One by one, Sonny is running out of options, Kate asks Diane the truth about Sonny and Claudia knocks Johnny out cold.
Anthony is laying out his plan to Sonny over at the GH chapel. He says that he needs someone with Sonny's experience and it's perfect timing because Sonny needs his organization right now. He explains that he, too, has been wanting to get rid of the Russians and is surprised that Jason didn't take care of things for him. Sonny doesn't want to discuss Jason and yells that Anthony can't pay him enough to run his organization. He says that he can take down the Russians all by himself!
Nik has brought Nadine into GH after her fall down the stairs. While she's being examined, Nik talks to Liz about how oddly Nadine is acting lately. He mentions the fact that she didn't even stay for breakfast 'the morning after' and explains that he was talking business with Alfred when she just got up and left! Suddenly Liz understands that Nadine must've felt unimportant after what was likely the most romantic night of her life. She suggests that Nik talk to Nadine, not her.
Just as Matt is finishing his examination of Nadine, Nik walks into the room. He asks Matt if he's back at work too soon? Matt says that he heals fast and that he has bills to pay. He thanks Nikolas for pulling him out of the burning clinic, but Nik says that was Nadine's idea. After Matt leaves, Nadine tells Nik not to worry because she'll be fine. Nik says that he does worry, and then asks what she wanted to talk to him about before she fell. Nadine nervously says that just because they slept together doesn't mean things need to change. She offers him a friendly handshake and then leaves the room.
Down the hall, Kate asks Olivia if Sonny used the exact words that he's going into a mob war. Olivia tries to resist talking about it for fear of upsetting her, but Kate urges her to go on. She says that Sonny broke a business deal with a man named Karpov, so her shooting was a message from him. She says that Carly told her as much. That's all Kate needs to hear to believe it's a lie. "You trying to turn me against Sonny and I know why. It's because you have his son," Kate tells a stunned Olivia. She goes on to say that the promise she made to keep quiet was years ago and that Sonny would be a wonderful father to Dante. Olivia says that she'd rather rip out her tongue than let that happen because Sonny is the reason Kate got shot!
Sonny shows up in Kate's room behind Olivia and agrees that this is all his fault. Kate assures him that she would never have died just as they were about to get what they've always wanted. He tells her to get some sleep, but she asks him to stay with her. He looks as if he has somewhere else to be, but slips into the chair next to her bed for a while. After she's asleep and Sonny's gone, Olivia sits next to the bed. She says that Kate should've kept running, but if she insists on wrecking her life over Sonny Corinthos she can, but she'd better leave her son out of it.
A little later, Diane shows up to visit with Kate. She tells Olivia how revolutionary her cousin's layouts are in the fashion world. Kate gives a little smile and then asks if Karpov shot her because Sonny's still in the mob? Diane tries to change the conversation by saying that Sonny's biggest hope is that she recovers fully. Kate asks if Carly was lying when she told Olivia that Sonny was in bed with Karpov. Realizing that she is against a wall, Diane says that Sonny may have changed who he does business with, but the business itself hasn't really changed.
Olivia has stepped into the hallway to take a call from Dante. She starts arguing with him and tells him that he should not come to Port Charles!
Cody is with Jason over at the coffee house office. He suggests that some of the other 'lieutenants' might be willing to do as Sonny asks, but he wasn't. Spinelli comes in and Jason tells him to use phone records to see who Sonny's been talking too. Before long, Spinelli has produced evidence that several of his men have spoken with Sonny, some more than once.
Johnny is furious when he finds Claudia and Ric naked together in his penthouse. He tells Claudia that she doesn't need to sleep with a pig like Ric, and that he's using her to get into their family's inner circle. Ric denies it and tells Johnny that he doesn't get a say in the matter. As the new lovers start to get dressed, Claudia tells Johnny that she didn't have to go through with the bet, she wanted to. Ric tells Johnny to find another way to deal with the fact that things in his life aren't going well, so Johnny does. He punches Ric in the face. Claudia thinks quick and knocks her brother out. She promises Ric that she'll call him, but tells him to leave so she can handle Johnny.
When Johnny wakes up, she tells him that they should watch movies all night so that he doesn't sleep in case he has a concussion. Johnny, rubbing his head, tells her to promise that she won't see Ric Lansing again. Claudia says that her personal life is off limits, just like his is. Johnny says that he'll kill the guy if he so much as makes her cry.
Ric goes out to the Zacchara mansion and tells Anthony that his son is out of control! Anthony laughs and offers to give Ric 'hazard pay'. Ric tells him that if he's able to bring Sonny into their fold, he'd better get his son under control. Anthony reports that he already made a compelling pitch to Sonny to think about. He reports that Sonny turned him down, but the more Jason betrays him, the more the proposal will make sense to him.
Jason and Cody, guns drawn, slither along the walls of a coffee warehouse as they follow the sound of Sonny's voice. He's thanking a guy named Tommy for his loyalty and explaining why he has no choice but to take over the business. Jason and Cody make themselves seen and tell Sonny that it's not going to happen. Tommy quickly aligns himself with Jason and reminds Sonny that he sold the organization to Mr. Morgan. Jason tells Sonny that he's already talked to the rest of his organization and nothing will change. Sonny cannot believe that Jason won't help him in his time of need and says that he'll regret it. "I already do," Jason says.
With Jason's desk empty, Max plops down behind the desk and starts slamming liquor from the bottom drawer. Milo nervously tells him to get away from the boss's desk! As if he's not listening, Max tells his brother that their father was so impressed with him when they were in Sicily together that he's coming to Port Charles for a visit. Milo doesn't see what's wrong with that, so Max clarifies that he told their dad that he runs the mob!

Max sweats bullets as he welcomes his father to Port Charles.
Jason walks in on Max and Maximus, his father.
Nikolas tries to buy Carly's shares of The Metro Court and Jax loses it.
Robin goes to Mac with news that Patrick doesn't want to marry her anymore.
Nadine decides Jerry had something to do with the clinic fire.
Jerry busts Nadine posing as a maid in his hotel room.
Jason tells Elizabeth that they'll never have a future together.

But, as reality would have it, Jason is the penultimate hero on this soap, so he could never lose. Given that "reality", I just don't see how AZ can survive for much longer, since he did a direct strike against Sonny & indirectly, through Sonny, will attempt an attack on Jason. Too bad too, b/c he was the only part about this whole mob storyline that was interesting to watch.
