%( The anger and depression is starting to set in Why, are they doing this?? I have watched this show since I was a young teenager. Are they adding new story lines in the show just to leave us hanging there? Are they going to give us some closer or are they just going to take it off the air? My friends its only a few weeks away. I am sorry I am just so sad. The network thinks this show is not worthy? I am all for banning the network completely!! They think ratings are bad for Guiding Light I want to picket the whole network!! Sorry for being so upset. It is just a part of our daily life is being taken away from us and I am MAD!

I am so upset the show is ending. This is my favorite soap, and they are going to replace it with a stupid game show. I am not going to watch the shows on this channel anymore. .

I feel the same way. I can't believe that the world has changed so much that people are getting away from the soaps enough to drop them.

This show has been a part of my daily life since a young girl...I will miss it terrribly,as my favorite soap of all time..Like you and others,I'm so sad for the end of an era...

CBS was hellbent on cancelling this show to put in GL's time slot a show like Let's Make A Deal...Another hideous remake of thirty years ago...What are they thinking? Never will I watch such a show...

I feel for the actors, all people who work on GL from cameramen, directors, producers, makeup dept.,writers, stagehands, wardrobe dept., all without jobs...It's a freakin shame...Words cannot describe how upset this fan is...

Lillybean the thought is really nice, but I don't believe you will ever see any DVD's of GL episodes. There are too many years and too many episodes for anyone to try to reproduce and the market wouldn't be any better than the ratings were for the show. Many, many soaps have been cancelled in the past years and none of them are available for dvd purchase. Occasionally a network has released something like weddings of AMC, or Soap Hunks of different shows but not eposodic material. I wish it were something that they would consider but I don't believe they ever will. CBS wanted to get rid of GL, why would they invest anything in promoting something they dumped? A possiblity would be that Soapnet would buy the series and begin from the beginning to the end, but that would be a very expensive project.

I have started to feel the ending of Guiding light. I have the feeling that a old friend is dying. I have watched the soap for over 20 years. I can't believe it will be over. It will be a sad day. The coopers, Spaulings, Lewis and Bauers have become family.

Has anyone heard of any of the cast members moving to other soaps on cbs, hopefully we will see them in other shows maybe. When olivia went to look for natalia she was going to oakdale which is where ATWT is so then I was thing maybe the would combine the two somehow. since the headwriter for GL went to ATWT.

You can tell on the show that they feel the end coming. I know they stopped taping on 8/11 and you can see the anguish in the storylines and actors. I don't blame them. I'm in anguish and agony daily. I'm a 33 year old MALE who's watched the show since i was 4.
I wish they'd bring the show to DVD. But alas, P&G isn't that bright.
I know CC is going to DOOL. I think she may be starting to tape now. There was rumor that Josh and Reva may go to ATWT, but with that show ending next year, who knows. There was talk of Billy and Dinah (the actors, not characters) going to OLTL but that fell through. I remember Doris saying she may run for mayor of Oakdale when driving Olivia to search for Natalia. Dont know if that'll take place or not. I really dont know if any CHARACTERS may be switching shows, just maybe some ACTORS.
I do know, however that Venice, the Series, the websoap created by CC stars a Lesbian main character (who we're hoping will actually be CC) and Jessica Leccia (Natalia) is going to be in the show as a character named Ana I believe, a photographer, so maybe we'll get Otalia there.

>( I made up my mind last week that I am going to save the next several weeks of tapings...at least I can still visit my characters whenever I want too after GL ends. I get really sad when I watch the shows and fully understand how the actors feel. As I have said before when GL is finished on CBS....I am finished with CBS daytime!!!!!Period!!!!!
I have been a viewer of this fine show off and on for nearly
50 years....that is a lot of history and loyalty. I really had hoped that the soapnet would pick up GL so I could continue the tradition. Thank goodness I taped and kept the Bauer BBQ this year. That is a 4th of July tradition!!
I just wished I had a Christmas episode taped. I always loved it when Ross or HB would read to the little kids towards the end of the show. They have given us many wonderful memories!!!!

Mamerk, there is a GL 2001 Christmas video on youtube. It is not a full episode, but it is a good video. I think that there is a 2002 one also. Hope this helps some. Like you, I wish that I had taped more episodes, but I just took it for granted that we would always have our GL. It is so sad to think that we will no longer get to share the holidays with our long time GL family. Christmas, the Bauer B.B.Q., and Thanksgiving were always some of the best episodes. Of all the soaps, I think that GL did the best with the holidays.
