambling but I'm just dreading the end and unfortunatly it is coming all too soon.

Quote GLfan85:
Quote Terror: Well said. Bert Bauer was a wonderful Matriarchial character. She was the touchstone on the show that many characters turned to for her wisdom and advice. So was Maureen Bauer.I have missed her character since it was written out in a car crash years ago.I think many women could identify with her as she faced many trials and tribulations with her husband Ed,daughter Michelle and son Rick. She also took in a wayward niece Bridget who made for a very interesting storyline back in the late 80's-early 90's.It was sad to see Ross Marler exit the show.I wish that Jerry Van Dorn could have made it back for the finale.

Reva and Josh have always been my favorite couple.Reva's spunk and energy were always fun to watch. And it was fun that she was also alittle crazy and unpredictable.

Guiding Light we will miss you.

I thought Bert was Ed's mother. Morrien (sp?) was his wife and mother of Rick and Michelle????

Bert was Ed's mother. Maureen was Ed's wife; Michelle was Ed's daughter by Claire Ramsey (a doctor), and raised by Ed and Maureen as theirs....

I remember when Rick's name was "Frederick" and he was called Freddy. Somewhere down the road his name became "Rick". I also remember Ed's father Bill who was presumed dead for quite some time.... I remember Papa Bauer; Bert Bauer when she allowed the amputation of her leg to be written into the script. So many memories...

That is similar to what I told my mother today, Boycot Proctor and Gamble. I think there are enough GL fans to make that a big missing chuck of change in their pockets. This is the ONLY soap I have ever watched and when it's gone, well, I won't pick another one and I will not be watching CBS. I am Pi$$ed.

I too have watched GL with my mom ever since I can remember. They always had younger characters I could identify with. Morgan and Kelly were the first, then Rick, Mindy, Phillip, and Beth. They were my favorites. I was 12 or 13 then and got off the bus about 3:10 and it came on at 3. Every girl in my class watched GL. We all loved it.

I watched through the crazy stuff with Nola and the wonderful romances like Ed and Maureen and Billy and Vanessa. I loved Billy and Vanessa. Then the sadness of Maureen's death. Remember the boarding house and Company with Tony. Phillips real parents, Mike, HB and Vanessa's "Daddy", not to forget Mrs. Bauer. I loved those older characters.

I have watched and cried all week. I cried when Mallet left, cried when Jonathon left. I will probably cry every day until Sept 18. I can not believe the end is actually almost here....

Thank you to each and every actor to play a part on GL.

Goodbye Dear Friend. You will be missed.
