Carly refuses to believe that her son won't wake up, Kate fiercely protects her man and Sonny faces Carly head on.
Over at Kate's, Lulu answers the door and shows Sonny in. Kate excuses Lulu for the day and before she leaves, she tells Sonny that she's praying for Michael and that Johnny didn't do it. After she's gone, Sonny tells Kate that he can't see Michael without making it worse for Carly. Kate says that Carly was in pain last night when she lashed out, but Michael needs him now. Sonny sits down and recalls how great he and his son were together when he was a little boy. He recalls that the first time Michael called him "Dad" he thought his chest would explode with joy.
"You're wrong!" Carly tells Patrick outside of her son's hospital room. She tells Patrick that she knows Michael is getting better. She lays into "brilliant Dr. Drake" and tells him if he doesn't believe in her son, she'll find a doctor who does.
She and Jason go into Michael's room and Grandpa Mike arrives. Carly is glad to see him and asks him to talk to Michael. He asks where Sonny is and Carly says that she hasn't seen him. Mike leaves and Carly reminds Jason that no one thought he'd wake up after his accident either! She turns and tells Michael that she wants to redo the room so it feels more like home to him while he's here. Jason waits for her to finish and then says that he needs to go to Monica's rehab and talk to her about what's happened. Carly breaks down and says that her son is in this bed because of the choices she has made. Jason tells her that he is as responsible as she is.
"Since when do you serve tea to out-of-towners?" Luke asks Tracy as he walks into the Q study to find her with Claudia. Tracy confesses that she's trying to bribe Claudia out of his life and then reminds him that with the Zaccharas around others could end up like Michael! Lulu shows up and asks what's going on? Claudia rats on Tracy for trying to buy Johnny out of The Haunted Star. Lulu assures everyone that she told Sonny that Johnny had nothing to do with the shooting. Satisfied, Claudia leaves and Tracy tells Luke that Lulu will soon be mob road kill if he doesn't do something. Lulu and Luke argue over her choices and she storms out of the room.
Sonny and Kate sit on her sofa and talk. There's a knock on the door and Kate shows Mike in. He promptly goes into a tirade about Sonny not being at the hospital. Kate cuts him off and yells for Mike NOT to start talking about a father who lets down his son. "You don't want to go there!" she says and demands that he apologize to Sonny. She explains why Sonny is staying away and Mike calms down. He says that Michael needs to hear his dad's voice and tells Sonny not to make the same mistakes he did because he'll hate himself the rest of his life.
Nik and Nadine have gone into Wyndemere and are attempting to put together a train for Spencer's birthday. She asks for a Phillip's head and Nik has no idea what she's talking about. He beckons Alfred, who is busy breaking in the new chef. (Nadine clearly had no idea the extent of Prince Cassadine's life of luxury. She learns that he attended private schools and she decides to give him a crash course of everything he should've learned in high school.) Soon the train is together and they bring Spencer out to see it. Nik is clearly having fun and Emily appears to nod approvingly from the corner of the room. He quickly asks Nadine to leave and has the nanny come get Spencer. Nadine realizes that Nik sees Emily and promptly leaves.
Alexis and Diane show up at Jake's for "one drink," according to Alexis. Diane tells her that she's a mess and will thank her for this later. Diane and Coleman flirt a little as she orders something "sweet and sticky" and Alexis simply asks for a chardonnay. Diane tells Alexis that Coleman is a pure dose of testosterone and insists that Alexis admit that she has thought about him once or twice. "Twice," Alexis admits and then blurts out all of her fears about her girls ending up like poor Michael. She says that she slept with a dangerous man and had his baby so it's all her fault. After another drink, the women discuss their propensities for bad boys. Diane decides that they should get in touch with their inner rebel and go buy big, fat Harley's. They stand up to leave and run right into Patrick. The women sober up quickly and ask about Michael. He tells them that his version and Carly's is entirely different, but he has learned not to get between a mother and her instincts.
After Diane and Alexis leave, Patrick proceeds to have a few drinks. Then he drunk dials Robin and asks if she needs anything, like a father for her baby? She tells him that's not funny. Next he offers some ice cream and ribs and she thanks him, but declines. After they hang up, Claudia brings him over a drink. They end up talking about Robin's HIV pregnancy and Patrick does his best to explain Robin's point-of-view. He ends up telling her that they broke up and why and how it happened that they conceived a baby over a one-night stand and a broken condom. Claudia tells Patrick that he was set up! As Patrick denies that Robin would do anything like that, she shows up and puts a protective arm around him.
Monica returns to her room in rehab and is surprised to see Jason waiting for her. She tells him that she's taking it one day at a time. As she talks, she can tell that something is wrong so Jason comes right out and tells her what happened with Michael. She asks a few medical questions and promptly cradles her son in her arms and rocks back and forth.
Back at GH, Carly is talking to Michael when Sonny and Kate arrive. Carly says that Michael will want to hear his dad's voice but Kate shouldn't be here. Sonny tells Carly that he needs Kate with him and Carly decides to go stretch her legs. Kate urges Sonny to talk to his son. He does as she asks and promises Michael that he will never leave him. "You are the very best part of me," he says. Alexis and Detective Harper arrive with a few questions so they all step out of the room.
Sonny tells them that he saw a reflection, then a rifle and just reacted. He says that Kate was in front of him so he pushed her down. Having heard this, Carly calls him a bastard for protecting Kate instead of his own son.

Carly slaps Sonny and tells him that he is not Michael's father anymore.
