Guiding Light - MESSAGE BOARDS

Just heard a couple of hours ago from a source in NYC that about 5 o'clock Wednesday Crystal Chapell signed with Days Of Our Lives. She will stay on GL until the end (Sept) on t.v but August for tapings. Guess that puts the kabosh on the Otalia storyline. I for one never subscribed to the theory that the O storyline helped GL. The ratings have stayed around 1.5 for many months. Before this storyline and since this storyline. I can't remember whether or not C's family had moved to NYC from L.A. or not. Maybe she was just ready to go back to Cal. but at any rate she must believe that GL isn't going to move to another network. Course her contract was getting close to ending too I think, so maybe Days just offered her more money to come back than she would get from GL. Who knows? Oh, also heard that they plan to have Philip be terminally ill with about three months to live. If this is true, it really is a bad idea, but with Ed B. coming back this could tie in.

I for one am extremely happy for Crystal on her signing with Days, I am a Days fan but I have become an avid Guiding Light fan because of the Otalia story line. I think it has been amazingly truthful story. I love the fact that its pretty much lableless. I also think that Crystal and Jessica have done an amazing job with it. So I think I have to disagree with your thought that the storyline didnt help Guiding Light.....(oh by the way I straight last time I checked....ooops guess that is a label too!)

WHAT??? I hope they do not kill off Phillip again. Even if the show goes off the air (which I hope it does not), I want to have in my mind that SF went. I have always been a big Phillip/GA fan since he first came on screen!!! However, GA is such a wonderful actor and I watch eveytime he is on screen. I am also tired of all the dying and sick s/l. Who knows, Reva recoverred twice from cancer, so that does not mean doom for Phillip, but.... That being said, I hate to see CC leave. I am not a big O&N fan, but CC is also a wonderful actor and has always brought her A game to any s/l thrown to her. However, being closer to her family is a big plus, so I can only wish her the best!

I may be wrong (happens occasionally ), but I thought I read her family had moved East not long ago. I think Crystal is a fine actress and would hate to lose her if the light keeps shining but job security is pretty important!

I hope they don't kill Philip. If we lose the light I want to think of them all riding off into the sunset happy!

Oh my gosh, I could not stand to watch Olivia and Natalia today 06/12 talking about sex and rubbing each others face and hair for the past two days. Im sorry I know some of you like this storyline but I can not help it.

Crystal will reprise her character Carly Manning, this September. She starts taping in Jun .

EAB I just meant that the ratings didn't go up much with Otalia, that's all.

We think alike, Marley, I have always loved CC' performances in any role that she has been in and I just adore Jessica. And I'm trying hard not to let CC's decision make me give up on GL's chances of being picked up by another network. CC is used to bi-coastal living, Jess will want to stay in NYC because her husband's restaurant is there. I think the O storyline was interesting but other than a lot of talk, it never made GL's ratings improve much. I did go back to Daytimeconfidential and found the original article, it was a Linda Hearst, a writer who says that several of the GL actors have signed new contracts. My statement WAS and still is, I don't believe if these actors have signed with other shows and networks for roles NOT GL, that they wouldn't have leaked out just like CC's did, minutes after she signed. Too many people involved, networks, management, etc. But if ONE network like Lifetime was re-doing contracts for the GL future, they could control better what comes out and what doesn't. Course this is just my opinion, and like some have said earlier, I could be wrong, also.

It's just hard to stay optimistic when the news of late has been GT signing with OLTL (though talks have fallen through) and now CC is going back to DOOL. I wish P&G and or Telenext would just say flat out either GL has no new home or it has.

Me too, Gay but it won't. But if we see many more leading roles actors signing with other shows, we will know without them having to tell us. Can you imagine GL without Robert Newman, Kim Zimmer, Daniel Cosgrove, Marcy Rylan, Ron Raines, Beth Chamberlin, Grant Alexander, Robert Bogue, Mandy Bruno, Frank Dicoupolis, Justin Deas, Jordan Clark, Jeff Branson, Gina Tognoni, etc.??????"???????? If some of these leave for other shows, GL IS DEAD. You can always re-cast a pivotal role on any show, but a dozen or more of the main roles, who would watch it then, not many I'm afraid.

Even though I dont like some storylines I will never stop watching I will watch untill it's over, I hope though it will go on Guiding Light Rocks!!
