Sorry to say, it should have died several years ago..Hopefully, we can watch it on the Soap Net. I would love to see the early years with Mike and Ed Bauer, Mama Bert. I really loved the years with Roger Thorpe, when Spauldings and the Lewis Brothers ran and clashed over business dealings...If Soap net can run Ryan's Hope, Guiding Light in its hay day, was WAY BETTER than that story...

It is really time for GL to go off the air. The story lines has been dead for several years. Dr Oz in (Maryland) will air during that GL time slot 10:00 a.m. Not interested in watching him. It appears that the soaps are going by the way side. Terrible writers all around and repeat storylines from one story to another. You can watch one story line on a soap and I bet you $1.00 it will be on your favorite one. So farewell GL it was good when you were in your best days. Time to say farewell and thanks for the storylines.

I think the sl is dead to some people because they could not grow and expand with the times! I would never say that it is time for gl to end...good grief, it is part of my day, like coffee is when I get up in the morning.

That is your opinion and this is mine....I want GL to stay on forever and never end.

Maybe it's just me but I am having a real struggle understanding some of the posts written on this topic. One poster says something about GL should have been cancelled years ago but yet wants to watch it on Soapnet? Pink Kitty makes a statement that the actors will be unemployed forever. Excuse me? Most will go on to other acting jobs. What's up with this? Kick it while it's already down, can't you do better than this?

How can anyone say that it deserves to be taken off the air?? That is just wrong on so many levels. I feel that one of the reasons that all soaps are on thin ice is the fact that so many of us watched it with out families, or our moms and grandmothes watched it and we just followed in their footsteps, but so many people nowadays did not do that, their mothers were out trying to make a living and soaps were just not a big part of their lives like it was for people my age and even some older and some younger.. but the tide has changes so to speak and soaps are not a big part of day tme tv anymore...........that breaks my heart because it results in them being taken off the air. Our friends that we have had for years and years. Daytime viewers have changed and the networks have to make the changes with them or be left out in the cold. It feels to me after 55 years that a dear friend has died!!

Well, we've got 8 shows left. It's only on Tues-Thursday this week, pre-empted Monday and Friday. And then 5 days left the final week. I cannot believe that it is really over BUT IT IS. Now all we will have left is Youtube and our taped episodes and our memories. Shame, Shame, Shame!

Pink Kitty, why do you keep posting things like that? No where has it been announced that ATWT has been cancelled and will stop on Sept, 2011, and no where has it been announced that Days is cancelled. When you post things like that with no proof all you do is upset the posters. If any of this were true, the soap magazines not to mention this soap board would be on it in a shot. ATWT is on their last year of their extension and probably in trouble, but to sit there and say they are gone already is just wrong, wrong, wrong and very irresponsible. Where is your proof????

Pelphrey I agree with you, the show DOES NOT IN ANY WAY deserve to be taken off the air. It may have had its dark times but what soap hasn't. Whoever said the storylines have been dead for several years you are WRONG. Tammy's death was a great storyline. Lizzie and Bill have had amazing storylines written for them. And I also find Phillips illness('s) amazing. If your saying that they should go off the air for having a bad storyline then maybe every soap should go. EVERY SOAP HAS A BAD STORYLINE! Are you saying that every soap should go when the dull storylines come? NO! And Pink Kitty I have not heard ANYTHING about any of the soaps you mentioned being taken off the air! I did here some words about Days and ATWT but none have been confirmed! And OLTL is definatly NOT on the chopping board next! I wish you guys would stop posting things aboout OTHER soaps on GL's board. I dont care if ATWT is going off the air. YOU DONT NEED TO POST IT HERE! Post it on ATWT's message board.. You have no supporting information so you shouldnt post it. Let the admins do their job and post it when and if that time comes!
