I see remorse! (Soaps.com)
Julie's General Blogspittle
(Week of April 20 - 25)

That was it? Here one minute and gone the next? So much for the triumphant return of Helena Cassadine to stir the lukewarm cauldron that is Port Charles. It's as if the writers went down their check list of trademark Helena scenes and then whisked her out of town again.

1. Big entrance? Check.
2. Attempt to put the fear of God into anyone in Nik's orbit? Check.
3. Get precariously close to kissing Luke whilst posing a threat? Check.
4. Mysterious exit? Check.

Every time I see a trailer for a Julia Roberts film I take note that the editors include a scene with her trademark giggle outburst. It's as if the viewers wouldn't recognize a Julia Roberts movie if they didn't provide a reminder of her as the 'pretty woman' wearing evening gloves reaching for her first taste of snail. I felt the same last week during our highly anticipated Helena visit. Let's hope we get a bit more substance when Holly comes to town, eh?

As for Jerry's return, he at least showed a slightly different side of himself this time around. Granted the cad doesn't do remorse, as Jax pointed out, but I saw some, did you? Or maybe I just like Sebastian Roche so much that I wanted to.

I was happy to see so much of Dr. Kelly Lee last week. I would imagine that, as an actor on recurring status, Minae Noji is thrilled that two of soap's most front-burnered characters are pregnant now. Maybe she'll actually get a storyline of her own one day. Oh, I just thought of something. With all of the drama involved Carly's pregnancy maybe she and Jason will have a few meetings and sparks will fly? I know, I know, it'll never happen but a girl can dream, eh? I want some new couplings!

Ethan nailed it. (Soaps.com)
Hold on Emma! The foreshadowing of the staircase fiasco wasn't subtle on Friday but I still gasped when I saw Emma's red stroller start its descent. Get it together Robin. I wanted to wipe that smug look off her face as she beamed to Kelly that she didn't need her meds.

I am truly enjoying seeing so many scenes play out at the hospital, aren't you? Last week ended with Sonny in (big boy!) Michael's room, Carly fainting in Jason's room and Kelly and Robin at the top of what is apparently a really tricky staircase.

I had two favorite lines last week. The first one was when Ethan walked in and found Luke with his hands wrapped around Helena's neck. He didn't seem shocked in the least and simply asked, "Do you need anything…razor wire…body bag?" The next line came from Alexis as she briefed the paramedics about Jerry and Jason's medical condition, "They're both allergic to moral choices."

So there you have it guys, everything that meant anything to me last week. You?

Well...since only the bad points of Robin is ever mentioned I wanted to give kudos to the performance of JT and KMc during the couples therapy scene. I thought that moment was fabulous and both actors brought their A-game. My only gripe was that we didn't get follow up to it. I just really enjoyed how Patrick was pouring his heart out and Robin just busted out in tears from the revelation, really good stuff from them.

You are right, ScrubsAlltheWay. I think that Kimberly and Patrick are both doing a great job of bringing this painful storyline to life. My gripe is that I feel that they are writing Robin inconsistantly - she is a doctor afterall. But then again I've not had PPD. Point well taken!

Great post this week Julie- I love it! I could not believe how short lived Helena's visit was to Port Charles. I did love the scenes she shared with Luke and Ethan! I loved it when she caught Ethan sticking his hand into her purse and she busted him for it! I was curious as to what the piece of paper was inside the picture frame. I thought it was a birth certificate, but not for sure. Too bad her visit was short lived, I do like her character flaws and all! I loved Jerry's return as well even though it is going to be short lived. I wish the writers would have gone through the story line with his relationship with Alexis.LMAO when Alexis told the paramedics that they are both allergic to moral choices! I found that very comical! Robin and Patrick are doing a brilliant job playing out their story line regarding PPD, but I am finding it hard to remain interested because it seems like that it is continuing to drag on and on. I do think these two actors deserve a day time emmy for their outstanding acting! Thanks again Julie this was great!!!

I agree that the appearances of Helena and Jerry Jacks were too brief IMO. I have a feeling that Helena will be back soon. It looked like there was a birth certificate in her hands. Could there be another Cassadine or did Helena have a adulturous affair that resulted in a child?

As for Jerry, I find that the most interesting villians have a bit of humanity to them. Even Darth Vader had enough good to return to the light side of the force. Although Jerry doesn't do remorse, I felt he was genuinely sorry for the pain he has caused his brother. Just a shame he doesn't think about that before he gets into trouble.

I'm excited to see if Ethan is really Lukes son. I thought that all along. I do hope that Holly is on a lot longer than Jerry & Helena. I also am very intrested to find out who Rebecca is always talking to on her cell phone. What is that girl up to?? I also want Maxie & Spinelli to get together!! But I think she went about it all wrong. Why Can't they just let her open up to him and just tell him how she really feels about him??

OK. I think the writers finally did the right thing by helping Robin get the help she needs. Enough already! That storyline has gone on and used up it's value when discussing an important problem such as PPD. I too was very disappointed about Helena's way too short visit. Come on...there needs to be more. The pregancies are a refreshing change to have a story line about. I too want Maxie and Spinelli to get together. But what's up with the Johnny is going to have a one nighter with an older woman. The writers need to come up with something better than that. I think bring in some new younger personalities will help the show a great deal. So what are they waiting for?

I think the show needs new blood. I like to see an African American mob family move into Port Charles who have kids the same age as Michaels and Kristina. Probably have the teenager girl fall for Michael. Both families hate the idea but they cannot do anything about it. Then have someone as crazy as Manny start some trouble for the two families.

The Liz and Nick combination was weird at first but it could be interesting. Naw…its just too weird. Maybe Matt and Lulu… instead of the bad boy type. Maxie and Jonny for a while until a then bring in a hot girl for Spinelli cause he deserves to be treated better than the way Maxie treats him.

I really liked Rick’s old character and I wish that they could bring him back. Maybe have him hook up with Olivia. Then he finds out that Sonny is Dante father. Ummm should he tell? I like Claudia, I hope she can carry her baby to terms and ends up been Rick’s. Sonny wants her to pay for what she did to Michael but he cant kill her because he cares for her.

While Carly has Jaxs baby, but is mad when she finds out the truth. She runs back to Sonny. Sonny kicks Claudia out and he gets back together with Carly and all their drama.

Have Sam rescue Jason for a change. Have her do more as a P.I and succeed without showing too much and Jason. She is my favorite character. IF not Jason then I will rather have her back with Jax but Jason first.

Bring in more men for most of the single ladies of Port Charles

Then bring a bad storm or hurricane to Port Charles
