She jumps in front of the bullet meant for Patrick, Luke's kids rally around him, and Nik goes up against Stone Cold.
"2 hours earlier. 3 a.m."
Robin's voice says, "Love is messy. Complicated. And just when you're sure it's over -love saves your life." Robin and Patrick stare at Leyla as AZ orders her to choose who he will shoot. Leyla (as Maria) tries to talk "her husband" into changing his mind. He tells her that they'll both die if she doesn't choose, so she painfully tells him to shoot Patrick. Robin protests and AZ only comments that it's always the man who loses. As he aims his gun, Leyla rushes in front of Patrick and takes the shot for him.
Sam is apologizing profusely to Lucky for keeping her mouth shut about Jake. Lucky asks why it's fine with her to keep a little boy in the middle of a huge lie. Before Sam can respond, Nikolas enters the room and asks what is going on. He admits that he doesn't know where Emily is and yells at Lucky when he criticizes him for losing track of her on such a dangerous night.
Liz and Jason are in the barn talking about what just happened. Liz feels as if she's poisoned everybody's life with her lie. Jason said that the lie was his too. "Sometimes I think I've loved you from the very first time you saved me in that bar," Liz says as she turns to face him. Jason remembers how sad and angry -- and beautiful she was that night. "I had no idea that someday I'd be in love with you, or that you'd be the mother of my child," he gently says as he cradles Liz in his arms. Jason says that now that Jake's paternity is out in the open it changes everything. Liz asks where they should go from here and he tells her that it's her decision.
Jerry and Carly are out in the storm and he tries to impress upon her how certain he is that Jax drowned in the harbor. Carly says that she would feel it if her husband were gone. Jerry collapses in pain and as Carly tries to help him up, a goon shows up and tells them to face the wall. Still crouched together on the crowd, Carly eyeballs Jerry's gun and realizes that he wants her to duck. She does, and Jerry kills the goon. Afterward, Jerry wants Carly to take the gun and go join the others. She won't leave him alone and in pain because Jax will never forgive her.
As Sonny sits with Kate, he tries to regain his strength from the transfusion. He says that he's sorry that he finally told her that he loved her in the middle of a fight with his ex wife. Kate tells him that he'd better not take it back! She says that leaving him all those years ago wasn't her proudest moment. She says that she is grateful for their teenage romance because it's why she gave them a chance now. She says that (this relationship) is familiar and right and she feels like she can say anything to him. "I had given up on the possibility of love…you changed that. I'm very, very happy to hear that you love me because I love you, too." Very much, in fact she says as she moves in for a kiss.
Logan and Scott are worried that Luke doesn't look great. Tracy is holding Luke's hand and telling him to take a nap. He says that's kind of hard to do with a lunatic in the house. Emily comes in to check on Luke, but she'd clearly rather be checking in on Nik. Em lamely takes his pulse and says that he should keep still - and then leaves. Nik, Sam and Lucky come in looking for Emily and Lucky can tell that Luke isn't well. Tracy tells him about the heart attack and Logan asks Sam if she knows where Lulu is. Sam tells him that she's in the barn, so he takes off. Lucky wants to get Patrick to take care of Luke, but Luke tells him to "lose the fear, son." Lucky sits with Luke and tries to comfort him. Luke says that he has a lot of reasons to hang onto this life. (The best part of this scenario? Luke has his hand lovingly resting on Lucky's.)
Spinelli busts into the barn to join Liz and Jason -- with Lulu and Nadine behind him. Lulu still wants to lure AZ out from hiding, but Liz agrees with Spinelli that there are plenty of heroes on the island and Lulu shouldn't risk her life. Johnny knocks at the door and Jason lets him in. Jason decides to go with Johnny and makes Spinelli give Liz the gun. They are all to stay in the barn and Lulu isn't happy about it. Nadine tells Lulu to stop making everyone worry about her so they can focus on getting them help. Lulu asks who the heck Nadine thinks she is? As things between the two women get heated, there's a knock at the door. It's Logan. He comes in and tells Lulu that her father has had a heart attack and she needs to come with him. After they have left, Liz asks for a moment alone with Spinelli and then tells him that Jason told Lucky the truth about Jake. She says that she wanted Spinelli to know, in case Jason needs anything. Spinelli advises her to speak up if she wants to raise Jake together. She says that the last thing she wants to do is let Jason hope for a future that she won't be able to give him.
Leyla is on the ground and AZ asks her how many times he has to kill her. Patrick goes nuts and takes him down. Finally AZ wrestles free and takes off. Robin is checking Leyla's wound and Patrick comes to check it out. He tells her that she's crazy, but she's going to be fine. He says that they'll clean the wound, keep pressure on it and that should do for now. As Robin watches on, she has a premonition about dancing a beautiful waltz with Patrick, only when he dips her, there's blood dripping out from her mouth.
Logan brings Lulu to Luke's room and Luke quickly assures her that he'll be okay. Lucky tells Sam that he's going to see if he can help anyone and Sam tells him that he needs back up. After they leave, Luke has a hard time catching his breath, but says all he needs is a big tumbler of scotch. Tracy orders Scott to go find some booze, so he and Logan leave. Lulu thanks Logan for bringing her to her father.
Leyla is feeling drowsy and Patrick asks Robin to keep pressure on the wound. Robin thanks her for trying to control Zacchara tonight, and for being so brave. Leyla says that she knows Robin wants Patrick back, but she wants him too. "But not if he wants to be with you," she says weakly. Robin tells Leyla that her relationship with Patrick is none of her business and she was wrong to make her a target of her anger when she first broke up with Patrick. "I know that you didn't steal Patrick from me in any way," Robin chokes through her tears. She says that they have different life goals and that she's learning to move on. Patrick is pained as he looks on. Leyla falls asleep, and since her pulse is strong they agree that she can sleep. Patrick tells Robin that her speech to Leyla was very generous. Robin says that they need to let each other go. Patrick tells her that he hasn't stopped loving her and Robin smiles, "me, too."
Upon Carly's insistence, Jerry tells Carly what the launch trip was like for him and Jax. He says the waves were straight out of a horror film. After they managed to get Alexis to shore, they asked the paramedics to send help, but they had their hands full in town. He says that nearly as soon as they headed back toward Spoon Island, the boat was engulfed with water and they were dumped. "Somehow I managed to surface, but Jax didn't" Jerry says through his pain. He says that he dove under the waves over and over, but there was no trace of him. He explains that Jax was more than his brother; he was his best friend - the only person in the world that he loved and trusted. He wishes that he would've drowned instead. Carly is furious that Jerry wouldn't stop Jax from making the return trip. Jerry says that it was worth risking their lives to get back -- to her.
Tracy tells Luke that his days of leaving unhealthy are over. She tells him that she's going to have Monica run every test and he is going to give up alcohol and cigars. Luke tells her that he'll trade her in on a younger model if she's not careful. She laughs and says that his heart couldn't take it. He tells her that they are a good match and that he makes her…almost happy. He promises that if she doesn't hover and turn into a diet-monitoring pain in the ass, he won't die on her. She agrees to his terms.
Lulu somehow managed to end up alone in the courtyard. She's yelling for AZ to come get her and leave everyone else before. It doesn't take long. When he surfaces, Lulu says, "Hello freak." AZ says that it was fun watching her father die of being scared to death. Johnny comes up from behind and demands that AZ leave Lulu alone. AZ tells Johnny that Lulu needs to die by his hand…or maybe Johnny's! Then he decides that Johnny's hand would be better. He turns Johnny around to face Lulu and orders him to do it.
Em is wandering the halls looking for Nik, who is wandering the halls looking for her. Instead, Jason finds her. She quickly tells him that Nik's blackouts are getting worse, so she locked him in the wine cellar, only now he's gone! Jason wants to take her to the stables, but Em won't leave without Nikolas. Jason tells her how dangerous it is for her in this house and Em jerks her arm away from him. Nik jumps up behind Jason and takes him down as Emily shrieks for him to stop.
