Guiding Light - MESSAGE BOARDS

I haven't been posting for a long time and I know everything I seem to post is mean, negative and not welcomed. That is not who I am. I enjoyed GL in the past, but I am so upset that they are no longer going to be part of Daytime for all of us. So perhaps that is my way of saying I am upset.

The actors, don't even get me going, the story lines, don't go there either. I guess they lost me when the "Bower" July 4th bash was held in Josh's backyard and Rick was told that Beth was leaving him at the same time, yet he still showed up and had to listen to Allan and watch Beth with him.

The Bowers were GL and the writers should have know this. It's like going home, when home is too far to travel and GL is the only home you have year after year.

It was a disappointment for me along with many others that only had the Bowers as a reminder of how family once was.

I'm am angry that they let me/some of us, down. (Yes I still meant what I wrote in other blogs) but I hope everyone can understand my anger.

lucy i understand exactly how you feel. the bauers were very important to A lot of watchers who watched for umteen years like myself. we all have our favorite actors,actresses. and to wake up one day and it's all over.
i ynderstand. we canonly hope gl will find a home so we can continue too watch.

A lot of the younger "fans" don't realize that the Bauers are the beginning of the GL. We, the fans have followed this story for many many years. The Otalia storyline has brought many new posters to the message board and caused a lot of friction to the posters. I left, but, with the love of everyone one, I came back to be with all of the loyal and dedicated fans. I got over the negative posters, just ignore them, it works for me!

We old folks understand your disappointment and frustration Lucy. We have wanted this soap to get back to family for a long time. The Bauers were our focus for years. They brought wonderful new characters in like Roger and Annie and so many others. BUT they always kept the heart of the show around...the Bauers. Now we have only Rick who shows up once every 6 months with an inane dialogue. We are disappointed but I will never say I will stop watching because of a sl or be critical of everything the production dept. has done. If I had the answers to what makes a soap perfect I would not be sitting here hoping to sell someone insurance. I'd be in NY.
Point is, it just does no good to carp about what went wrong. Lots of things are still good about it and I will watch until the light goes out.

just yesterday i watched some of the christmas's when bert was on the show. i got teary eyed just watching. there will never be another bert.

I have the same feelings about the show you all do...I also have seen this with Days losing the Hortons...still some Hortons around, but not like Alice and Tom. At least they still have the Christmas party with the named ornaments, and someone goes to the hospital and reads the Christmas story to the children.

I really think what you are missing is the wholesomeness those families brought into our homes...sure they had problems like all the rest of us, but everyone knew that mom and dad would be there for them...

Now we have mom sleeping with daughter's boyfriends, Dad boffing his secretary, boys with boys, girls with girls...it's a different world, but morals are still the same no matter how you try to paint it.

I think that's what we miss.
