With the passing of Michael Jackson this week, it brought me back to the 80’s. Yes, I had big hair! 1984 Michael Jackson won many awards for his Thriller album (yes, album, not CD). Phillip, Beth, Rick and Mindy graduated from high school in 1984. Oh, Phillip was the love of my summer, as no guys in my school looked that hot!!! July 1984 Vanessa Williams gave up her crown as Miss America due to nude photos of her. The Terminator came out in 1984, back when Arnold Schwarzenegger was an actor and not in politics. Ronald Reagan was not an actor, but the president in 1984. I saw Van Halen in concert, with David Lee Roth as the front man in the summer in 84. The Los Angeles Raiders won the XVIII Super Bowl in 1984. I am sure I could go on and on. With the death of MJ and the ending of GL, I have been thrown back on memory lane. I am sure there are others out there that can put real life events with GL events too, so please feel free to do so. |

I was a young wife. That was back in the day when being a housewife was a career. I would make sure I had all of my household duties done before GL came on. I spent many afternoons with the 4 Muskateers. NOW I have a grown daughter and an outside job...but I still watch GL. I will hate to see it go. I was also sad to hear of the passing of MJ & FF. |

I am with you. Those were the days. I grew up watching GL with my Granny and my aunt. And no matter if we were done with what we were doing or not, come time for GL and everything came to a halt until GL was over and we had sat and talked about the episode and what we thought would happen the next day. About when being a housewife was a career. I remember those days. My husband and I were talking the other day about why the ratings were and had been going down over the years. I told him that maybe it was because back then women were housewives and nowdays there are more career women, so maybe there are not as many people watching GL as there use to be. I am in no way saying that there is anything wrong with a women having a career. I have a small business and I have no problem with a women having a career.
