Lulu has a nightmare that she will lose her mind just like her mother did. Colleen conspires against Emily. Luke bids a tearful goodbye to his daughter…and Laura.

Lulu wakes up to the sound of an infant crying, but we can quickly tell that what we are watching is her dream. In it, Lulu follows the sound of the crying to see that there's a baby crib turned on its side. She looks frantically for "her baby" and stumbles out into a hallway. Lulu finds herself in front of her mother's hospital door and she walks in. Except the woman with the long blonde hair in the chair isn't Laura at all, it's Lulu herself!
At the hospital, Patrick and Robin are discussing the new procedure for Laura with Luke. Patrick states, "There's not a chance that this treatment will bring Laura back." Robin tells Luke that Dr. Drake is a surgeon and as such, he won't acknowledge that a patient can be helped without surgery. Patrick reminds Luke that Laura's condition was brought on by stress, and if she's brought out of her catatonic state she would still have to deal with the old demons. She could get worse, he warns. Luke wants to know the best case scenario -- if she comes back -- could she stay back -- the way she was? Robin can't make any promises. Luke won't agree to another "round of bead rattling" until he goes to Paris to meet the doctor.
Carly and Jax are at the hospital waiting for news about Alexis. Carly tries to get Jax to take a break and go somewhere with her for a little while. She says it's really important and that it's "about us".
Lulu looks at a picture of her mother. (We see our first glimpse of Laura's sweet face!) Frightened by her nightmare that she could end up in a mental hospital just like her mother, she starts to cut her long blonde locks that mirror Laura's. Dillon comes to her room and offers to drive her to classes. She declines. Dillon tells Lulu to stop moping around, pick a dream and go for it. He warns that she may as well have had the baby if she's going to just stay in the room and not get on with her life. Lulu tells him that her life isn't his concern anymore.
At Windamere, Colleen tells Nicolas about a former beau of hers, named Carl, who had a drinking problem. She tells Nicolas that she confronted her love and tried to take the bottle away and he hit her. She tells Nicolas that she went on to stage an intervention. She's tells Nicolas not to give up on his brother. Emily shows up and Colleen is visibly annoyed.
Luke is back at the Q's and asks Tracy to take care of Lulu while he's gone. She says, "The hell you're leaving again!" He says, "Careful Mommy, you're starting to sound like a nag."
At the waterfront, Michael, Morgan and Carly tell Jax that his new boat needs some barnacles. They need to go out sailing, of course. Carly tells him the conditions are good and by the time they get back, maybe Alexis's test results will be in. So Jax squats down and teaches Michael how to tie some sailing knots.
Nicolas tells Emily (and lurking Colleen) that he's called a rehab clinic for Lucky behind his back. Even though no one has seen Lucky yet today, Nicolas says an intervention might just be the thing. Emily tells the story of when her dad (Alan) was addicted to hydrocodone, he had to bottom out before he accepted help. Nicolas and Emily end up arguing over the right course of action for Lucky. Just after they leave the room (and Emily's purse), her hospital beeper goes off. Colleen smirks that "she'll never know because she wasn't here to hear it."
Dillon is at the lake house crying when Georgie finds him. He tries to control himself, but she tells him, "You just lost a baby, it's okay to be angry and upset." The more she talks, the harder he cries. Georgie holds him and says that he has to grieve for the baby he'll never meet.
Tracy tells Luke that she and Lulu are very similar. They both have fathers that they adore and can't seem to hold their attention. He tells her that he's leaving anyway. She tells him that she thought he came back to help his daughter, but Luke tells Tracy that "the mission has taken a turn." Lulu enters the room and asks "You're leaving?"
The happy sailors return to the waterfront and Jax promises to take Carly and the boys to the Caribbean some time, Carly seems to freak out a little and quickly ushers the boys away with a quick goodbye.
Lulu and Luke talk in the Q study and Luke doesn't blame Lulu if she hates him. He says he's a selfish bastard and that even though her mother tried to get him to be a homebody, he just couldn't do it. Lulu tells him that he was there when she needed him, and that's enough. Luke sadly concedes that it isn't even close (to being enough). He tells her that he's very proud of the way she handled her herself during her pregnancy. He tells her that he's leaving to do something important and that he loves her. Lulu tells him that he doesn't need her permission. She goes on to say that all her life she has dreamt about her dad rescuing her and that this time, he did. They hug and he's on his way. For the first time ever, he promises to keep in touch.
Dillon is embarrassed that he broke down and cried on Georgie's shoulder. He tells her that he doesn't "get" Lulu and George asked him if he thought Lulu would hop out of bed as if the last couple of weeks didn't happen? They finally lighten up a little and Dillon is been able to get Georgie to tell him what's been going on with her for a change. They are laughing and talking about college and the new professor when Lulu comes in and tells them that if they make one mistake, their life is over. "Now I'm just the girl who had an abortion," she announces.
Emily and Nicolas are discussing the Lulu/Dillon situation. She tells Nicolas that Dillon never had much of a life with his own father and perhaps that's why he was eager for Lulu to have their baby. They also talk about Lucky and how they won't stop until they get him into drug rehab - since Luke isn't sticking around to help either of his kids, without Laura's influence to do the right thing. Monica calls for Emily and Nicolas warns that she doesn't sound very happy. Behind the door, Colleen gives an evil little smile. Emily gets on the phone and Monica scolds her for ignoring her pager. Emily says she never heard the pager! Monica sternly tells her intern daughter that there's been a bus accident and she is needed in the ER. Emily looks into her purse and sees that her pager has been turned off…She has a pretty good idea who turned it off, and she stalks off to the launch to get to the hospital.
Back at Carly's house, Jax enters and asks why she acted so weirdly after they went sailing. She admits that it's one thing that she is risking her heart on Jax, but it's completely unfair to let her boys get attached, too. Why? "Because it can never last…" She explains that they never know when he's going to pick up and leave again.
Luke has stopped by Laura's room before he leaves to see the "Parisian potion pusher". He promises Laura that if he turns out to be a quack, he won't let the doctor touch her. He talks to Laura about the demons that are devouring her and that, sadly, his memories of her are fading. He's afraid, however, to have her come back just to say goodbye again. He tells her that if she comes back, he wants her to fight to stay with him. If she can't do that, he says that he needs her to set him free.
