Nik and an unusual accomplice kill Diego: Spinelli! Jason goes into surgery and Luke returns with questions for his female offspring.
Lulu goes to Lucky's house and Scott arrives just behind her. He starts to get on her case for putting his son in a coma, but Luke sits up from his nap on the sofa and reminds Scott that he was supposed to keep his son away from Lulu in the first place! Scott ignores him and tells Lulu that her attack on Logan is starting to seem a little like the Laura/Rick Webber incident. Luke forbids him to talk that way to his daughter. Scott tells Lulu that she's lucky Logan is in a coma because it spares him from the pain of seeing her run off with Johnny. Luke keeps demanding some answers and finally Alice comes down the stairs. Scott agrees to leave but first he says that Lulu is hiding something. "You mean what you did to my mother?" she asks.
Marianna and Ric return to his house overjoyed. He tells her that she's halfway to her green card and freedom to make whatever kind of life she wants for herself. She starts talking about getting a job and a room to rent, but he says that she doesn't need to rush into anything. He tells her that he got rid of some demons while in Martha's Vineyard and now it's her turn to do the same.
Nik and Diego fight on the waterfront and Nik promises that he won't kill again. Diego yells that Nik only lost one person but he lost his whole family! They go around and around until Diego gets the upper hand and wraps a cord around Nik's neck. Nik is able to twist out of it and Diego grabs his passport and leaves. Nik drops to the ground gasping for air and Emily appears to tell him it's not his time to go.
Somewhere below the waterfront, Maxi and Spinelli panic as they try to figure out a way to stop the sewer grate from opening with her attached to it. When it starts to retract into the wall, she begs him to pull her out. Awkwardly, he grabs for her and pries her out just in time. He's in awe of the close contact they had, but she simply climbs up some stairs to get out of there.
At the hospital, Patrick explains to Jason and Liz that they need to get him into the OR to repair nerve damage. All Jason can think of to ask is when can he go back to work? Patrick says that even if the surgery is a success, Jason should take this opportunity to rethink how he uses his hands in the future.
Down the hall, Dr. Devlin examines Sam and flirts with her at the same time. She marvels at how a doctor can be both a plastic surgeon and an oncologist. She asks about the connection and he says she doesn't need to know. Then she asks if he's two different men, too? He dodges the question and tells her that she needs to be admitted overnight for observation.
Alexis is still trying to extricate Jerry from her office without agreeing to a date first! He says that he'll sue her for breech of contract for not fulfilling her duties as his lawyer. He promises that at least they'll get to spend time together during depositions. Finally he goes, and she gets back to work. Later Diane shows up for a workaholic's intervention. She has brought beer and hopes to pry Alexis away from her files. Alexis finally cracks open a bottle and says that her sole purpose in life at this moment is to find out who ran Sam down.
Spinelli and Maxie are finally above ground, but they're not outside exactly. The stairs they climbed led them to the area on the waterfront where Diego nabbed Nadine. They spill the bottle of chlorophyll and Maxie runs off thinking Spinelli is right behind her. She runs right into Diego, who quickly puts her neck into his rope. Nikolas busts into the room and Diego starts to taunt him. As Diego and Nikolas stare each other down, Spinelli whacks Diego on the head with a steal rod.
Sonny checks in on Johnny and finds the padded walls covered in musical notes. Johnny calls it musical therapy and says that it helps to keep him calm. Sonny's goons hold Johnny down so that Sonny can punch him in the gut. Johnny says that he doesn't know a thing about his son or girlfriend, but he does know that he hasn't had anything to eat or drink. Sonny gives his black marker back and tells him to write himself a hymn because he's going to need the prayers.
Liz slips into Jason's room and tells him that Diego still hasn't been brought in. She tells him that saving her life might just have ruined his. He tells her not to feel guilty. She asks how he knew she was on the bridge in the first place. Just then Detective Rodriguez comes in and asks the same thing. Liz tries to get rid of him, but he won't go. He asks how Diego's father died, but Patrick comes and throws him out for harassing his patient. As the detective leaves Jason tells him to go to the warehouse where Sam shot Diego. When asked why there, Jason replies, "…because it just makes sense."
Back on the waterfront, Spinelli and Nik are both wrestling with Diego. They end up wrapping a rope around his neck and tossing him over the edge of the stairs. As Diego twists beneath them, Mac and the cops rush in. Maxie rushes into his arms and Nik collapses.
Randy has left Martha's Vineyard and is in a Port Charles phone booth looking for Ric Lansing's street address. As he leaves the area, two hookers look his way and ask if he wants to party. The man who replies isn't Randy however, it's Dr. Ian Devlin. He looks at them and picks the brunette.
Jason goes into surgery and Patrick tells Liz that he knows they were close once. She says that is ancient history because she has two kids now. Patrick says, "That's good because I tend to hope that a mother and father can work things out where there are kids involved."
After Scott and Alice have left the Spencer house Lulu sits with Luke. He explains that Alice busted him out of Mercy Hospital and offered to stay with him until he and Tracy patch things up. Then he asks her, "You wouldn't keep anything from me about your mother, would you?" Lulu says that her injuring Logan is just too close for comfort that's all. Lulu asks him about Laura's album collection and Luke tells her which closet they are in. Before she goes to find them, he tells her that secrets always come out, especially the ugly ones.
