guiding light binging canceled has nothing to do with ratings. procter and gamble intentionally brought guiding light down. procter and gamble wants out of TV business, so they made guiding light so bad to watch that there intent was to get you fans to turn guiding light off and what i remember reading was procter and gamble saying," the fans wont want to watch". fans" turn it off".
procter and gamble wants to fpcus back on food goods.
i wanted to make this thread because i feel that all of you guiding light fans deserve to know the whole truth why and who is behind it and that it's not the ratings, the ratings were good and again" procter and gamble brought guiding light down and ruin the soap after 72 years to get you fans fed up with failing shows to tyrn it off just so they can get the show off the air.
i think all of you fans should be out raged and CBS guiding light writers, producers should go after procter and gamble in court and sue them and bring them down and take them for every penny they have and get guiding light back on the air. there must be some way to do it now that it's out in the open who is responsible for ruining the longest running soap for 72 years. what about soapnet'.

we still live in a capitalist country, and a business has the right to just decide what they want to do with their products. As far as P & G causing the ratings to go down, it was the writing, that's it! GL has many loyal fans, but we were not enough to keep it going now. Ratings, are what keeps a show on the network. Better shows have bitten the dust. CBS, is a big business, and has the right to make a decision to keep what works for them. I'm glad we still live in a free country, especially on this Independence Day,'09. Keep the Govt out of our personal lives!!!!!

Yeah I agree with both of you about P&G. I have always suspected that P&G wanted out of the soap business and they purposely let GL go under by hiring incompetent writers who have no understanding of GL's rich history. Now sadly ATWT will meet the same fate next year, because those GL writers are joining the writing team. The show had been declining for the last 15 years, why did it take tptb this long to realize the show was in trouble?

Banks, Car Companies and more deliberately paid top execs big $$$ to watch companies and philosophies built over decades fall apart. How much is EW getting paid to get GL cancelled? Is she moving to ATWT next? I remember when GL always won the writing emmy. Now this. I blame both EW and P&G. There will be no more P&G in my house.

Good question! I have started wondering the same thing about EW. I know that you have to take some things that you read with a grain of salt, but I am becoming more and more convinced the EW has and is playing a big part in the cancellation of GL. Before she came on board, the sl and writing was good. If this is true, shame on her. I read somewhere that she will get an award something about the final of GL. Personally, I do not think that she deserves any award unless it is pink slip for taking a Great Soap and destroying it. Sorry, if I offend anyone. It is just so sad that a show/soap that is 72 yrs. old, with so much history and great memories, and lots more sl to be told is being canceled. A show/soap like GL is rare and everyone should do whatever needs to be done to keep it on the air for many more years.

I just read on another cbs.com, that b&b is going to an hr and a game show might fill in...anyone hear any more of this?
Is Bell involved in GL's cancellation as well?
