My grandmother listened to Guiding Light on the radio and I grew up watching it in the 60's with my Mom. If the show is cancelled it will be like losing a relative. I think they lost their way when the Bauer family's role was diminished. I like having Phillip back on the show and was hoping he could save it. My big problem with the current show is the look, not a big fan. The sponsers should get a clue from Y & R and OLTL. Nice look, nice sets, and of course nice plots. Still, I keep watching my old friends in Springfield. Do something before death comes a calling.

I will continue to watch Y&R. However, I've recently switched from ATWT to OLTL. ATWT has the same cheezy look that Guiding Light has suffered with these recent years. Maybe the sponser should spend some money. We certainly buy their products.

>( No, I will not watch another soap. Started with GL when it was on the radio and I have not liked nor enjoyed what has been happening to the story lines for several years. The show needed better writers not actors since they already had the best in day time TV. My VCR is programmed to GL daily so I don' have to watch some of the stupid, dumb story lines the writers try to push down our throats like Nat/Olv - GAG TIME! GL is the only soap I have ever watched including all those night time ones, Knots Landing, Dallas, etc. SO NO, I'll not watch another soap and don't watch much CBS period, just a couple night time shows. My TV is off during the day. IF anothe network is smart enough to pick up GL then BINGO by VCR will be reprogrammed.

I absolutely will not continue watching the CBS Daytime Lineup after Sept 18. I have watched this show for 57 almost 58 years. I am quit upset that they have taken it off. I also am upset that they will be killing Phillip off. I believe at least it should go off with all problems solved. Killing Phillip off as a testamonial to the fact that my favorite show is also dead will not satisfy the general Guiding Light fans. Please before it is too late reconsider a cure.

We don't know that Phillip will be "killed". Be positive. It is boosting the ratings with Phillip back and if he dies, it may be how they decide to say good-bye to the good actors they have been bring back. All good things come to an end. Let's hope we have another channel or even a surprise @ the Baure BBQ, telling us all that they aren't going anywhere. There is always hope.

Keeping it mellow.

Probably not! If the powers that be at CBS don't respect the faithful viewers then why should we continue to be loyal to them. It's not like they care about us or that they will even see this blog/MSG board. They simply don't care about the viewers. It is all about money to them. They don't care about the cast and crew of GL either. The daytime viewing will simply be filled with repeat5 silly sitcoms or reality TV. Then I will surely just turn off my TV. If it wasn't for a few night time shows I would avoid CBS all together.
They complain about the ratings. Well how many times have the CBS big wigs interrupted daytime to show a sports game, or a news show or something else. How could they possibly get a good ratings. BY THE WAY. The listing on the HOME page has not changed. I bet they have not even rechecked the rating they just post the same ones and let us be to think that this is the real opinion of the viewers.
CBS Executives are liars and I am angry that Guiding light is ending. Why do I bother , They don't care!!!!!

Quote phyllist: I'll still watch Young and Restless. I may try to get into another soap on another network.

At one time I watched As the World Turns, but dropped it some time ago.

Does anyone have suggestions for another interesting soap.

As far as I'm concerned, though, Guiding Light is irreplaceable.

Dont watch Y&R on CBS! Watch it on SoapNet!

No I do not plan to watch there daytime TV after GL goes off the air. What are they thinking. GL is the only one worth watching, and I know they are idiots now.

I feel the same way. It's the only daytime show fit to watch. What in the world is CBS thinking. Oh let's just do ourselves in? I hate what they are doing and they are idiots.

No when they take GL off they are dead as far as i'm concerned. They are taking the only daytime show that is worth anything off the air have they lost their minds. I think we know the answer to that. They are idiots. Period.

CBS powers that be are idiots. Taking the only soap that is worth watching off the air. At least i'll have a lot more free time. I did watch the other ones halfway, but if they truly take GL off the air i won't turn on CBS. Period.

Did you just post 4 or 5 times in a row, why didn't you just keep going on one? But I think we get your drift.

No there is no point in watching soaps on CBS. GL is my all time favorite. I record it everyday to my DVR and then watch it when I get home that night. I don't like the ABC soaps nor the other CBS soaps. Totally hate that is going off air.
