Making the news of Guiding Light 's cancellation even more real, CBS has made it official that the soap's time slot will now be filled with a game show. A new version of the series, "Let's Make A Deal" is now expected to take over. Comedian and former talk show host Wayne Brady has already shot a pilot for the new project which is set to begin airing after Guiding Light goes dark on September 18.

Pasadena Calif.(Ap)-The game show "Let's Make A Deal" is coming back to daytime television.

CBS says that an updated version of the show will debut Oct 5,with Wayne Brady as host. The network says that the premise of audience members trying to win cash and prizes by making "wacky deals" will be intact.

Monty Hall, longtime host of the original "Let's Make A Deal," is a consultant on the new show.It will replace "Guiding Light," the soap opera that's ending it's more than five-decade run September 21.

CBS programming chief Nina Tassler told the Television Critics Association that the change represents a "very tough transition" for the network, and that three game show pilots were scrutinized before "Let's Make A Deal" won out.

I am assuming that the last day is the 21st since this is an article that I have seen in my local newspaper.

Maybe they changed the date.I will wait and see if the Admin of the board gives a new update.

As of now they still have it posted as the 18th.But 21st would be ok with me.The longer the better

I have been reading on the net that Lifetime might pick up GL! I hope Lifetime does pick up GL and CBS would lose rates and it would hurt them where it hurts n their pockets. I pray that they do. GL is the best soap they are. They can't take it away from me. I don't no what I would do. I don't think I could go without Josh or Jonathan. So everyboby cross your fingers.

They said the other day that none of the other networks want the show. So unfortunately it will end.

The only show that is doing relatively well is Y&R,now, that means all the other shows way below that score will be on the way out??
Is this the end of daytime TV as we know it?? The end of soaps period??
Please say it aint so.
I take a soap over any reality show anytime!!!
GO SOAPS!!!!

Good Grief....I am from Europe and we dont have Soaps as we know it here the the great USA..I spent 2 weeks in Sweden and I could not wait to get back to the good old USA to watch my Soaps (recorded).Perhaps the young people do not appreciate Soaps the way people over 40 do??
A different demographic a different mentality.
Gee I really feel old...still have a landline (phone), what is up with that??? Please dont tell me I am over the hill???

i dont think lets make a deal will go over it will be cancel with in a month times and they will have a hard time to find a replacement for that time slot cause it will be cancel and no one will be watching it and i know i wont be watching it. as soon as 2,00 comes around my TV is going off at my protest and we can due the TV shows in by getting them cancel whatever they put in that time slot and have it get bad rating besides i don't think lets make a deal will get much of a rating so it will be off the air before you know it and i don't think the people at guiding light were trying very hard to find a new home for guiding light they could had its was there excuse they really didn't try hard or bother to try.since they were bringing the show down in the firist place

I just heard this today that a game show was airing in my time zone 3:00pm in place of Guiding Light...This has been my favorite soap since a young girl..I'm so sad to see the show's demise...

Here's one fan who won't be watching Let's Make A Deal..Just another revamped game show...I'll give it one season, but our soap is gone forever...
