Mac Did What No One Else Could. Thursday, October 09 2008

Robin and Patrick get engaged, Jason goes along with Max's charade and Sonny tells Kate that he's going back to the mob.

At the Metro Court, Jax tells Nikolas to do them all a favor and back off. Nikolas reserves his right to make a sound investment. The two men get into their old baggage with one another (Nikolas stealing Courtney from Jax, Jax stealing Spencer from Nik, etc.) Jax turns to Carly and announces that he'll stop Nikolas's revenge no matter what she wants. He stomps off, and Carly asks Nikolas how she can know that he and Jax won't tear each other apart if they go into business together? You don't, is his reply. Then he lays out his ideas to use his cash influx to develop a yoga area for guests and Carly is impressed with his thinking.

Things in the guest quarters of The Metro Court aren't very pleasant either. Up in Jerry's room, Nadine struggles to get away from him, but he's able to hold her and pull out a syringe at the same time. After he sticks her, she crumbles to the ground.

Jason has just walked into his office and found it full of people. Diane introduces Jason as Max's bodyguard, but Maximus says that he knows exactly who he is. He calls Jason a 'goombah' who shows no respect by walking into the boss's office wearing jeans. He demands an apology from Jason and then whacks him upside the head. Maxi, Milo and Diane wince as they wait for Jason's reaction. Instead, Jason says that he meant no disrespect and leaves. Maximus turns his attention to Diane and asks if she has a man. Diane says that her man is wonderful, tender and loving. Maximus calls him a loser because a woman like her needs a real man.

When Jason returns in a black designer suit, Maximum tells him to fetch an espresso, but Milo goes instead. Bernie calls and Max takes the lead, with Jason watching on. Max echoes Bernie's dilemma so that Jason can indicate how to handle it, "Coast guard circling the shipment? Should we bring it in anyway or stay outside of jurisdiction?" Jason nods to the latter and renders Max able to direct Bernie. Diane quickly asks Maximus to come check out Port Charles with her, and he's happy to oblige. Max orders Milo (or 'Mario', according to his father) to 'protect' them, although it's clearly Diane's clothing that needs protection. Jason quickly calls Bernie back and then tells him to use his home phone from now on. Then he tells Max that this charade couldn't have happened at a worse time and that Maximus has three days for his little visit.

Spinelli is helping Maxie over at Crimson's offices. She's trying to get the December issue ready so that her career doesn't go down the toilet while Kate's in the hospital. Olivia comes in and hears Maxie acting as if she runs the place. She questions whether her cousin would be happy about this and promises that Maxie will be out on her 'keester' when she finds out. Spinelli speaks glowingly of Maxie's capabilities to cover for 'The Glacial One'. Olivia, seemingly enjoying his description of Kate, softens and tells Spinelli that he's cute. Then she offers to help Maxie get Kate's approval on the December issue. She tells Maxie that she reminds her of Connie when she was younger.

At GH, Sonny is sitting with Kate as she complains about the hospital's lack of latte on the breakfast tray. Sonny is more in the mood to confess his sins, but Kate doesn't blame him for Karpov's methods of retaliation over a broken business deal. Sonny asks if Karpov sent any signals, and Kate recalls the flowers that came to the church before the ceremony. Sonny can guess the rest, "Blood red roses?" He tells Kate that he can't lie anymore and that he has to get revenge to make sure this never happens again. "The only way I know how to do that is to go back to the mob." Kate pulls her hand away from his and says that more violence isn't the answer. She asks him to come with her to Manhattan or Paris, but he won't run away. He wants to be with her, but he has to defend what's his.

Mac has brought Patrick into the PCPD interrogation room wearing handcuffs. He says that Robin should be along shortly and they will remain in here until they work things out. True to form, Robin races in, huffing and puffing. Mac and Patrick both tell her to sit down and catch her breath, but she tells Mac that he is being ridiculous. Mac tells Robin that he loves her, and has learned to respect Patrick. He points out that they love each other, want to spend the rest of their lives together and will soon share a baby. He says that the fear of a marriage failing can be crippling, and adds that when Felicia left him, it broke his heart. He wouldn't trade a day of it, however. Then he leaves them alone.

Robin and Patrick are both eager to talk. He lets her go first, and Robin says that she doesn't know how he's been able to stand her controlling ways. Patrick says that she's been pretty wonderful. He credits her for teaching him what love means and says that their little girl is the second greatest thing to happen to him. He adds that if it was up to him, he'd ask for it all, the love, the marriage, the homework and soccer practice, everything. Then, he kneels in front of her and asks her to marry him one more time. She happily accepts. When Mac returns, he finds them kissing and gives them a warm and loving congratulations.

Nikolas returns to the clinic, but finds it locked. He tries his key, but it isn't working. When he looks through the window, he sees Nadine's lifeless body on the floor. He breaks in and wakes her. She says that she was going through the meds and must've fallen asleep. (Jerry is looking on.)

Maxie has asked Spinelli to work through the night with her. He gladly accepts and gets a quick tutorial regarding the difference between a handbag and a clutch. Later, they hear someone in the lobby and see shadows of two men lurking around out there.

When Max sees that his father's about to return, he urges Jason to let him sit behind the desk. Jason takes the stance of a bodyguard just as Maximus, Diane and Milo return from their stroll. Diane goes straight for a cocktail and Maximus tries to swat her rear as she walks by. Maximus orders Jason to get him a drink just as Carly walks in. She asks Jason what the heck is going on?

Olivia and Sonny have an argument.

Alexis decides that it's time to take Andre Karpov down.

Karpov orders Jerry to kill the District Attorney.

Maximus meeting Carly, and then Maxie and Spinelli almost brings the charade to an end.

Maxie complicates things for Max.

Patrick struggles with what to do with Olivia's secret.

Robin and Patrick set their wedding date.

Claudia and Ric meet at Jake's for Round Two of their affair.

Olivia and Claudia meet and instantly don't like each other.

Sam gets herself in a little deeper with Karpov's business.
