Holiday Magic Reigns in Port Charles.

Tuesday, December 23 2008
Spinelli and Maxie do Santa's bidding, Monica feels Alan's presence and Laura calls to wish her family a Merry Christmas.

Spinelli comes through Jason's front door and finds 'Santa' waiting for him. Spinelli immediately thinks he's in danger and threatens his kung fu moves, but the man says that there's no time for such things and he needs Spinelli's tech prowess in getting information from his PDA. He says he's all thumbs when it comes to the gift that Mrs. Claus gave him and he needs to access the children's wish lists. After seeing the reindeer on the roof, Spinelli's a believer and rushes to help the man out. When there's a knock at the door, Spinelli lets Maxie in and turns to see only the red coat is left behind. He puts on the coat and tells Maxie that they need to go find out what everyone wants for Christmas!

Diane is outside of Jason's penthouse looking up at the night sky when she can swear that she saw a sleigh. Max joins her and she practically coos at the thought of the romantic holiday they plan on sharing at his house. He timidly informs her that he had to give his house to some Miami associates looking to lie low for a while, so he booked them a hotel room. Diane is instantly angry with him for ditching their holiday together and takes off.

Lulu and Nikolas show up at Lucky's house and promptly order pizza for their Christmas Eve dinner. Luke shows up with a Christmas tree and the first thing they all ask is how much he's had to drink. He brushes their skepticism off and comments about how 'unfestive' they are. Just then, Spinelli and Maxie show up to spread some holiday cheer. Spinelli hears some jingle bells and reaches into his magical Santa suit and pulls out a key for Lulu. He promises it will bring her cheer.

After Spinelli and Maxie rush off, Lucky and Nik go to the attic to get the ornaments. Later, Luke recalls the story about a long-ago Christmas in which Laura insisted on putting an angel on top of their tree even though they didn't have enough money for it. Lucky looks everywhere for the angel, but can't find it. When he finally produces a locked box, Lulu tries the key Spinelli gave her and pulls out the Angel. She can't believe her eyes. The phone rings and Luke answers it. It's Laura! They all wish her a Merry Christmas and Lulu puts the angel on the top of their tree.

Patrick returns home with eggnog lattes and finds Robin in a foul mood. She's upset about misplacing her grandmother Philomena's necklace and yells at him for not helping her around the house. Robert and Anna arrive to find there's no food for their Christmas Eve dinner and Patrick forgot to pick up the dessert. Maxie and Spinelli arrive and he pulls a gift for the new mother out of his pocket. He tries to give Santa and his jacket the credit, but Maxie shushes him and drags him out the door. Robin opens the bag and finds some cookies that Anna promptly takes a bite out of in spite of Patrick's warnings about Spinelli's cooking. Anna marvels at the taste. Robert bites next and then Robin. She can't believe that Spinelli somehow got her grandma Philomena's recipe! Later, Patrick drops a cookie and when he looks under a chair to pick it up, he finds the missing necklace.

Maxie and Spinelli scurry along the waterfront on their way to their next destination and come across Max. He tells them about this problem with Diane and Maxie explains that his woman wants to know that she's special and it doesn't matter where they spend time together. Spinelli pulls out a gift for him. He hands it over and they run off. Max is wondering why a pawn ticket will solve his problem.

Diane finds Bernie lighting his menorah at home. She is loudly venting about her boyfriend's lack of sensitivity, but he tries to enlighten her about his family customs. She calms down and listens and then realizes that she never asked Max about his customs.

Spinelli and Maxie go over to Bernie's house and hand Diane a phone. They tell her to phone her loved one and she tearfully calls Max. She cries and tells him that she'll be right over and then kisses them all on her way out the door.

When she meets Max on the waterfront, he has decorated a landing with candles and a romantic table for two. He presents her with a beautiful snow globe that he picked up at a pawnshop and she melts over the sentiment of it all.

"Ba," "Hum," "Bug," Monica, Edward and then Tracy pipe up as Alice brings a little Christmas tree into the Quartermaine study. Edward says that he can't bear to have a tree without Lila, and Monica remembers that Emily used to help Lila decorate. Alan appears and calls them all whiners and Tracy starts to bicker with him. Monica tells her to stop her imaginary conversations with Alan, so Tracy tries to throw him out. Alan says he won't go anywhere until she tells Monica that he loves her. That's when Spinelli and Maxie arrive and pull a pair of glasses out of Santa's pocket. Edward, Tracy and Alice leave the room in disgust, but Spinelli and Maxie urge Monica to put them on. Monica won't listen, but they put the glasses under the tree anyway. Only Alan remains and he silently urges her to put them on. She wistfully walks over to the tree and puts the glasses on. When she turns around she is shocked to see Alan standing before her. She marvels at the miracle and they only argue for a little while before she tells him how much she has missed him and falls into his arms.

When Spinelli and Maxie return to Jason's penthouse, Santa is waiting for them. Maxie can't believe her eyes. They tell him that they only made it to three houses and couldn't find out what everyone wanted for Christmas. Santa tells them that he never needed to know, he just wanted to prove that Spinelli's heart is so good that he can see other people's wishes. They ask him to pose for a picture with them and then he's off. Maxie gives Spinelli a little kiss goodbye and says that Santa is right about him.

Spinelli falls asleep on the sofa and is awakened by a call from Maxie. She tells him that she thought she was having a strange dream, but she woke up and found a present. He says that he has one too. Together, they open their gifts and find a framed photo of themselves with Santa. They wish each other a Merry Christmas and then wish all of the TV viewers a Merry Christmas, too.

It was a festive time with the Spencer, Quartermaine and Scorpio families.

The Jingle Jackal & Maxi were an absolute joy in spreading Christmas cheer.

Diane gave it her genuine touch as she wipes her tears with Max’s blanket gift.

Wishing everyone a Happy & Safe Christmas Holiday!!

Great episode. Loved every minute of it. Finally, a happy day on General Hospital

I haven't posted in awhile .. but have been reading your comments and watching - hit & miss - on SoapNet but I have to say once in awhile GH gets it right and makes me realize why I keep watching this soap. Today's episode was a great example of what the writers can do. Haven't said that about GH for some time.

Spinelli and Maxie as Mr & Mrs Claus was just right. The scenes with Monica & Alan were great ..just what we have been missing. And the rest ... Diane & Max even the Spencer family was tolerable.

What would have been perfect if Jason walked in with Jake and introduced him to his grandparents.

If you could have a Christmas wish granted what would it be:
Me? I would love to have my family together celebrating the holiday.

I would like to say hello to cbru, ebony, matthiewsmom and everyone on this site and wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and the healtiest and happiest New Year !!!

I really choked up seeing Bernie lighting the menorah and saying a Hebrew prayer. It seems that he is still carrying a torch for Diane.

Bernie, I am right here - yoo hoo, look my way!

What a great episode. I'm looking forward to watching this one but no Sonny, Jason et al. At least they showed Diane, I've missed her.

Well, it's Christmas Eve here and am hopefully finishing work early today. It's just on 10.00am.

So Merry Christmas to my fellow GH viewers and have a safe and Happy New Year.
