The Crumbling of Carly's Denial.

Monday, May 12 2008
Reality is finally setting in for Michael's sad mother, Kate can't keep her secret any longer and Alexis sees the light today too.

Lulu tells Johnny to keep driving. He asks if there's any particular reason they are going somewhere together and Lulu says because his father wants them to. She explains that Anthony threatened to send Luke to prison for money laundering if she didn't make his son happy. Johnny tells Lulu that his father using her is exactly what he was worried about and for now they have to play along and act like they are together. Lulu says that she doesn't have to pretend because she still cares about him. Johnny says that they will appear to be a couple just long enough for him to get his father put away for good. She asks why he would do that and risk his inheritance and Johnny says it's the only way she'll ever be safe.

Claudia and Jerry are on the waterfront trying to come to an agreement about how to proceed with keeping Sonny in the dark about their involvement with Ian. They both threaten to expose the other. Jerry warns about Johnny's safety and Claudia returns the favor by bringing Jax into the mix. As Jerry puts the squeeze on Claudia for emphasis, he suddenly decides to kiss her. They no sooner lock lips when Alexis comes upon them. Jerry tries to act casual and Alexis tries to control her anger. Claudia smiles and tells her that she and Jerry are business partners and then leaves. Jerry tries to explain, but Alexis tells him to get a different attorney. He tells her that he simply gave in to Claudia's hotness for a moment and it's a result of the back 'n forth tango between them. Alexis tells him that she doesn't care what he does, and he tells her that jealousy looks good on her.

Jax tells Carly that it's understandable that seeing the long-term care facility for the first time was hard for her. Carly tries to pull herself together and clean up the mess she made. As they pick up the broken items from the floor, Carly says that she'd like to paint the room blue for Michael. They apologize to the administrator for her initial reaction and tell her that they will be bringing Michael stay with them.

At Crimson, Sonny tells Jason that there's no way Kate would have anything to do with Michael's shooter. Kate asks Sonny to let Jason leave so she can discuss some things with him in private. Jason leaves without saying a word. Sonny starts to apologize for what Jason accused her of, but she interrupts and admits that she paid Ian a million dollars to leave town. He remains frozen in place as she explains that she was concerned about his quest for vengeance. She says that she wanted to stop the cycle of violence. "It wasn't your call to make," Sonny tells her. He feels as if she didn't protect him, she protected the man who shot his son. He calls it betrayal and leaves.

Luke is having a private poker game on The Haunted Star so that Sam can sit in and show her gambling prowess. As Sam rakes in the chips, Tracy shows up. She's upset to find Luke playing instead of working on his books and tells him that he is a waste of her energy. Luke pulls her aside and tells her that he's trying to meet her halfway and she tells him to get rid of the Zaccharas then. Detective Harper enters and tells them all that they are in violation of a court order.

Nadine pops into Nik's room to check on him before she starts her shift. As they talk, Patrick and Robin come in and Nik asks Nadine to stay while they tell him his prognosis. Patrick says the surgery was a complete success and he could just outlive them all.

Jason rushes over to GH to see Michael and proceeds to tell him about Kate paying Devlin off. He stops himself midway through the story and says that none of this should be in Michael's life. He sits down and tells him that Carly wanted to come to the warehouse to get him that night, but he didn't let her. He wishes that he was there to protect him like his father couldn't. Carly comes in and tells Jason that Michael will get excellent care at the new place and will be transferred soon. She tells Jason about the tantrum she threw when it finally hit her that her little boy will live in that room and eat from a tube for the rest of his life. Carly wonders if Morgan will remember Michael playing with him or the sound of his laugh. She cries and hopes that his spirit is at the place that he loves - the beach.

Jax goes into Kate's office and finds her crying. He offers her a handkerchief and asks her to trust him enough to tell him what's wrong. "You'll be happy to know that Sonny and I are done," she tells him through her tears. Without going into detail, she tells Jax that she loves Sonny but can't be a part of it all anymore. Jax is sorry that she's hurt.

Sonny storms onto The Haunted Star looking for a drinking buddy but Luke is nowhere to be found. Claudia, however, is. Sonny tells her even though she's a lying tramp, at least she doesn't pretend to be anything else. As she pours herself a drink, Claudia appears to be flattered rather than insulted.

Johnny and Lulu report to Anthony to tell him that nothing he can do will keep them apart. Anthony tells Johnny not to let it affect business and leaves the room. After he's gone, Johnny kisses Lulu (in case Anthony looks back). He does.

Alexis has called Luke to meet her at the Elm Street pier. She claims that she wants to do him a favor, but before she gets down to business she wants his manly opinion on something. She asks him what is so alluring about a woman who dresses like a streetwalker and "vomits her sexuality on the lap of every man she meets?" Luke is confused for a minute, and then says that she clearly caught her man with his hands in Claudia Zachhara's cookie jar. Alexis says that if Jerry Jacks wants to crawl into bed with a blow-up doll she doesn't care. Now that that's settled, Luke wants to know why she called him, unless she wanted him to become her girlfriend all of a sudden. She tells him that the D.A.'s office got word of the fact that he made $500,000 too quickly on his opening night and because they are girlfriends now, she's going to turn her head this time.

Next on General Hospital:

Luke dresses up and buys Tracy a ring.

Robin considers doing a video diary of her pregnancy.

Kate overhears Sonny talking to Michael about her.

just to clarify.Laura has 3 kids. Nic is a Cassadine-not Lukes .. so her kids have differents dads too

For clarification,I understand the comments about Liz's two children being the results of one night stands, vs, being in marriages or "relationships" with the fathers at the time. These are two totally different things. If you are in a relationship and married to the father of your child, then I think that is a completely different thing than having two children who are BOTH the result of a one night stand while MARRIED at the time to someone else. This is not to start anything but to merely clarify that there is certainly a huge difference. Laura was married to the fathers of her children, so to even compare her to this issue would be ridiculous.
Now as for Carly right now, I have to say I am totally amazed at how she is drawing me in with her devotion to her son, and her love as a mother. I do have to point out that I would love to have seen this same devotion throughout the years with Carly and her kids when she has been so busy butting into everyone else's life and running everyone else's relationships to not be concerned about where her children where and who their father was at that time, but the beauty is now she is seeing first hand what her choices brought about, and she is grieving like any mother would who realizes the error of their choices, and while basically Carly the character drives me to drink with her ways, the acting here and the story lines is both realistic and award winning and I give HUGE kudos to Laura Wright for the job she is doing.
"Spoiler Alert" ********

I have read that Lulu and Maxi have to join forces to solve a problem and I must say this intrigues me. I have done a 180 where Maxi is concerned and still cannot bear the character of Lulu, but to see these two come together would certainly be an interesting story line and definitly better than the cat fighting, especially to see how it is accomplished, so this is one spoiler I am hoping will happen and very excited to see what takes place!

Good morning!

I guess we all have our own opinions, I'm just surprised that some think Carly/Michael s/l should move forward more quickly. I think it's a devastating s/l that has touched many lives on GH, not just Carly. A s/l involving a child that the actor has been playing from the beginning, a child that belongs to some major characters. How can they properly move forward with this s/l if they don't show us the mental torment that these people are feeling? Soap time moves in a different fashion, but I don't see it as being dragged. This is nothing compared to the Liz/Jason/Jake s/l or the TMK, or Nic's tumor. I think we'd all be shocked if Carly just stopped crying and shipped off her first born in a heartbeat. Let's see this through, as heartwrenching as it is, it's one very big s/l that can't really be rushed. There are too many lives/relationships being affected. JMO.

right you are NY, This is truly a story worthy of the time given it. You cant rush a mothers torment and how she would react to knowing and the process of accepting or not accepting the terrible fact that your son will never wake up.Dont see how you can put a time line on that kind of story and grief, as long as its not the same thing everyday. Which I have not yet seen. Now that we have finally got some closure to Nic and Emily here is a story that needs a breath of fresh air and a different direction, as well as that of Robins pregnancy that everyone is already sick of the whining and acting like no one in the world has ever done this before, (so self absorbing). Granted I get that she is HIV, but that is never the issue, the issue is her hangups with making Patrick papa of the year when I have serious concerns about her own ability to be a nurturing mother and make it about the baby and not her self, but I stay tuned and hold out for the hope that the writers occasionly drift this way and see the comments and desires of us the viewers and eventually our wishes will bear fruit! hehe.

IMO, Robin has always been that way. Everything has to be about her.

NY- I think because it is so heartwrenching, I for one would like to see it go. I do understand that the s/l has to play out. I hate when the writers leave things hanging. Monica, Stan's death, Lucky & Sam, where are all these s/l's?

Posted by mjs93 at Tuesday, May 13 2008 08:03 AM

Also one of the reasons I would like to see an end to this s/l is because i'm really interested in see if Carly's personality changes at all.

I would really like to see her get a girlfriend (not jase). Maybe Liz. I always thought the would have a remarkable friendship they are sooooo different.

Hi Girls and Mob Boss ~~~~ I'm sooooooooo glad to see our # of posts going back up! Welcome back to all who quit posting for a while! I just finished reading the 5 pages of comments that was posted after I logged off yesterday! It's so good to be able to read the comments w/ everyone giving their opinions of the characters and s/l's, and giving each poster that differs in their opinion 'respect!' Thank You! Think how boring this site would be if we ALL felt the SAME WAY towards the different characters and s/l's We wouldn't have anything to talk about or think about. I love a good friendly, respectful debate! There's always 'two sides' to everything. By giving our opinions on how we interepted a character or s/l gives us a chance to see all sides. I love ya's, Susie

I waited until this morning to make my comments be known - gave me an opportunity to read all of your interesting comments from yesterday.

I've been a GH fan for the last 45 years and I have to admit that the women of today are totally different from the ones of yester - year. The new generation "GH" woman is more promiscuous than ever and don't seem to care if they sleep with their mother's husbands, their baby daddy's brother, their best friends man etc. These actions to me s/b TABOO! Why would you want someone you know "sloppy seconds"?

I can even understand (maybe not condone) the one night stands but what happened to using protection? This is the 21st century and we've come a long way with penicillin but there are STDs out there that stay with you for life like HIV and Herpes. Also these unprotected affairs run the risk of bringing a baby into the world labled w the "B" word. Why aren't TBTB advocating the use of condoms?

As passionately as we all get on this board on a variety of subjects - I believe the writers have a great opportunity to relay some s/l with "ethicical" messages we could relate to.

This is entertainment and I hope they stop making the women of todays GH look so trashy and desperate for a man they sleep with any and everybody on the show. Also let's see a family that has a mother and father in the hosehold. JMO.
