Guiding Light Update?

I was wondering if any of you have heared anything regarding Guiding Light going to a different network. With CC and GT leaving, I wonder if this is the end for the 72 year old soap? |

so far they haven't found a replacement show to take guiding light spot and there haven't been any ad on tv on what going in its place, and just because you haven't heard anything doesn't mean there not they probable waiting for the soaps awards to make there announcement when its towards the end and i just heard that days of ours lives also got the ax to there going off in November soap number 2 and there a proctor and gamble soap to,so that make number 2 its wasn't because the rating was bad its was because they didn't renew there contract with CBS and there contract with them was up that why they got cancels. |

I forgot that almost all the news that we get for soaps that is MAJOR BIG is usually announced live at the Daytime Emmy's! Lets pray for something big and good about our soap! |

Pink, don't kid yourself. The reason Days got the axe is because NBC wanted out of the daytime drama world. First Passions, now Days. And trust me ratings played a huge part in the decision. It costs major bucks to put the show on, and the numbers of fans keep dropping. It's happening to most all of the soaps and one by one we are losing them. ATWT is the next on the chopping block. Watch and see. |

Reading them I got the impression that you know some people in the business that really know what is going on. If what you say is correct. That ATWT is next. I am 69 and have been watching ATWT and GL since I was a young teenager. When I worked, before you could tape, I tried to go home for lunch to watch at least one of them. I have been a loyal viewer of ATWT and GL. GL is going off the air in September and now maybe ATWT. The only other soap I watch is B&B. I will NOT watch any more soaps. Why start watching, get interested, be a loyal fan just to have your soap taken off the air. Lets face it. The networks don't care about the viewers. I have follow GL through some awful story lines. I don't mean read the updates like a lot of people. I tape and I have watched every single show. I never thought I would say this but I'M DONE. |

BC I understand how you are feeling, like most of us do on this board. But soaps are still good to watch. There may still be hope out there for our show, let's just wait and see. Do you live in Tennessee? Where? |

THEY GOT A PETITION GOING TO ON LINE TO SAVE DAYS OF OURS LIVES THEY SAIDS IT WOULDN'T GO PAST 2009, AND THE FANS ARE TRYING TO SAVE THERE SOAP. |

I too have watched soaps for more than 50 years. I will continue to watch GL & ATWT until the last day of both. I started watching B&B after Capitol ended. The only other soap that interest me is Young and the Restless. Y&R seems to be the top rated soap so maybe they won't be canceled so soon. There is no other soap that even interests me. Y&R comes on at 11:00 am in my town. Yes, I live in Tennessee. I live in Memphis. I was born in Memphis and have lived here all my life. |
