Lulu manages to enjoy a few minutes of her birthday, Mike is threatened by Karpov's men and Jerry prepares to take out a hit.
"I made it clear, no drugs!" Sonny yells as Karpov approaches him on the waterfront. The Russian tells Sonny that he makes too much money to make so many demands. Sonny is irate and walks out on him. Karpov yells after him that he's not ready to sever their business relationship. Sonny says that's too bad because he went back on his word.
Nik assures Lucky and Sam that they can get back to their lives soon, hopefully. In addition to Sam's undercover work, he talks about what Nadine's theory about Matt Hunter is. He comments that all she's really doing is embarrassing herself. As they talk, Jerry enters the clinic so Nik goes out to the main room so Lucky and Sam can remain hidden. Jerry tells Nik that he has some news about some bad medicine that's circulating. Nik asks why he should listen to him, and Jerry says that he hears things and doesn't want Nik's good works to be affected. "Heart medication…dispense it with care," he warns and then leaves.
On the waterfront Matt tells Nadine to leave him the hell alone! Claudia shows up, with a gun and tells Matt to leave her alone. Matt tries to justify his behavior by saying that Nadine is stalking him, but Claudia tells him to keep walking. After Matt has left, Nadine says she was about to find out something important! Claudia realizes that something is up and tells Nadine to come with her.
She delivers Nadine to Nikolas at the clinic and tells him about the scene she interrupted on the Van Ness Street pier. (Sam and Lucky hear this and then slip out the back.) Nadine informs Nik that he is not her boyfriend, he is merely her employer and he cannot tell her what to do. She stomps off and Claudia tells Nik that Nadine has it bad for him. Nik pulls up a chair and asks Claudia if he has proven himself to be trustworthy yet. She says that he has, so Nik asks if she's heard from Johnny and if Lulu's safe. Claudia says that she got one phone call and is positive that Johnny will do his best to keep Nik's sister safe. Nik talks lovingly about Lulu's vulnerability and Claudia commiserates about how scared she is too. Nik asks if they could maybe work together on this and Claudia quickly agrees to do whatever it takes.
In Manhattan, Lulu is staring at (her vision of) Logan's bloody body when Johnny comes into the room to ask what they should do about dinner. He reminds her that it's her birthday and before all of this happened he had big plans for them tonight. She tells him that he should be cursing the day she was born, not celebrating it. He says that he would be lost without her. Then, he asks about her favorite birthday ever and she recalls her 10th. Nikolas had thrown her a princess party because her parents were out of town. She remembers him waltzing her around in his big ballroom and softens when she recalls that Nik told her that her family loves her even when they are not around. Johnny finds some old music of Professor Segal's and invites her to waltz with him even though he's not a prince.
Sonny comes home early and finds Kate holding a wedding bouquet. He suggests that they elope since the flowers are ready and everything. She likes the idea, but says that she has grown rather attached to the idea of walking down the aisle to the man of her dreams. Then she asks him to help her make some decisions. After hearing the pros and cons of various arrangements Sonny wishes he could offer an opinion, but he can't stop thinking about his bride coming down the aisle.
Mike comes into the room and tells Sonny that they have to talk and it can't wait. Kate kisses both men goodbye and leaves them to talk. Mike says that three big Russian men came into Kelly's and threatened him. Sonny admits that until tonight he was working with a heavy-hitter from Russia and it sounds like he's not happy that he ended their arrangement. He explains that he was just trying to pave the way for Jason, but the guy was dealing drugs so he walked. Mike hears him out but says that working with Karpov gave Sonny a fix that he probably needed and that's no good. Sonny says that all it did was convince him that he does not want to go back.
Maxie is in Jason's office continuing her work of bolstering Spinelli's ego. Among other things, she points out that a computer is just a doorstop if the wrong person tries to use it. Just then Carly and Jason burst through the door and Jason tells Maxie to leave so that Spinelli can get to work. Maxie says that if Carly is staying, so is she. Carly says that she could explain how much more important she is to Jason's life than Maxie is to Spinelli's, but she's going to lead by example and leave with her so the guys can get to work. Maxie gives Spinelli a sweet cheek kiss and then follows Carly out the door.
Jason hands Karpov's PDA over and tells Spinelli to find out as much as he can. Spinelli quickly discerns that he landed a shipment at 7:53 tonight. Jason suddenly realizes that Carly left so willingly because she must've seen where Karpov was heading. He heads out the door.
Meanwhile, Karpov is meeting with Jerry. He's in a sour mood because Sonny broke their arrangement and tells Jerry to deal with Mr. Morgan.
Next, Karpov goes out to Sonny's house to deliver a message. He tells Sonny that he has miscalculated and their arrangement is far from over.
Sam and Lucky are on the Van Ness Street pier looking around to see why Matt Hunter might have been there. Lucky says that Nadine has a crush on Nik so there's probably not much to it. Sam takes offense to his treating a love-struck woman like she can't think straight. Then she sees an alley that leads to Pier 52 where Karpov landed his shipment!
Spinelli goes down to Pier 52 to return Karpov's PDA to the scene. He is quickly nabbed by Sasha and some goons. Just then Maxie bursts in and asks what they are doing to her boyfriend. Nearby Carly starts prying open a crate and is nabbed from behind. She struggles but finally realizes that it's Jason. He tells her that he can't be worrying about her right now. Jerry is in the shadows lining up his shot.
Nik has gone back to Wyndemere. He calls Lesley to check in with her because it's Lulu's birthday. Then Nadine shows up and rambles on until Nik tells her that he has no idea what she's talking about. Nadine flies into his arms and plants a big kiss on him.
