More Heartbreak for Carly. Thursday, May 08 2008

The adults in Morgan's life duke it out on his behalf, Kate speaks her mind about Carly and Alexis makes a date.

Nadine visits Nikolas and finds Emily's diamond ring in his hand. When he wakes up, she asks him about it but he didn't know it was there. He comments that Emily must have wanted him to have it. They let it go at that and Nadine tells him that the surgery was a success. She tells him that if he had waited even one week he would have died. Nikolas tells her that he owes her his life then.

Tracy is at the Metro Court having an ELQ business lunch. She's in a foul mood and sends her bean counter away. The second he leaves, Luke sits down and asks her if he can come home yet. She tells him that she likes him living on The Haunted Star and suggests that maybe Anna will come back for dunk acrobatics soon. He tells her that he loves her but she's too jealous to see it. She claims not to be jealous of an aging spy and says that she is done nagging him.

Alexis and Jerry are in the interrogation room at the PCPD. "Did you have anything to do with it (the botched hit on Sonny)?" she asks. Jerry says that he does not know Dr. Devlin other than that he has seen him around town. He quickly changes the subject and says that he's trying to tear down the wall between them but she insists on building it back up. He calls her stubborn and she calls him a liar. He softly tells her that he has changed, thanks to her and Jax, and explains that he hopes she can be one of the good things in his life from now on. He asks if he can prove that to her. She makes a feeble attempt at claiming that she's busy but finally gives in to a dinner date. After he leaves, Mac asks her if he should assign someone to investigate Jerry Jacks and she says that she's on it.

Claudia asks Jason what he's doing in her room? He says that she knows something about Michael's shooting, and she tells him that it must have been her father's idea. Jason says that he wants to believe her, but he needs proof. All she has to go on is a voice in her head, she shrugs. Jason agrees to leave but says that she is covering something.

Sonny rushes into Michael's room to try to help Carly deal with Morgan. He gently tells his son that Michael is not going to wake up. They go downstairs and Carly gets on Sonny's case for confusing Morgan like that. Sonny tells her that she's living a fantasy and he's living in guilt, but the fact is that Michael isn't going to wake up and they shouldn't lie to a confused five year-old. He can see that he's not getting through to her, so he says that he'll have to file a petition for emergency guardianship of Michael. Carly says that she has a few things to tell a judge if it comes to that. Sonny cries and urges her to look at their son and finally realize that he's already gone.

After Sonny as left, Jason shows up at Carly's house. She fills him in on what's gone on with Morgan and then Sonny. Jason says that what's best for Morgan is what matters now. Carly can't believe that even Jason is giving up now. He explains that he has broken every promise he ever made to Michael. Carly recalls that he warned her when they first met that his life was too dangerous for a child but she forged ahead anyway and asked him to claim Michael as his son. "We did this," Jason tells her. He begs her not to let Morgan grow up with his brother in the next room (never moving). He tells her that she needs to stop thinking about what she wants and to put Morgan first.

Then, he goes upstairs to see Michael. He kneels beside the bed and admits that he never should've lied and said he was his father. He said he should've never left him with Sonny either. "You needed to be safe and I didn't protect you," Jason says. He chokes back tears and promises Michael that he'll never do to Jake what he's done to him.

Sonny goes home and finds Diane waiting for him. He asks her to drop all her other projects and file for emergency guardianship of Michael. As he explains his reasoning, Kate comes in and tells him that he can't do that to Carly. Diane leaves them to talk alone, and Sonny tells Kate about Morgan shaking Michael to wake up. He says that he has to do right by Morgan at least. Kate suggests that he take a step back and have some faith in Carly as a mother. Sonny asks why Kate would defend Carly of all people and she explains that Carly will come to the right realization - at the right time.

Luke goes to visit Nikolas. Nik asks him how he's supposed to move on without the woman who made his life worthwhile in the first place. Clearly referring to Laura, Nik asks Luke how he was able to endure it not once, but twice? Luke takes a deep breath and says at first he didn't want to bounce back at all. He recalls the process he went through and says somehow you just learn to accept the loss. "One day before you know it, you're no longer standing on the edge of an abyss," he sadly shares. They move on to the subject of finding love again and Nik can't see that ever happening for him. Luke says that you surely can't recreate the same love. But love feels like a first time every time around, he says, and calls it a miracle. He tells Nikolas that he's a young man and it'll happen no matter what he thinks. He gets up to leave and Nikolas gives him a genuine "thank you."

Ric has invited Claudia for a drink but shows up late. She asks why she's here and Ric says he can help her. He says that he thinks he can get her back into the Zacchara business. Claudia doesn't see how, but he tells her that he will be her conduit if she shares her "benefit of experience" with him. He promises that it would be a mutually beneficial arrangement and Claudia seems intrigued.

The mood at Sonny's house has lightened up a little as he tells her that she can be pretty convincing. He agrees to take her advice and says that he couldn't get through this without her. They exchange "I love yous" and kiss. Carly appears in the doorway and apologizes for interrupting. She says that she's having Michael transferred back to GH so they can begin the process of moving him to the long-term care facility.
