Jax gets protective. (Soaps.com)
GH Rundown For August 10 - 14!

Why, oh why do they have to go to the worst-case scenarios with Jerry? Did he really send in a guy to basically rape Sam? Those kinds of evil machinations are not something I particularly want to watch on my soaps. Thankfully Sam somehow freed herself and I assume we will find out how this week, at least I hope we do. I just hope the situation wasn’t what we all assumed.

Kate’s back, but nothing has been resolved about why she was giving into blackmail and handing over secrets of her magazine. What is being held over her head? Do Spinelli, Maxie and Lulu still even care? Do the viewers even care? Actually, I care, but only because I hate when they leave things like that hanging.

I specifically looked to see if exes Johnny and Lulu would acknowledge each other in some way when they converged at Jason’s with Kate, Spinelli and Maxie and I was not disappointed. When Johnny walked by her to leave, they exchanged awkward glances. A big deal doesn’t have to be made over it, I just appreciate when they remember that characters have a history together. Sometimes, subtly is more effective anyway.

Jax getting tough with Dominic and protecting his family was pretty great I thought. Good for him for telling Dominic to stay away, because as far as he knows, Dominic is just another of Sonny’s thugs. Although, to be fair, Max and Milo hang around and really aren't very dangerous, but I totally see Jax’s point and liked that he was standing up for Carly and Morgan.

Speaking of which, I adored the scenes between Dominic/Dante and Morgan. Dominic/Dante really shows his soft side with the little guy, who is just adorable, and I can’t wait for them to learn they are related so we can watch Dante be the protective, wise older brother.

Turning to the dark side? (Soaps.com)
While I’m still on the subject, I really enjoy Morgan and Molly because they are respectful of adults and don’t talk back. So many kids on soaps are so obnoxious, rude and just plain annoying. I know not all children are well behaved in the real world, but I hate when kids on soaps best the adults and don’t at least show a little fear for their authority. It’s refreshing when two nice, smart kids love their parents and don’t act out.

Back to Dominic/Dante, I was mortified for him that his mother called his boss to have him taken off the Corinthos case. Not that I don’t understand why Olivia would be worried for her child, but he is an adult, not a little kid who needs his mommy to protect him. Besides, it seems like she is just as worried about Dante busting her two lovers, Johnny and Sonny, as she is about his own safety. Also, it’s kind of hypocritical of her that she doesn’t want Dante to know Sonny is his father because of the dangerous life he leads, but she has no qualms about sleeping with/dating a mobster. Um, okay.

I don’t have a whole lot to add about Dante himself that I haven’t already said in previous blogs, so I’ll just reiterate that I am totally loving his character. I’ll spare you any further gushing.

I’m so happy Nikolas finally learned the truth about Rebecca and I really do hope this completely puts an end to them as a couple. I also love it because the video clip preview indicates that Nikolas’ dark side will come out. He is a Cassadine and was raised by them after all, so it really shouldn’t be too much of a stretch to believe that he’s got a little bit of an evil streak in him. After years of watching him be the sensitive good guy, I can’t wait to see a more sinister Nikolas.

That’s all I got for this week. What did you guys think? Feel free to agree or disagree with me about all the GH happenings!

Hi Lori,

I agree that the scene where Jerry has sold Sam was distasteful to me. I was going to post excerpts from Sam's How to Guide to Being Held Hostage by Jerry Jacks but couldn't bring myself to do it.

Jerry ironically spoke for many of us by pointing out that Michael's shooting was an accident and that the person who shot him already paid with his life.

Jerry does get the better of Jason and I wonder how that will affect the development of his character. Will he finally be able to tell Alexis, Sonny and Carly to go find your kids yourself next time.

I think Morgan and Molly are just adorable and I do like that they are well mannered children who haven't become teenagers yet.

I like Dante and hope that TPTB use this character to change the direction of the show. By having Dante suceed in taking Sonny down, maybe the police can start being the good guys again.

Don't care much for the Nicholas/Rebecca pairing. I liked Nadine (as originally written) and thought she brought out a different side to Nicholas. I don't care much for Liz as a potential love interest but if they were to develop another character, I think they should combine the qualities of Liz, Gia (my favorite pairing with Nicholas) and Nadine.

I hope they find some use for Kate. She has been on the backburner for too long since Sonny married Claudia and deserves a story of her own.

As for Olivia, she was out of line regarding Dante's job. She has witnessed first hand what Sonny is capable of doing and should applaud his efforts to take him down. Dante's convictions seem so strong (which I like about this character) that even if he were to learn Sonny is his father, that wouldn't change his mind about taking him down.

Ha! Sam's Guide to Being Held Hostage by Jerry - love it! She really does have a lot of experience in that area and not only with Jerry!

Well, I think Jax is a big old hypocrite. He continues to berate Sonny, when his brother is far worse than Sonny will ever be. Jerry hurts, maims and kills people just for the thrill of it. How Jax could bring himself to help Jerry get away with the Metro Court hostage thing and continue to think he's such a law abiding citizen is beyond me. In the end, his hatred of Sonny is what guides a lot of his decisions about Sonny's children.

Glad you liked that one Lori.

This will be about the third time Sam has been taken prisoner by Jerry.
