Bigtimesoapfan, I think you have a good point. I believe they are in love...but maybe not agape love. It may be a strong platonic love. Since they aren't sure because neither has had such a strong connection with a close friend, they are exploring what it may be. Nat is really hesitant to take a commitment move such as a kiss so I think this relationship could go either way. I like the fact that the writers are dragging their feet so they can get an idea from the fans as to which way to take the sl. Of course, it could be Jessica's pregnancy. Either way, whether it is passionate love or deep friendship love, I think most women have asked themsleves teh same thing at some point. It's great that the writers have explored this option; it makes women who have felt like this feel less like they're alone; it's natural to have those feelings.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a homosexual relationship done right on TV. Why does it have to be deemed inappropriate if it relatese to "real" life?

Of course, most of the plots/sls in soap operas don't happen in real life, which is why we like them so much, isn't it? What an exciting life these characters live! I wish my life could have that type of excitement! Isn't that what we like about them? why they came to be? Housewives needed to see an outside world as they stayed at home and cooked and cleaned. If that's not the case anymore, why are soaps still on? opps. There I go pondering life again. sorry.

When they began this storyline I was totally against it. How could two women of their age suddenly turn into lesbians? As the story has progressed, I have changed my thoughts! These are two women exploring their feelings for one another and questioning their own sexuality in a very thoughtful, sensitive way. Neither one can really understand what she is feeling. I'm glad the writers are taking a slow approach with this story.

lmao! when I read "Why did they have to mess up the show with Olivia and Natalia's new found relationship?" I instantly thought, how can a beautifully written love story mess up any show..the Otalia storyline does not come from a perverse place at all and it has no faults..it is truly amazing and slow-building storytelling and the writers have been working on this story for a couple of years now..it's not something that just popped out of nowhere. between the two characters the love they feel was unexpected..but the writers have been developing this story for a while. It is a well written love story..and it doesn't matter the make-up.

in my opinion, otalia is just a still very deep friendship since they have not consummated it. if this was a straight relationship, the couple definitely would not have waited this long.

in fact, it's just been too long. i was never a fan since i don't believe either one of those characters is really gay.

i've lost interest.

I also find it amazing that people have no issues with watching a soap where cousins sleep with 1st cousins, wife's cheat on their husbands, and husbands cheat on their wives. A show where fathers shoot their sons and fathers kill their daughter's boyfriend. We have no issue with baby kidnappers, mafia families, corrupt police officers, and dirty business men... but GOD FORBID there be a lesbian couple. Now we have to turn off the t.v. LOL

Over 10% of the population is gay. At least 7 states in some form or fashion honor gay marriages/unions. It is time that people stopped thinking that this is the "old American" where no one matter but the majority. In "New America" all voices and opinions matter no matter how small, are heard.

I for one love this story line. As pointed out.. Oprah has did countless stories about men/woman being married for 10+ years and then deciding they were gay. I love the way they didn't move this story line fast. That would have only promoted the sterotypes about homosexuals. They let it flourish and become real to the viewers.

So to all who hate this s/l. I guess you now know what it fells to be in the miniority ( if you didn't already) because the stats show that viewers are digging this s/l a lot.

Go Nat & Olivia!

I have no objection to a homosexual relationship between Nat and O., but must bring up a troubling point (for myself, only!)....I miss the tantalizing quality of Olivia's fascinaing eyes when she was going in for the "kill" on some guy...haven't seen a bit of this with Nat...what have I missed? jdvermeer

All I see is two women bonding over their grief!! Natalia loved her husband(jake AMC) Olivia loved him too, and now she has his heart! Olivia has never had a really good friend and I think Nat has been so busy raising a child as a single parent to make real friends! They May "love" each other but it's not romantic even though the writers are trying to take it that route!! It's the dumbest s/l I've ever seen (next to DOOL and the Island)!! I think they are confused and once they actually "hit the sheets" they'll both wake up and smell the roses!! Hopefully with Rafe home he'll help his mom to wake up from dreamland!!
