Stunned, Carly promises that their father will be at the play.
Still looking at Spinelli's laptop at Kelly's, Dillon tells Georgie that classic murder mysteries always reveal that close family and friends shed the light on "motive". They go over the case again to see who else might have been involved. Soon Spinelli is able to crack the PCPD code and look into Rick Webber's autopsy file. Dillon and Spinelli see something that they don't think Lulu should see in the photos. Lulu says she knows it's probably gross; after all, he died of a blow to the head. Lulu tells Dillon that she's not going to go nuts like her mom; she wants to see the picture. Dillon doesn't want her to have the gory image in her head forever. She looks at the computer screen anyway.
Lucky tells Ric that he is on to him. Lucky is to go after Jason no matter how his wife reacts. He challenges Ric to make up his mind; should Elizabeth be stressed out during this pregnancy, or should he go after Jason no matter what? Ric says that he is the only thing standing between Lucky and the unemployment line. Jason needs to be convicted; and Lucky is the obvious choice to bring him down because Jason might cut him some slack in deference to his "friend" Elizabeth. Just do it is basically the message Ric leaves Lucky with. Lucky goes to Cruse and says that he needs some help or else he'll lose his job.
Nikolas brings Emily coffee at the hospital and she jokingly asks him if he's there for anti-anxiety medication given his reaction to the Santa visit yesterday. Perhaps some tranquilizers, she jokes. Nikolas scoffs a little, but says that he wants her to spend every Christmas with him and his son, Santa or not. Although he is a bit worried about depositing his son in a manger to be cared for by grade school children (at the pageant.) Nikolas wants Emily to promise she can make it to the pageant rehearsal tonight. Emily assures him that Carly will be there; but she can try to make it, too. She tells him that he should go check on Spencer and make sure his snow suit is warm enough. By then she'll be ready to leave work to meet them.
Carly has gone over to Sonny's place and learns from Max that the private plane just left with Sonny onboard. She interrogates Max in order to learn why he left so suddenly. Max tries to be tight-lipped, but she's able to get one tidbit out of him—Sonny will not be taking any calls except from Jason.

Alexis and Sam are at home, talking about Sam's case. "Ric has a strong case against you." Alexis suggests that Sam needs to admit to the jury that she and Ric had sex. Just then Jason comes over and Sam runs into his arms. Alexis tells Jason that she's glad he's alright. He explains that the charges against him have been dropped. He also tells them that his new lawyer, Diane Miller, thinks there's sufficient evidence to prove that Sam acted in self-defense. Alexis can't help but to gasp and say that Diane Miller is immoral…but she wisely closes her mouth. Jason tells Alexis if she's too overwhelmed by fighting the cancer and her problems with Kristina, Diana could take Sam's case off her hands. Alexis says it's up to Sam, who chooses to stay with her mother. Jason turns to hold Sam in his arms again and says, "Meanwhile, there's no reason why we need to stay away from each other."
Lulu has brought Spinelli and Dillon to the attic at Mac Scorpio's house where Rick was killed. They start to look for clues. Spinelli checks the facts of the case in the computers so that they can try to put the pieces together and re-enact the murder scene. Lulu stands were Laura stood and Dillon comes in the door as Rick must have. Before Dillon goes out and comes back in, he smiles and says, "Action!" After the first drill, they realize that Rick's back was against the door and his injury was to the back of the head. What if Laura flipped out NOT because she hit him, but because she saw who did?

Alexis has called Ric to come over and he responds quickly because he assumes it's about planning the holidays for the girls. Alexis, however, wants to talk about Sam's case. She tells Ric that she knows he set Sam and Jason up to get killed. She tells him to seek therapy AND drop the charges. Or, he'll have to talk to Molly from prison soon, because he's the one who will end up there. Ric tells Alexis that Sam murdered Diego, and has since fled custody. He can't drop the charges. Alexis contends that he just wants to fight her for having the guts to call him on sleeping with her daughter. Ric says he can't wait until the jury realizes they are in court only because the older mother is jealous of her oversexed daughter.
Back in the attic Spinelli says it was a blow to the temple, not the back of the head that killed Rick Webber. So, Lulu suggests that if Rick turned around to see who was coming in the door, that's how he could have received the whack on the temple. They decided to keep going through different scenarios. Dillon comes through the door again, pretending to have a needle in his hand. Lulu demonstrates how Laura would have defended herself, and Dillon realizes that Rick would've been able to block her. They decide to try again, only this time they are going to add real-time speed. As they go through the probable motions of the murder again, Lulu stumbles and falls into Dillon's arms just as Georgie walks in the door of the attic.
Lucky and Maxi walk into Kelly's to talk for awhile about the baby. (Lucky has called her and initiated the talk.) Mike takes their order and tells Lucky that he's glad to hear how well his is doing. After Mike leaves, Lucky starts his schpeel. He tells Maxi that she's young and will want to go to parties, have dates, etc. He tells her that the baby needs two parents and it can't be them. Maxi gets furious when she realizes that he's talking about adoption. She tells Lucky that they can't throw away their child because it's not convenient for him. She can't imagine letting strangers raise her child. Lucky suggests an open adoption because they could handpick the parents themselves. Maxi suggests the perhaps it's Liz who should give her baby up for adoption.

Carly races home to get her things so that she can go after Sonny. Jax is there and can't believe that she is seriously considering the trip. Jax says that they should respect Sonny's wishes, he did the right thing after all—he got out of the way. Carly says she needs to bring him back to Port Charles for his children. AND, to make sure he's okay. What if he goes off his meds? Jax tells her that Sonny is counting on her to run down there and try to fix it. It's their pattern. He wants Carly to finally break the pattern. Carly says she's not being manipulated, she cares about her family and that includes Sonny. Jax tells her if she gets on that plane, they are not getting married.

Jason and Sam go back to his place. As soon as they get in the door, they hear a siren in the distance and Sam says for the first time in a long time she knows the cops aren't coming for them! She tells him that it's nice to be home. Jason asks if it still feels like her home. He reminds her that the last time they spoke about their relationship; she wanted to stand on her own two feet for a while. She says that they have survived a lot since then. She has a lot to figure out in her life, especially about her mother. But as for the two of them, if only they could put each of their one-night stands out of their minds, they would be fine. Jason tells her that he wants to move forward. He trusts her and wants her to trust him. She tells him that she does, but even more, she loves him. He reciprocates.
