Well Dim, I can't argue with you about how fabulously fantastic old s/ls were - how truly soapy it all was. I see both sides of this - and maybe it is too late (for EW)to redeem herself, I dunno. I think she had a lot of high hopes, were they really what the fans wanted - obviously not. But I will also say that in all the behind-the-scenes footage that I have seen in the last year in pretty much each and every one of them you will see EW running around and working....I don't know how many other EPs on the other soaps are actually as hands-on as she is. |

She means well! I think you solved it for me! She means well.... Though I wouldn't want a guy pulling a tooth out of my mouth just because HE thought HE could be a good dentist! Once he realize that his denistry isnt matching his "HIGH HOPES".... well lets just say," Put the instrument down dear," The road to hell is paved with High hopes...... or something like that. |

With Ellen behind the wheel, they should schedule it on Cartoon Network before Scooby Doo and After the Jetsons! Dont dare put it next to The Simpsons. Bart's Springfield seems more exciting than Ellen'S! |

Dim you always are good for a laugh. When things are good on GL you never credit Ellen for any of it and when things are bad, you blame her for everything. It's a shame that you have never had the opportunity to see the show up close and personal and watch it being taped and meet her face to face and see how she is loved by EVERYONE who meets her. I respect your right to have a different opinion, but, in this case you really don't have the facts! She is so respected in the upper management levels, and by the cast and crew alike. This is not her first soap, and she is an excellent actress to boot. I think you are just disappointed in the show and taking your frustrations out on the leader. When the show moves, she'll move with it and me and lots of others, how about you???????????????????? |

PP, by you saying when the show moves, does this mean that there is good news that GL is going to continue? Have you heard anything lately that you can pass along? I am trying so hard to keep my hopes up that some other network will pick GL up. |

Quote PelphreyPosse: Dim you always are good for a laugh. When things are good on GL you never credit Ellen for any of it and when things are bad, you blame her for........ EVERYTHING!! She is the captain of a...........nevermind (scratching my head.) It's currently ship wrecked. And it was at her helm that this occured! I have stated it before and I will say it again, "Ellen Wheeler MURDERED Guiding Light," The Blood is all over her hands!" Now, when you say that she is good hearted and her being a talented actress and ect. I have to AGREE with you. I will argue that never in Guiding Light's history have their been an EP so involved not to mention as motivated as Wheeler. In regards to her acting skills, I agree in that department as well. I remember her as Cindy on AMC and of course she as Vicky/Marley. Extremely talented, in fact, I would go as far to say one of the best in the Industry. I wish she had brang that too the table. I would have love to see her portray a character with a love interest in Buzz Cooper. Im sure she is the sweeeeetest EVER, hOWEVER..........s.w.e.e.t. does not spell Success! |

BUT, the people who run things there, who know FAR more about this than you and I do, have chosen to leave her at the helm for all this time, think back to all the E.P.'s who have come and gone in very brief periods because they did not produce what TPTB were looking for in an executive producer. Don't you think they know what good really is? You and I can debate till the cows come home, but what do we really know except for what we like to see in storylines? What I'm trying to say is, someone else besides me thinks she has done a good job, or she would be HISTORY. |

PP, I agree with you. I don't blame Ellen at all, who do I blame? The individual stations. When I got married and moved to Sacramento, GL wasn't carried by our local CBS affiliate. I had to ask my mom to tape a week's worth and send it to me. I also heard a few stations carried the show around 2 am. One station I saw aired the previous day's episode. When my husband died after a brief two year marriage. I was glad to move back home to continug watching GL with my mother until her passing a year and a half ago. That is what killed GL on CBS. |

Quote PelphreyPosse: What I'm trying to say is, someone else besides me thinks she has done a good job, or she would be HISTORY. She will be history... Sept 19th 2009, as will the rest of the Guiding Light characters and history if Telenext Media can not strike a deal with a cable network. "PP"- When you say- "the people who run things there, who know FAR more about this than you and I do, have chosen to leave her at the helm for all this time, think back to all the E.P.'s who have come and gone in very brief periods because they did not produce what TPTB were looking for in an executive producer. Don't you think they know what good really is?" PP- I do believe the Network executives, telenext and Proctor & Gamble does know what good is! However, I dont exclude them from the crime- IN REGARDS TO THE MURDER OF GL. I believe EVERYONE got to complacent with GL's 72 year history and it's brocasting time on CBS. I dont BLAME CBS one bit. If you cant get the ratings- you cant compete- and if you cant compete -youre waisting time and money! "Advertisement"- Who wants to advertise their product in a time slot where no one is watching or another channel. However, Wheeler just isnt a good fit for GL! Neither was John Conboy and Paul Rauch when they were at the helm. Wheeler's GL is too "REALITY" too dependant on one storyline at a time. Honestly and even now, if GL gets the deal at Lifetime- I dont see how their production will include any more than "Otalia". It's who GL is focused on while every thing else suffers. She needed a year to get started when she first came.... She needed a year to get settled with the Production Model to adjust the sound and shakiness... Now she'll need another year on Lifetime to...... I just know it! CBS gave ATWT another year but not WHEELER- her years are done there! And not a moment too soon. IF ALAN SPAULDING COULD NOT PROFIT AS THE C.E.O. OF THE ENTERPRISE, AND THE BOARD REFUSED TO REPLACE HIM WITH PHILLIP, ALAN-MICHAEL, ALEXANDRA, AMANDA, NICK, OR LIZZIE - NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO CLOSE THE DOORS AT SPAULDING! WHY WOULD YOU MOVE IT TO A NEW TOWN, "Lifetime" ! ALAN'S STILL GOING TO BE RUNNING THE COMPANY! |

My deal with EW is that she either let Grant walk or pushed him...either way is unforgivable! This is not rocket science people...give the viewers what they want and it's easy money. Start putting your own opinions/views of what your target audience wants and you loose your audience. Let your personality clash with a beloved star...loose the star, loose the audience. This is what happened to GL and other soaps. Sure it's a hard industry to be in right now...but Y&R isn't going anywhere or GH. They will be here till the cows come home...because those EP know what the audience wants....it's beloved characters living and loving and they are KEEPING THE CHARACTERS and give the audience the SEX, LIES AND CATFIGHTS! That keep 'em coming back for more! |
