Zacchara is moved to a loony bin, Lucky resurfaces to a world without his best friend and Luke gets the news he didn't want to hear.

Lucky arrives in Luke's room and hears the awful news that Emily has died. He is devastated and hopes that it's not true and only a figment of his dad's medical statues. When Luke says that Emily was strangled by Anthony Zaccahra, Lucky throws a cart across the room. Tracy tells him to calm down or he'll give his father another heart attack. She reminds him that Luke had "multiple coronaries, angioplasty and is awaiting a heart bypass." Luke is short of breath as he says that he isn't awaiting anything. Lucky explains that he hadn't heard about Emily and apologizes for the commotion. Luke tells Tracy that he doesn't appreciate being lied to about his son being missing! Lucky says that he was just thinking things through for a while, and then tells his father to rest.

Lulu carries her suitcases down the stairs at Jason's penthouse. She says that her dad nearly died, Lucky is in a freefall over losing Jake and Nikolas lost the love of his life. Spinelli sadly says that he's not surprised that she would want to go be with them.

Detective Harper is at Carly's house questioning her about the attempt on her life at the ball. He says that autopsy results on Emily show that she was strangled and it's possible that the same person who tried to strangle her could have killed Emily. Carly says that Anthony Zaccahara couldn't have been the person behind her because at the same time, he was upstairs terrorizing Jason and Elizabeth. "So you're telling me that there were two killers out there?" Detective Harper asks.

Jason is at Sonny's bedside at the hospital. He's explaining the fight he had with Nikolas out at Wyndemere. He says that he and Emily tied Nikolas up for his own good, but somehow he got loose. The more Sonny hears, the more he thinks that it was Zacchara who killed Emily - because he hates women. Jason says that he can't stop thinking about how afraid his sister must have been. Sonny tries to get back to business by asking if he has any idea how the Zacchara front is handling the current situation. Jason hasn't heard anything, and then asks what he should do about Trevor? Sonny says that he should just concentrate on his sister right now because if he goes back to work too soon, he'll get himself killed. Jason says that he needs to find out who killed her and Sonny says that time is all that will help. Jason's eyes are brimming with tears and Kate comes busting into the door and stops in her tracks. She apologizes and expresses her sympathy to him. Jason thanks her and excuses himself to go talk to Bernie.

As Lucky is leaving the hospital, Liz sees him and gently tries to tell him about Emily. His anger spews from his mouth as he says that maybe he could've saved Emily if he wasn't reeling from being lied to by his wife. Liz calmly says that she doesn't want to get into this right now. Lucky turns and leaves, and Jason has seen the whole exchange.

Kate is sitting with Sonny, actually kissing him, when Carly comes for a visit. Carly tells Kate to practice her community service bedside manner on the rest of the patients so she and Sonny can discuss family matters. Sonny tells Carly to just accept Kate into his life already. Carly replies that Kate should accept her, and then says that she thinks the boys should hear about Emily from both of their parents.

Trevor goes into Anthony's hospital room and finds Johnny there. Patrick comes in with a report on Anthony's test results. He doesn't want to speak in front of Trevor, but Johnny says it's okay. So, Patrick reports that Anthony is paralyzed from the neck down. Then, a team of medics come to move him to a facility for the criminally insane. Suddenly AZ speaks, "I'm paralyzed, not comatose. Let me speak to my son." Johnny orders everyone out of the room. Anthony says, "Secure your position and kill Trevor before he kills you." Johnny simply says goodbye and orders the medics to take his father away.

Sam has just spent some time at Wyndemere with Nikolas and now she's on the waterfront on her way home. She runs into Lucky and tells him how sorry she is about Emily. Lucky says that he knew Emily way before he knew Nikolas or Elizabeth. He says that they were best friends as kids…(he can't finish his sentence.) Sam assures him that he is not responsible for Emily's death -- it was the monster Zacchara. Lucky goes from one heartbreak to another: he talks about the fact that Jake is Jason's son, not his. Sam tells him that he just lost his best friend, he lost his family, and he doesn't have to lose Jake, too.

Jason goes to Wyndemere and finds Nikolas dozing in a chair. He tells Nikolas to start from the beginning and tell him about the night Emily died. Nikolas cooperates completely. He says that Emily agreed to marry him and neither of them knew how much time they would have time left together. Jason isn't interested in any of this; he wants to know what happened in that ballroom when his sister died. Nik gets defensive and asks what Jason doesn't understand about the word "blackout"? He reminds Jason that he begged him to protect Emily from him, but somehow she ended up alone. He tells Jason to say these words, "Emily would still be alive if I had stayed with her." This time, it's Jason who cooperates. He says, "My sister would still be alive if I'd stayed with her." Nik agrees. He points out that instead, Jason left her and he ended up killing her. He tells Jason to go ahead and kill him. Jason calms down and asks Nik what he remembers. Nik says that he knew he was getting worse, but wouldn't cancel the ball as Emily wished. He says that he may not have been the one who strangled her, but he may as well have. Jason isn't interested in Nik's guilt, he just wants to hear what happened. Nik days, "It doesn't matter, you failed her when she was alive the same way I did." Jason's eyes go to the doorway where Detective Harper has just appeared. Jason leaves so that Nikolas can talk to the Detective. Nik only offers that he truly doesn't remember a thing.

Monica shows up for work and everyone around the nurses' desk expresses their condolences. Tracy finds her and kindly tells her that she shouldn't try to work right now. Monica says that she is managing her grief through her work, and Tracy says, "Grief can't be managed, it has to be endured." Monica gets angry at her and heads for Luke's room to talk about his surgery. Luke gently expresses his sympathy and Monica only wants to talk about his health. She tells him that his heart is a mess and if he doesn't get a quadruple bypass, he will likely die. Later, Luke finds himself alone, finally, and he detangles himself from all of the equipment and tries to leave. Once he makes it to his feet, Tracy comes in and tells him to get in bed if he ever loved her even a little bit.

Jason goes to Liz's house to talk. Jason thinks it's a nice house and Liz tells him that Em found it for her. Jason explains that he was with Monica, and then rode his bike through the night. He says that he went to Queen of Angels and tried to remember every day that he had with Emily. He says he can't forget how it felt to pick her up and look into her lifeless body. Liz tells him that Em would want him to try to remember her with love, but move on and live his life to the fullest. When Jason says he doesn't know how, Liz offers to bring Jake downstairs. Jason agrees and soon his little boy is in his arms. Jason tells Jake that his Aunt Emily loves him. Not two minutes later, Lucky comes in and sees Jason holding Jake. Before he can react, Cam comes running into Lucky's arms. Jason hands Jake over to Liz and says goodbye. Lucky dismisses him and tells Jake that he missed both of his boys.

Sonny has been discharged. He and Carly go back to Carly's house to talk to the boys. Michael says that he knew something was wrong. Sonny says that some bad men hurt people at the ball, including himself, and unfortunately Emily died. Michael is shocked and Morgan sits quietly on Carly's lap. Michael asks if it's the same man who killed Leticia, if so, why didn't Sonny kill him?
Nik has dozed back to sleep and is dreaming of the beautiful waltz with Emily. In the dream, he starts to watch himself choke Emily with a wire in the middle of their dance.
