On the one hand it is a way to give an end to this 70 year old show but on the other, I would like Philip to take his place as the GOOD patriarch of the family. Displacing Alan.

I don't believe that he will die, I think Jeffery will.

I was upset when I first heard that Phillip had limited time. When PelphreyPosse noted on a differ thread, that rumor was that Phillip would live---I was happy. Come to thinking about it, soaps often have one person ill and then some one else is the one that dies. When Reva was so ill and it looked like she was going to die, she lived---Tammy died. Rick was in bad shape, needed a heart----Richard died. Olivia was ill, not much time left---Gus died. So, maybe being dx with a terminal condition is good in SF..

Well being a soap fan for so many years, I guess I can buy almot any story. I should know by now that having an extremely rare, terminal disease in no way means you will really die!
I draw the line though if Gus comes back with no heart!!

LOL Gus lives in O's body. So, why not have him come back that way? I just hope the writers finish all the stories, There are lots of stories we want to have a happy ending. I just want Nat and O, Josh and Reva to come to terms. Buzz, and Lillian, get married, already! Beth and Phillip in a happy ending. Lizzie and Bill a fairytale wedding. Oh, how could I forget Frank, please, let him have a solid love affair. He is too nice to not have a happy ending.

And how about Annie coming back and the last we see of Alan is him going through the bedroom door with her. She looks over her shoulder and gives us a wink!! Good Bye Alan!

They have left the door open as Christina was discussing his disease with Mel the other day as wanting to research it.

Jeffrey, Dina and Mallet die, leaving the door open for Josh/Reva, Shane/Marina romances.

I am so happy to hear that Philip will not die. It GL has to end I want Philip and Beth to be back together and Rick and Mindy together. Josh and Reva would be nice also. Instead of Shayne and Marina, I would rather have Shayne and Dinah.

Well if the show is REALLY ending, I could see Phillip lying somewhere gazing at the light in the light tower and all of a sudden it goes out, he dies and our Guiding Light dies with him. Not all good stories have a happy ending.
