Carly sees red as Jax gets closer to Kate, Claudia is turned down by Jason and Lulu becomes excited about a challenge!
On the waterfront, Kate thanks Jax for investing in her dream. He says that he's very interested in her magazine (newly named "Crimson") and that he wants to work on it with her. Kate says that she does not want her chief investor involved in the day-to-day operations and that she runs the show. Then he tries his best to convince her to do her work from New York where she is away from Sonny, but she wants to operate out of Port Charles.
Still chatting at Carly's place, Lulu hears her cousin's plan for her to work for Kate. Lulu insists that she doesn't want anything to do with working for a shallow fashion magazine! Carly argues that it would be better than working at Kelly's, plus she can tell her when Kate starts hitting on her husband! Lulu says that she'd rather dig ditches. Just then Maxie arrives with Jax's gloves and announces that she is Kate's new assistant. She brags about her new job and how perfectly she is suited for it. She breezes out the door and Carly challenges Lulu to try to beat Maxie at her own game.
Alexis meets Jerry at the Metro Court bar and is all business until he admits that he came up with a legal rouse to get her there. She becomes flustered and says that he takes great joy in manipulating her attraction to him. She tries to take the words back, but they're out there for Jerry to hear. She calls him a homicidal maniac and he asks if that rules dinner out? Before she can answer, he gets a call and has to leave.
Trevor is facing two brothers at Sonny's office. He asks what's going and Ric says that he simply came to apologize to his brother for all of the mistakes he's made over the years. Sonny yells that Trevor bought the property that the Zaccharas promised not to touch and therefore broke the truce. He suggests that Trevor should sleep with one eye open. Trevor assures him that he has no plans for the piers right away anyway, so the truce should hold. After Trevor leaves, Ric asks, "What now?" Sonny tells him that he doesn't work with people he doesn't trust. Ric knows when to quit, so he starts to leave, but pauses to ask if Sonny meant what he said when he stood up to Trevor on his behalf? Sonny says that he can never forget what Ric did to his family, but no father should do to his son what Trevor did to him. Ric nods and says he's got to get rid of his father even if he has to do it alone.
"If you want Trevor Lansing dead, kill him yourself," is the kind of conversation going on at Jason's penthouse. Jason refuses to help Claudia no matter what tactic she tries. Patrick shows up with some test results for Jason and Claudia sees herself out. On her way, she glares at Patrick as she tells Jason not to let some of the docs at GH touch him and then says that she didn't realize Jason couldn't work anymore because his hands are crippled. (Ouch, double whammy.) With Claudia finally gone, Jason turns his attention to Patrick. He learns that he needs follow-up surgery as soon as possible or he'll have permanent nerve damage in both hands.
At Shady Brook, Johnny listens to a promising diagnosis about his father-it turns out that a dopamine psychosis started years ago and can be reversed.
Jason goes to Sonny's office and reports about Claudia's job offer to take Trevor out. Sonny says that Claudia has had a busy day! He tells Jason about his run-in with her at Kate's and how Claudia admitted that she seduced him. As they discuss how to proceed, Sonny suggests that if the Zaccharas are so busy fighting with each other, it could be an effective strategy for them. He uses this comment as a segue into what's been going on lately between himself and Jason. Sonny says that he values Jason's opinion, but he can't give the orders any more. Jason says that he learned the business from Sonny and respects his authority, but sometimes has to speak up when he sees him about to make a mistake. Sonny tells Jason that he needs to go get his hands fixed so he can come back to work soon. He adds," This thing with Elizabeth and your kid has got you very distracted." He tells Jason to figure out how to deal with it or it could cost him.
Claudia meets Dr. Devlin on the waterfront and says that Sonny is in their way. Jerry shows up and Dr. Devlin introduces him as his partner. Claudia says that she doesn't work with strangers. "If Sonny Corinthos is to die, Jerry is the perfect man to kill him," Ian tells her. Claudia tells Jerry that it can't be traced back to her family in any way or a mob war will break out. After she leaves, Jerry tells Ian never to make plans for him without his knowledge. He says that he will not kill Sonny because he is the father of his brother's step children and that nothing is worth losing a brother. He suggests that Ian pull the trigger himself.
Ric pays Anthony a visit and is promptly recognized by the old man as Trevor's son. Ric reminds him that he's also the guy he skewered at the black & white ball. Anthony doesn't recall any such thing (of course!). Ric tells Anthony that he's come to help him and explains that legally he can't be held against his will if it can be proved that he is no longer clinically insane. Anthony is excited, but can't understand why Ric would help him. "For a price," Ric explains.
Kate and Jax return to her house and Maxie gives Kate her messages. Kate takes a call (on speaker phone) from a potential ad buyer who says they are about to pull out their advertising and go with Couture instead. Against Kate's wishes, Jax speaks up about the legal liabilities of backing out of their agreement. Kate passes Jax a note that says, "Keep playing bad cop" and they eventually hammer out a deal. (Maxie even chimes in with a competitive designer name for Jax to throw around.)
Back at Carly's place, it's clear that Maxie has gotten under Lulu's skin as Carly continues to try to convince Lulu work to for Kate. Their conversation is interrupted when Johnny shows up at Carly's door. He has come to check on Michael and Carly thanks him for pulling her son out of the cannery. Lulu tries to sink into the background as Johnny tells Carly to make sure that Michael doesn't follow his father's footsteps. After he leaves Carly tells Lulu that he has it bad for her. Then she calls Jax and is incensed when Maxie answers his phone! She and Lulu decide that it's time for Kate to have a new and improved assistant. They go marching over to Kate's house and arrive just as Kate and Jax are enjoying a celebratory hug. Carly tells Kate that as long as her husband is paying the bills Lulu will be her assistant!
